Oh yeah! The nights are getting longer and the days are getting shorter, which means one thing… snuggle weather is coming! I for one, love the cooler seasons! I love spending time at home, looking out at the gloomy weather outside and snuggling up with NetFlix or a good book. It’s perfection, and this year I am doing it right!
There’s no better way to snuggle up than with a comfortable, luxurious pillow, so to get you snuggle ready the fine folk over at Sealy have given me two super cozy Nature’s Rest Pillows to give away to one of my lovely readers. Be sure to enter my giveaway at the end of this post. Trust me, you will want them in your life!
A Good Book
I’m dying to get into the debut novel from Joseph Knox called Sirens. Lee Child called it “Razor Sharp”, which sounds like the perfect thriller to sink my teeth into this winter. In front of the fireplace perhaps, or on a dark and gloomy night? It’s about a young, disgraced detective, caught stealing drugs from the evidence room and then blackmailed into going undercover.
The undercover operation sends him from the upper echelons of the super-rich to the low-life squalor of Manchester’s drug scene. He spends his nights tailing The Franchise, a sophisticated gang operating out of the city’s booming bar culture, but when David Rossiter, a powerful member of parliament, discovers that his runaway teenage daughter has turned up in their custody – everything changes.
Flannel PJ’s
Whether you’re cozing up on the couch, or getting your beauty rest, cute, comfy PJ’s are an absolute must! I wish I could wear PJ’s all day – every day! And it’s no wonder, with such cute two-pieces, like this Flannel set from H&M (R399).
I know flannel has had it’s moments, especially loved by lumberjacks – but this print is gorgeous for winter, and just looking at them makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.
Autumn Candles
Cozy weather and candles go hand in hand and Autumn Night by Yankee Candle is a great scent to get you in the mood! Think brisk earthiness combined with dreamy lavender and woodland notes. Mmmmmm!
Fluffy Slippers
Now these slippers… they are like heaven for your feet! I bought a pair over Christmas (on sale from Cape Union Mart) and thought I’d save them for winter. But you know what, my feet could not resist their fluffiness until winter, so I’ve been wearing them a ton lately.
They are super soft inside and out and they are sooooo fluffy, you will die! They are made from faux fur with a leather patterned sole, so you can stroll around the house without slipping. Plus, you may just forget how comfy they are and fall asleep with them. Also, not a problem since they feel more like socks than shoes!
Check out more styles here or Google Bedroom Athletics for retailers selling them all over SA!
Comfy Pillow
A comfy, snuggly, luxurious pillow is a must, and I love the Nature’s Rest Pillow from Sealy.
This 200 thread count, cotton percale quilted pillow is the best way to snuggle up! It’s finished with ‘Vital Protection’ that repels insects, including those nasty bed bugs and mozzies. Inside, it’s filled with 450g of Comferel to provide luxurious support, plus you get an extra 100g bag inside in case you want to fluff up your pillows a little more.
These are currently the pillows I have on my bed and I can say from experience that they are amazing! Do yourself a favour and invest in a good pillow and you will have good night and an even better morning waking up fresh and rested. Or, you could enter my giveaway -at the end of this post- and you might just be the lucky reader to get a set for yourself.
Blankets & Throws
Blankets and throws are my little indulgence over winter. Actually, if I’m being completely honest, I like a blanket even in summer. It just makes me feel cozy and comfy!
This Forest Woven Throw from Woolies look positively snuggle worthy! Those true autumn colours, knit and tassels make it so inviting! Wouldn’t you want one?

During the Winter I have a lot more free time because I don’t have to spend every free minute tending to my gardens, so I thoroughly enjoy this season of relaxing evenings. Love the refreshing cool, crisp air, the bare trees being so graceful, the long nights and how blue the sky gets at dusk. I look forward to hunkering down inside, enjoying hot showers or soaking up in bubble baths, doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing projects and watching old movies. It was great as a kid, and I looked forward to all those days off from school and snow ball fights!!! Each season offers something special, and I glory in the changes. Winter food is the best kind of food! Staying inside on a chilly evening calls for hot chocolate and cream, warm apple juice, or copious mugs of tea. During Winter I love indulging in steaming bowls of healthy soup and baking yummy pies. There is no better season to cuddle into an embrace. Having an excuse to stay inside, throw a blanket over you, and curl up with a good book enjoy comfort foods & wear Big, cozy sweaters and cute boots. Every year during Winter my family & I retreat to the Drakensburg. We love the peace and quiet that settles in when the snowflakes start to fall and the enjoy the beauty of a winter landscape after a fresh snowfall. My kids & I really love lounging in the living room in front of the warm fire & there’s nothing more heavenly than my Grandma’s hot chocolate recipe topped with whipped cream & marshmallows, leaving some foam to tickle our nose as we sip. We gather together and take turns reading chapters from our favourite books. We look forward to the longer nights & shorter days & enjoy playing board games, have family Braais and sing songs. I love Winter because it’s the season for reflection and rest, for cozying up in the warmth of our home surrounded by the light of our family & enjoying a wonderful time of family love & togetherness
Definitely the rain so that the dams in CT fill up!
I love autumn!! Definitely the best season in my opinion! Just the smell in the air, all the colours, crisp mornings, cooler weather!! And I can finally get back into all my boots! Yay! Sandals? Binned!!
I’m definitely a summer girl, but one thing I really do love about winter are the beautiful sunsets!
Looking forward to a rainy winter weekend so I can sleep in longer, stayed at home cooking delish soup and just series binge in my PJs.
I am a winter person and often feel cheated that our winters seem so short. Some of my favourite things: boots, coats, soups, hot chocolate, binge-watching series, long walks, sleeping late without guilt and make-up that doesn’t melt!
looking forward to the lower temperatures
Looking forward to rain and winter fashion
