Being one to shy away from the camera, I’ve learnt a lot about how to smile more naturally. Nowadays, I try not to worry too much about how the end picture will look – as for me, that always ends in a deer-in-the-headlights kinda way. The best smile, IMO (in my opinion) is one that is totally and completely natural. One where the person’s face genuinely lights up the room. You don’t have to be the best looking person in the room, but a great smile will always get you noticed. The Art of The “Selfie”: Three Simple Tips to Better Pics #WearASmile

Arhhh! Photos! I’ll be the first to admit, that while I love taking pictures, I hate photographs of myself! I always think that I look too weird in them and that my smile looks too fake. I guess I haven’t mastered the art of my “photo face”. Lights, camera, SMILE! The Colgate Optic White #WearASmile campaign has officially launched. You can now log onto the Wear A Smile blog and upload your best smile pics to win that chance to get your own Cosmo Cover! More on that here. My O Magazine Shoot – Behind the Scenes

Some of you may remember (from my obsessive tweeting) that in December last year, I was lucky enough to get flown to Cape Town to feature in a real people fashion shoot for O Magazine. I’m no shmodel, but it was great fun to experience life as a model – even if it was just for a day. The O Magazine fashion gals, Fashion Ed Robyn Cooke (styleguidecapetown.blogspot.com) and her assistant Luisa are such experts! I mean, look at the outfits on this rack, without even meeting me, they found my style and knew what would look good on me. I was in love with the Hip Hop jacket and cargo pants, I wanted to take them home. Even the shoes, gimmie! I also got to finally meet fellow blog stars and fashionistas Allison Scotsman (AKA Lady Luxe, aka @TweetsinHeels from skinnybitchesinthemaking.blogspot.com) and Milisuthando Bongela (AKA @missmillib from missmillib.blogspot.com) who are both such amazing girls with awesome blogs. Our feature, Blog Stars is in the current issue of O Magazine (March 2011) which should be out on shelf right now. Summer Lust List – Melissa Allen

Today, we’re featuring the summer lust list of Melissa Allen, otherwise known as “Miss Molly” 1) A fabulous Bikini I think it is important to try and find a bikini with the right print and colours to match your skin tone. Don’t go overboard with accessories, but a great sun hat with a cute trim will add to your beach look and will add to your benefit by protecting your face from the harsh sun rays! I recently purchased a fabulous bikini from Insight and a hat from Forever New. Sea Folly (Durban) is another great store to find amazing bikinis! 2) A good sun block I have an olive skin tone but would still sit in the sun for hours on end trying to go darker. I realised how harsh the sun is and how much damage it can cause after hearing about a good friends mum who was diagnosed with skin cancer on her chest. If you are planning on spending a day in the sun then a good sun block with the highest protection is essential. And if you feel you are too pale to even bare your body in a bikini then go for a spray…

Check it out… 1) Chanel Mat Lumiere Powder Compact My favourite find of 2010 this feather-light and oil free foundation which is powder based and delivers a flawless radiant finish. It absorbs oil and sweat on the hottest of summer days and contains light reflecting pigments which minimize flaws and fine lines, making skin appear healthy and flawless without being overly powdery. The compact makes for extremely convenient and stylish touch-ups and the coverage is build-able allowing for extra cover in the areas you need it most. My new iPod Touch With it’s amazing big touch screen I can check the weather, email, listen to my favourite summer tunes and even watch videos! It does everything the iPhone does, except for making calls! 2. Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie My favourite fragrance of the moment Van Cleef & Arpels Feerie. Apart for the stunning packaging, the fragrance is fresh, sophisticated and very feminine. I love this one at the moment. 3. The new Dior summer sunnies collection Summer reminds me of cool blue waters, sandy shores and long girly cocktails. Today we take a look at Robyn Cooke, Madame Style Guide CT’s Summer Lust list. If you haven’t heard of Robyn Cooke, you haven’t heard of blogging – she’s one of SA’s best known fashion bloggers, with an eye for detail, an incredible sense of style, and oh, she’s also the Fashion Editor at O Magazine South Africa. 1. Lalesso Dress Top of my list for summer is a Lalesso dress from South African Designers at Woolworths. I love to support local fashion. I adore Alice from Lalesso. The Woolies prices are affordable. And the dresses are super-cute and perfect for a hot summer in Africa. Sold! 2. Cute Kitten Heels Also on my list for this season is (yet another) pair of cute, pointy kitten heels from Jimmy Choo. I try only to buy Jimmy Choo shoes by saving up for the best I can afford. Plaid Perfection at the MAC Tartan Tale Launch!

In case you live under a rock (in other words, you’re not following StyleScoop on Twitter) last night I was at the launch for MAC’s new holiday collection – A Tartan Tale. I took loads of pics so make sure you check them out on the gallery page. But if you’re like me and enjoy knowing the full story and seeing whose who and what’s what, then keep reading. Based on a story of pure plaid royalty, complete with a its own raven haired heroine – Myfanwy, A Tartan Tale is the inspiration for MAC’s new holiday collection. I was invited, together with a group of fabulous bloggers and beauty editors from around SA, as well as makeup artists, to enjoy an evening of plaid fairytales. Of course we were there mainly to view and drool over the new MAC holiday collection – a dream for lips, eyes, face and nails – but we also got to enjoy some serious eye candy!
