Currently Testing Skincare: Recover, Repair, Illuminate and Exfoliate

So let’s talk about something on everyones lips right now!

Well, if you’re in South Africa at least… the cold!

Dang! Baby, its cold outside!

And your skin is probably feeling it to! I know mine is, or was at least – but I’ve added some new steps to my skincare regime and currently testing some great products to help skin recover, repair, illuminate and exfoliate this winter…

1. Lancome Advanced Genifique YEUX Light-Pearl

Lancome make some of the best eye-care products in the world and their new baby, Advanced Genifique YEUX Light-Pearl is brand new eye brightening system that is simply amazing!

Infused with light and a new flexible applicator (love it), this illuminating eye contour serum will add new dimension to your eye contours. It’s so special, the formulation is protected by seven patents!

Regular use has shown that within a month, eyes look visibly bigger and those nasty eye bags, reduced.

I’ve only been using it for about a week, and I can already see an improvement in my eye contours. Granted, I’ve been a naughty beauty blogger and haven’t been very good with applying eye care, so it was a bit of a happy shock to my eye contours that I started again with such a magnificent eye serum.

The applicator is one of the coolest I’ve seen and such a pleasure to use.

The Pearl Applicator allows a 360° application, but besides that, it’s nice and cooling on the eye contours, gently massaging them without too much pressure thanks to its flexibility and the ability to access those hard-to-reach eye areas.

2. Filorga C-Recover

I perviously tried out Filorga Derma C (which has since been discontinued) and loved the vitamin c “boost” so much that I wanted to do it again!

So this time around, I tried, tested and am loving Filorga C-Recover Radiance Anti-Fatigue Concentrate.

It’s difficult to find Vitamin C in its purest form, especially when it becomes “exposed” it tends to lose its magic powers.

Like their Derma C, Filorga C-Recover comes in three air tight, light resistant bottles. To use, “break the seal” by pushing down which will release pure Vitamin C powder into the serum.

In the pack, you get three bottles and a dropper. Each bottle lasts approximately one week if used day and night.

In a nutshell, this 21 day Vitamin C system rejuvenates your skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It’s applied to cleansed skin before your moisturiser, and used day and night.

In addition to the Vitamin C boost, Filorga C-Recover also contains a trio of biosaccharides (l-fructose, d-galactose and galacturonic acid) to provide a reinforced, immediate moisturising sensation and powerful long-term hydration.

I’m on my third bottle at the moment, so it’s my last week of using this system and so far, my skin is loving it!

The best part is how much brighter and more radiant it looks, a huge part thanks to Filorga C-Recover.

3. Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum

I love products that work while you sleep and currently loving the Dermalogica Overnight Repair Serum from their AGEsmart range!

It’s the perfect little companion to add to your winter skincare regime.

It will leave your skin healthy, hydrated and nourished. It’s packed with peptides to help stimulate collagen and night time repair, while anti-oxidant plant extracts help firm and strengthen the skin.

It’s a winner in a bottle!

It smells amazing; with a mix of argan, rose, carrot-seed, sunflower seed and (very noticeable and very delicious) jasmine oils.

While it’s an oil, your skin (well my skin at least), soaks it up without leaving a greasy film.

The only thing I don’t like is getting the product out. You have to hold the bottle upside down for a couple of seconds to initiate product flow. I guess, the benefit is that you get just enough product to use and you aren’t tempted to over do it – you know when you accidentally spill a ton of product on on your hands, the natural reaction is to use all of it – waste note want not, am I right?!

Nonetheless, a winner and I love having it on my winter-skin dream team.

My skin looked noticeably more hydrated and healthier after a couple nights of use. To use, just smooth 4-6 drops into your skin or blend with your night cream. I like to “press” it gently into my skin before applying my night cream, focusing on the areas that I feel need hydrating or a little extra TLC.

Get it:
Available from Dermalogica retailers or via the newly launched Dermalogica e-commerce store that launched yesterday!

R850 for 15ml’s
* Plus for the month of July 2015, you can get it in a bonus 30ml size as well!

4. OLAY Regenerist 3 Point Super Cleansing System

This little guy has been around since October last year, but I only now got to test drive it.

First things first. I’m already a fan of the Clarisonic and I wouldn’t trade it for the world – but lets face it, not everyone can afford R2k+ price tag, and while the Regenerist 3-Point Super Cleansing System is no comparison to the Clarisonic, it is still a nifty tool if you want to up your skin cleansing game.

It has a 2-speed rotating head (that can be replaced for under R100 when needed) and is water resistant, so you could use it in the shower. *But no dunking in the bath*. The brush is super gentle and feels soft on the skin without feeling abrasive.

I found that the first setting was a little “too gentle” for my liking, but the second spin speed was much better and I could feel it gently cleansing my skin.

It removes makeup (as in foundation) like a dream, gently and efficiently and the little brush feels great around the smaller areas of the face, like the nose and chin area.

It is said to clean skin up to 4x better than using just cleanser alone.

For me, the biggest benefit, since I already love my Clarisonic, is that the 3-Point Cleansing System is much smaller. It’s really super compact and takes up very little space, which makes it perfect for my travel beauty bag.

Since I don’t like lugging my Clarissonic along (I have the Plus, as in the big boy), the 3-Point Cleansing System is easier to travel with and it doesn’t require a charger (it takes 2 AA Batteries supplied with purchase).

Definitely something to consider adding to your skincare regime!

Let me know if you’ve tried any of these and your thoughts – as always, I love to hear your opinions!
