I’ve just returned from the most incredible bush adventure!
Four days out in Africa, getting up close and personal with all her beautiful creatures, just roaming around a few inches from the protection of our Landrover.
Isn’t it just the cutest summer cover-up? It was perfect for our evening game drives!
Since I had bush veld on the brain, by pure stroke of luck and perfect timing, I also found this floppy bush hat while I was there, which was just the cherry on top!
It will defs become my bush adventure staple from now on! I wore it on almost every game drive and it kept me cool, protected from the sun and thanks to the little drawstring I didn’t lose it.
And the colour… perfecto!
Look at that frrrrriiiinge! Obsessed!
We had such a blast! This was part of our group racing to catch the lioness before she moved away on our last game drive evening.
We were incredibly blessed to have seen it all…
We spotted the entire big five entourage… Lions, Leopard, Buffalo, Elephant and Rhino, as well as a whole lot more. I wasn’t too fond of the Croc, that was way too close for comfort on our second drive. He was so close that I jumped onto my sister lap and didn’t even consider taking a photo of him.
But, I did love the herd of elephants strolling past our camps’ watering hole, which was less than 10 meters from where we were braaing! The morning before, while I was out on a game drive, the leopard came to the watering hole as well, and I’m kinda sad I missed seeing him that close!
Leopards and Lions are by far, my fave wild animals – even though in domestic life, I’m more a dog person than a cat person – lol. I don’t like Hyenas (which is a dog-like creature), even though we spotted an awfully cute one, that looked more like a bear than a scavenger, just parking off in the water trying to cool off, I guess.
The wild is such an incredible experience – I could go on and on about how awesome it is, but instead of bombarding you with tons of text so early in the week, how about I just share some of my pics?
I wore this outfit on our 6am game drive, where it was quite chillos – even though it later heated up to around 40 degrees Centigrade.
Sans jacket, boots (and my hat) and whole look quickly transformed from Bush baby to casual boho.
We stayed at Java Bush Camp, a private house that isn’t available for bookings unfortunately, however it is part of the Motswari camp, and we basically used the Motswari rangers who were amazing!
So, if you’re looking to book an incredible bush getaway with rangers who go out of their way to tick off your wildlife sighting list and experience the bush in an authentic way, then you should defs check out Motswari! The Motswari Private Game Reserve and Geigers Camp are still on my bucket list, even though i’m obsessed with Java 🙂
