I Covet… Designer Wardrobe Staples

I Covet… Designer Wardrobe Staples

Good morning fabulous people! Lately I’ve been coveting (so what else is new), so I thought I’d start a new series here on StyleScoop called I Covet… and I’m kicking off with Classic Designer Staples! I’ve set my expectations high, and since we’re dreaming in any case, I’ve picked out designer pieces that I totally think are worth the investment… even if it’s something that will only happen 10, 20 years down the line! I reckon even then, I’ll still want these same pieces! A girl can dream can’t she? Burberry Trench Coat Number one on my aim-for-the-stars wish list is this Burberry Sandringham Long Trench coat – of course! I mean, it’s probably the number one wardrobe staple that will never go out of style! Am I right? My fixation with owning a Burberry Trench has always been around, but it was only when I attended the My Burberry fragrance launch that I really, really felt the NEED! At the launch I got to discover the history of this amazing coat, made from a very special fabric, and got to touch and feel its beauty with my own grubby hands! I really didn’t want to give it back (haha) and since then, I’ve been obsessed with with owning one of…

Sun Shadey Days – New Sunglass Styles from Luxottica

Sun Shadey Days – New Sunglass Styles from Luxottica

Today I’m super excited, because I get to show you gals some of the hot new sunglass styles on offer from Luxottica’s brands! I love them all so much… and as I always say, a girl can never have too many shoes, perfumes or sunglasses! Brace yourselves though, for a bazillion-and-one sunglass selfies… Dolce & Gabbana First up, Dolce and Gabbana. The new range from the Italian powerhouse is absolutely jaw dropingly beautiful. Sophisticated, elegant and ladylike, but all while maintaining a serious glam factor… One of the biggest statements I’ve noticed Dolce & Gabbana making, are square frames. Whether simple square frames, or really extravagant ones that have beautiful hand made roses embellishing the entire frame! These  kinda remind me of a heavily frosted cake! I just want to eat them up! It’s all about the detail, with gorgeous temples, encrusted with cute and a little quirky bling-bling! Kinda obsessed with these (real) lace shades! At first, I thought the colour wouldn’t match my dark hair, but surprise, surprise… they are winners! Absolutely loving these floral options… Go all out with floral prints throughout your frames, or opt for more subtle versions (like the back pair) that have simple black frames in front, with a surprise floral detail hidden inside.…

Burberry Winter 2015: Patchwork, Pattern & Prints

Burberry Winter 2015: Patchwork, Pattern & Prints

Living in South Africa, where we are a season behind, is both a blessing and a curse. We see the latest trends happening in the Northern Hemisphere, but we have to wait months before we can get to wear them, which can get a bit annoying. But on the plus side, we can prepare our wardrobe and invest in pieces that will take us through two seasons. Think of it as though we get an inside look at the the following trends ahead. Today, I wanted to share some of the looks, hot off the Burberry Womenswear Autumn/Winter 2015 runway. These looks were showcased in London, on the 23rd February 2015, and although we’re just going into winter 2014 (in terms of trends), at least we can see what trends will be big for the following winter when it hits in the Northern Hemisphere in December this year. Titled, “Patchwork, Pattern & Prints“, this collection features paisley and floral bohemian prints, inspired by Durham quilts, patchwork prints as well as animal and camouflage printed lace. Burberry also introduces The Bucket Bag, The Long Fringe Scarf in check cashmere, the Ponytail boot and The Burberry Round Shades collection of sunglasses. So,…

My Fave Summer Fragrances

My Fave Summer Fragrances

It’s been a smouldering hot summer, but before we head on into Autumn, I wanted to share some of my favourite summer scents that I’ve been rotating throughout this gorgeous season. When the heat rises, I tend to gravitate towards fresh, bright, softer and more delicate scents. I’m not a fan of sickly sweet-floral or candy scents, but I do love the smell of freshly cut flowers or scents that remind me of summer gardens. YSL Black Opium One of my most worn scents this summer, especially for night, has got to be YSL Black Opium. This scent is soooo gorgeous and addictive! I guess the coffee bean note gives me an instant mind boost. I also love how it develops into a mix of jasmine and light vanilla before settling into woody and patchouli notes. HUGO BOSS MA VIE For day, I like to wear HUGO BOSS MA VIE. This scent is beautifully packaged in a gorgeous pastel pink bottle and is all about playfulness with a powerful dash of sexy. It opens with an invograting fresh note of Cactus Blossom, combined with notes of Suave Pink Freesia, Jasmine Petals and Delicate Rose Bud. L’Occitane Fleurs de Cerisier A…

The Burberry Poncho

The Burberry Poncho

What could be more coveted than owning an iconic Burberry Trench? Well, it seems a monogrammed Burberry Poncho or Blanket is the winter accessory to have and to hold. First seen on the Autumn Winter 2014 Prorsum runway, Burberry’s Colour Block Check Blanket Poncho has been spotted on the streets by Suki Waterhouse, Victoria Beckham, SJP, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Cara Delevingne and Alexa Chung – to name a few. Inspired by the traditional equestrian blanket; with blanket-stitched edging and a warm, hard-wearing textured feel Burberry Ponchos come in a range styles with archival and modern influences. But what makes these pieces even more coveted? Burberry monogramming, which allows customers to personalise their Poncho with three initials in the Burberry font. I don’t know about you gals, but I want one! Images Courtesy Burberry (used with permission)

My Burberry, Like London in the Rain

My Burberry, Like London in the Rain

Ahh, the Burberry Trench Coat! One of the most iconic, most coveted fashion pieces of all time! I want one! Unfortunately my piggy bank isn’t big enough to afford one, but at least, I now have a piece of the Burberry Trench, with the launch of the brands’ new fragrance, My Burberry! The concept behind this truly British scent, is to give everyone a chance to own their own Burberry, even if they can’t afford the Trench. Those who own a Burberry trench coat, affectionally refer to their coat as “My Burberry”. Burberry Creative Director, Christopher Bailey says the fragrance is like “a little bit of England, that will travel the world, just like the Burberry Trench.” The little details that make the Burberry Trench iconic reflect in the concept and design of the fragrance. The colour palette of the juice is reminiscent of the signature honey shade, one of the three colours used in the brand’s Heritage Trench Coat collection. The horn-finished cap reflects the trench coat button, while the ribbon, which is hand tied in Yorkshire (like the trench coat) is made from the same fabric as a Burberry Trench (English woven Gabardine) and hand-knotted in the same style. And keeping it truly Burberry, the nozzle is engraved with the…

Burberry Brit Rhythm

Burberry Brit Rhythm

Happy Friday! You know what Friday’s mean here at StyleScoop? Time for my fragrance of the week! This week I’d like to tell you about the new Burberry Brit Rhythm that launched in SA last month! Such a fun, “fearless” fragrance that epitomises the sensuality and spontaneity of the Burberry brand. Christopher Bailey (Chief Creative Officer at Burberry), describes it as “irreverent and free-spirited”. He goes on to say that “the Brit Rhythm woman combines powerful femininity with a rock and roll edge”. Looking at the design of the bottle, “rock and roll edge” is so fitting! Its clear contrasting textures of studs and smooth glass make the smoked pink juice inside sparkle with energy! On my first spritz, the lavender top note pops and later develops into a blackberry and citrus bite, where it lingers with woody, musky base notes. Overall, I kinda like it! It’s a little sweet and “juicy” – more fruity than candy sweet – which give this scent its energy. And, I generally love fragrances that have a Vetiver, Woody or Musky base. So for me, it’s a winner! My favourite part of this fragrance is right at the end, when the energetic top notes and fruity…
