Benefit Brows Collection

Benefit Air Patrol

Benefit Air Patrol

Ladies, prepare for takeoff as the new Benefit Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer is here to make your eye shadow last and last all day long! Already out at Benefit counters nationwide (it launched on the 1st November), this is one Benefit product I’ve been dying to try out! So many of the beauty gurus I follow on Youtube have said such great things about it, but it was after Tati Westbrook’s very thorough First Impressions video that I needed to have it! I have a combination skin, but my eyelids are almost always oily; which means my eye shadow needs a lot of work to stay put and without help, even with the most precise blending and amazing products, my shadow is generally faded and blah a few hours later. The only other product that has worked for me to keep my eye shadow put is my Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer. While I still love my Smashbox eyeshadow primer, Air Patrol has the added extra of having an SPF and being slightly tinted, which doubles up as a primer and base colour. So I can use less product on my lid and get the same amazing…

What We’re Gonna Miss From Benefit

What We’re Gonna Miss From Benefit

We’re still saddened by the news, that Benefit Cosmetics will be pulling out of South Africa. I remember when they first launched here, and how excited everyone was to have this brand at our disposal. At that time, I had never used any of their products, but had read and heard loads of amazing things about them. Then the amazing happened, Woolworths stocked all these beautifully packaged goodies on their shelves, and we thought life was made! If you were a fan before, I’m sure you were glad you didn’t have to plan a trip overseas to get your Benefit beauty fix! But that will be the case no more. From August this year, Woolworths will no longer be stocking Benefit cosmetics, as the brand will be pulling out of SA to focus on its European and Asian markets instead. Like many of you, over the years I have grown fond of some of their products, and now that they won’t be a trip to the mall away, I don’t know what I’ll do. It will be sad to see them go, but here’s a little tribute to Benefit and some of my all time favourite products that I will miss… I love, love, loved their lip glosses, but most…

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

I am head-over-heels in love with the latest Guess Accessories campaign! The makeup is to-die-for and I can’t wait to try this look out, so I asked two of my favourite Durban based makeup artists, Candice Mac Nicol (@cands_mac) and Lisa Bailey (@LisaBaileyPout)  to give me their tips, tricks and product recommendations on how to get this glam old-Hollywood look! ON THE FACE Candice’s Tips Allow your natural skin and glow to shine through! The foundation is light and well-matched to the skin tone, allowing a natural glow. Using a wet cosmetic sponge, wet Beauty Blender or wet Stippling brush, apply a light to medium coverage liquid foundation on the face. Great products to use include MAC Face & Body or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Apply concealer only where needed (under eyes, around base of nose, any red areas). This type of look requires a natural skin tone and the final look shouldn’t be too heavy or matte. Great products to use include Bobbi Brown concealer, Clinique eye concealer or Smashbox HD concealer. If you’d like, apply a highlighting concealer under the eyes like YSL Touche Eclat. Use a flat, synthetic brush and your ring finger. Contour & Highlight using a matte…

A tribute to Elizabeth Taylor – Modern Day Cleopatra Eyes

A tribute to Elizabeth Taylor – Modern Day Cleopatra Eyes

Yesterday was a truly sad day for the world! One of the greatest, most iconic beauties in the business, Elizabeth Taylor passed away. We will always love this icon and today, we pay tribute to one of the most glamorous women of our time. We’ll show you, step by step, how to create modern day Cleopatra Eyes, a perfect way for you to remember the great Elizabeth Taylor and keep her look alive. Step 1 Using a light coloured eye shadow (we love Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Bone) cover the entire eyelid, from the lash line, all the way up to your brow bone. TIP: apply using the MAC 217 Blending Brush Step 2 Add colour to the outer corners of your lids with something striking and sexy. We love Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Shadow in Antique Gold. Pat the colour on using your fingertips, focusing on applying most of the colour to the outer corners and blend inwards. For more intense colour, build it up in layers until you have your desired result. TIP: apply using your fingertips for best results Step 3 Add definition to your lids using a shade that has gorgeous shimmer…

Get your brows in shape…

Get your brows in shape…

How cool is this brow bar?  It’s been set up by Benefit Cosmetics, in Woolworths at the V & A Waterfront and it’s sole aim is to help create shapely eyebrows in a flash.  Benefit is the quirky range of really cool cosmetics from San Francisco, recently launched in South Africa and is exclusive to Woolworths. With over 30 years experience in the beauty business, Benefit understands that women all over love having well-shaped brows. They opened their first brow bar some five years ago and now offer a brow shaping service at most of their boutiques and department store counters around the world. The brow bar at Woolworths V&A will be its first in South Africa. “Benefit have an international reputation as the brow experts, and we’re pleased to be able to offer this service to our customers,” says Joanne Wilson, who heads up beauty at Woolworths. “We’re looking forward to opening brow bars at other Woolworths beauty departments around the country in future.”
