Le Franschhoek with Elizabeth Arden

Le Franschhoek with Elizabeth Arden

There are so many exciting new launches coming our way from Elizabeth Arden this year, and today, I wanted to give you a quick sneak peek at what you can expect in September. We had the most beautiful two day media trip at the gorgeous Le Franschhoek Hotel in Cape Town, and I thought it would be nice to take you on a little visual journey of our trip while I share some of the exciting launches… The new Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers Morning Gardens fragrance is described as a radiant, feminine and refreshing scent, perfect for welcoming the summer. If you like light, bright fragrances that aren’t to fussy, yet still pretty and pleasant you’ll love this one! It contains top notes of Italian Bergamot, Neo Grapefruit, Neroli Blossom, Pink Peppercorn, Blackcurrant and Nectarine. The middle notes are comprised of Rose Oil Bulgary, Jasmine Sambac, Yellow Peony, Sunflower and Honeysuckle Extract, while the base notes are comprised of Cedarwood, Golden Amber, Vetiver, Radiant Musk. It’s a lovely, crisp scent that I’m sure I’ll be getting loads of wear out of in the Spring. Then, on the 19th September Elizabeth Arden launches Green Tea Nectarine Blossom – One spritz of this…

Nougat & Wine Pairing at The House of JC Le Roux

Nougat & Wine Pairing at The House of JC Le Roux

Forget good food and wine, nougat and wine is so much better! When you just happen to be in Cape Town, whether you live there or you’re just visiting, you absolutely have to take a drive to Stellenbosch and visit the House of J.C. Le Roux to indulge in their Nougat & Wine pairing. I’ve been “wine tasting” before in Cape Town, but this was a completely different atmosphere. The set up is uber luxe and indulgent from the moment you walk in. Beautiful decor, a quick 5 minute tour through the winery (to see how it’s made without the boring tour guide shpiel) and then onto the wine tasting! Bring on the bubbly! You get your own table that’s set up with five fabulous wines and a guide (ours was the very knowledgeable Simon Dicks) who explains the different wines to you. It’s not so much a lesson, but rather of an interesting story behind the bottle and how it’s made. With the Nougat & Wine pairing, you get to sample five wines, each one matched to compliment a type of Nougat. First up; Pinoit Noir, Pinot Noir Rosé  and La Vallée Rosé. These three wines are Méthode Cap Classique wines, which means…

Fire & Ice Cape Town

Fire & Ice Cape Town

Earlier this month, the hubz and I headed over to Cape Town to watch Bon Jovi! What an amazing concert – dude can still rock out! Not bad for a 51 year old man – although he still looks like he’s in his 30’s! On the day of the concert, we stayed at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice in Cape Town – A trendy hotel set in the heart of the Mother City! The Hotel features trendy and modern luxury rooms that have everything you need for a comfortable stay. For a more stylish stay, you can opt for one of the superior rooms, superior patio rooms or for the real trend setters, the executive suites look like a treat. We got to stay in one of the Superior Patio Rooms. A comfortable room that had an extra large king-size bed, LCD flat screen, air-conditioning as well as a shower and vanity that was separated by a curtain. The loo was in it’s own separate room behind the basin. One of the added features, was the private patio. The private patio makes a huge difference! It not only extends the space, but it’s really nice to sit outside and have a cup of coffee in the morning, taking in the…

Fab Food – Olympia Cafe Kalk Bay
Cape Town

Fab Food – Olympia Cafe Kalk Bay

Since loading the new Lifestyle, Food & Decor category to the StyleScoop nav bar, I figured that it would be nice to feature some of my favorite places to eat. Something I hope to add to more often, because gals like us, who enjoy dressing up and looking good also love to enjoy life’s other little pleasures, like amazing food. My hubby and I have made a point to discover new and interesting places for weekend brunches, and although I’ll be featuring mostly Durban spots, today I’ll share my all-time favourite spot in Cape Town. Olympia Cafe in Kalk Bay… First off, I have to say that Kalk Bay is one of my favourite spots in Cape Town. I could spend days in this beautiful, old town with it’s antique shops and village-style charisma. It kinda reminds me of Europe and if you have a chance to visit Cape Town, do yourself a favour and check it out. While you’re there you absolutely have, have, have to go to Olympia Cafe! While the decor may be quite simple with wooden tables and nothing really fancy, the food is absolutely amazing! So amazing, you’ll be thinking about it over and over again. To this day, Olympia Cafe remains one…

One night at the Pepper Club Luxury Hotel & Spa

One night at the Pepper Club Luxury Hotel & Spa

Last week I was fortunate enough to spend a fabulous night at the gorgeous Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town – one of “South Africa’s most luxurious hotels” as reported by CNN Traveller magazine. I’ve always wanted to stay at the Pepper Club and was over the moon when given the opportunity to experience this R400 million luxury hotel. It was a night filled with pure luxury, surprises and an unforgettable experience… My husband and I arrived at the hotel where we were greeted by name. Something that from the very first moment, makes you feel like someone special. To add to that the hotel’s CEO, Nick Seewer, General Manager David Hughes and the lovely Jeanne Cupido, who is the Public Relations Officer and the tweetie behind @PepperClub were all there to meet us and welcome us to the hotel. The question, “when can we move in” popped into my head, but I decided to keep it in my mind. We were escorted to our luxury one bedroom superior deluxe suite by the very friendly porter, Dean. The views (bottom left) were absolutely magnificent. The Pepper Club is located right in the buzzing heart of Cape Town’s hottest area, bounded…

Scott Cornwall gives you Freedom to Play with Colour

Scott Cornwall gives you Freedom to Play with Colour

We’ve all been in those situations when your new hair colour looks more like a colour disaster than a fabulous new do. Imagine being able to reverse the “oops” with an application at home that doesn’t involve stripping or damaging your luscious locks. Well, it is possible and hair expert Scott Cornwall, who is currently in South Africa showed us how. On Tuesday I was flown to Cape Town’s Fire & Ice Hotel, where Scott Cornwall demonstrated his brilliant Colour B4 product. You might remember that Louise tried this product out for us and she loved it. So I already knew it worked, it was just really great to meet the man behind the brand and hear his expertise on hair colour. At the demonstration, Scott used Tammy to show us how the product worked. A beautiful blonde turned red head that beared a striking resemblance to Ashlee Simpson. She bravely had her blonde locks dyed red that morning to show us how easily it could be reversed.   We were all very keen to see how Scott restored her colour … While we waited to see Tammy’s after, we were treated to the most delicious pink sparkly cupcakes and…

Out with the old, in with the (almost) new

Out with the old, in with the (almost) new

You know what they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure, right?  How about clothes?  Vintage is a fairly new fashion buzzword and in my opinion, a great way to make old, used clothes more fashion-fab rather than trailer-park-drab. What would you rather say; “I love mixing vintage pieces with jeans” or “I love wearing these old jeans that I bought from a jumble sale (remember those) at my neighbours trailer”? Yeah exactly! When you think of used clothes, old comes to mind.  However used clothes do not have to look ratty and drab, in fact they don’t have to be that old at all.  Think about how many things you’ve bought an item, worn it once and shoved into the back of your closet?  Oftentimes the only reason people get rid of clothes, besides wanting to make space for new items, is because they have either worn the piece to death, outgrown it or the item has lost it’s appeal.  That doesn’t mean that the appeal is lost to everyone though. The other day I got an email from Tonia Zorbas, who is part of a great South African project called Fashion Exchange.  It’s a local company that…
