Hello October

Hello October

October in South Africa means one thing… So long winter and hello summer! With that, my brain is almost 100% tuned into warmer weather and all I can think about is fun, sun, sand and sea! So my wishlist this month, is all about that and the start of summer…

Hey August

Hey August

This month, I’m lusting all over the place. On one hand we’re nearing the end of winter (although I really can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel just yet) and while I don’t really want to spend more money on winter things, I think it’s OK if you buy something that’s more of an investment. Something I could likely get some wear out of in the early stages of spring, and still keep it for next winter…

All about those stripes!

All about those stripes!

Give a girl the right stripes, and she can rock any look! Well, in my case at least! I could live in stripes and IMO you can never have too many striped options in your wardrobe. I just love how stripes add that street style look to what ever you’re wearing, plus they are such versatile pieces.

Weekend Uniform – Distressed Stripes #OOTD

Weekend Uniform – Distressed Stripes #OOTD

I’ve never met a striped tee I didn’t like. I guess you could say, I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to anything striped. You can never have too much. Especially like this really different striped tee, that I picked up from Old Khaki the other day… It’s the perfect mix of stripe, but with an edge. And I can bet, you don’t have anything like it in your collection? What makes the Lanah Tee different, is that the white has this really cool, distressed kinda effect going on. I paired mine with a green parka (I bought this one last year, but there’s a similar style here with a faux fur hoodie – ohh), blue Lucky Brand jeans, my trusty Converse high tops and a bling necklace. It was a little colder in morning, so I thought it the perfect opportunity to wear my super cute beanie with a huge, faux fur pom-pom. Camo Stripes {outfit.post}

Camo Stripes {outfit.post}

One thing about Jozi winters, it may be cold outside, but the days are filled with glorious sunshine! Just when I thought I had found my “it pair” of GAP jeans, I find these! I love the subtle destructed wash, and I do prefer a skinny leg – makes cuffing them look a little neater.   How cool is this tee? (also GAP). Since I am obsessed with Camo and Stripes this tee was like a match made in heaven. I didn’t love it when I saw it on the mannequin, but when I tried it on, that was it – I was sold! To keep the look “weekender”, I went with my reliable Converse High Tops and my new, awesome Knomo Great Portland bag. Then, I just added this everything goes blue collar necklace (from TopShop) and my Ray-Ban Cats 5000! These sunnies are super cool! Love the retro look so much! So, how did you guys spend your weekend? [signature]

Teenage Kicks

Teenage Kicks

Hey Guys, Allison  here from Skinny Bitches in the Making… They’re already a classic but there’s nothing wrong with a little makeover. Converse are getting a very fashionable makeover thanks to Maison Martin Margiela. This fabulous collaboration will see the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star and Jack Purcell sneakers getting the MMM treatment. Red, black and navy versions of the sneakers have been hand painted in the Margiela’s signature white paint. As the wearer goes about their day, the paint will naturally crack and reveal the colours underneath. So everyone has the chance to personally customise their pair of kicks. The MMM Converse go on sale later this month at selected retailers and will start selling from R2300. Images via Psfk.com

“Peek-a-Boo” Sleeves – 3 Ways!

“Peek-a-Boo” Sleeves – 3 Ways!

My current obsession is wearing striped tees (long for winter) and layering them with a denim shirt or camo jacket. Then, rolling the sleeves up just a bit to let the stripes peek out. This style is very JCrew, and I love it! It gives an otherwise boring outfit a stylish edge! I’m obsessed! Here are three ways I’ve worn peek-a-boo sleeves… I wore this outfit when we went up Sani Pass back in March this year. It was fa-fa-freezing up there! The darker it got, the colder it got. I managed to wear this outfit while the sun (not that you can see it) was out, and later I put on my leather bomber jacket under my sleeveless puffer jacket. I love the combination of my denim shirt and the black and white long sleeved tee. Look at how the stripes peek out on the arms, and I love how the stripes peek out at the back too! Nothing I’m wearing in this outfit is new, except for my Caterpillar Military Boots! Black Jeans – Woolworths RE, Black & White Tee – Zara, Denim Shirt – Edgars, Puffer Sleeveless Jacket – Woolworths. When I did the CROCS “Make A Splash” shoot in April, we had…

She’s Got All Star Style!

She’s Got All Star Style!

Ok, so since the Converse Get Dirty Party, I’ve been rocking my Converse and trying to find more ways to wear my All Stars! Now, I think I’m making progress, but for someone who has really nailed the Converse-are-cool-with-everything look, you have to check out Tanya Kovarsky, the blogger behind Rattle And Mum! It was Tanya’s instagram feed that inspired me to go out and get my first pair! She has such amazing All Star style and a super envious collection! After reading this you’ll know just what I’m talking about! SS: When did you purchase your first pair of Cons? TK: I got my first Cons when I was 15 – a pair of grass green low tops. SS: Interesting! I always thought that either black or white low tops were everyone’s “Converse starting point”. I thought I was being a rebel starting with black high tops 🙂 Any idea why you went for green, and more importantly do you still have them? TK: Unfortunately I don’t have them – I got them when I was in high school. I think I had hoodies in green that I wanted to pair them with, plus they were a gorgeous emerald green…

All Star Style! Converse are Cool!

All Star Style! Converse are Cool!

When it comes to iconic shoes, Converse are right up there! All the cool kids have Cons! Whether it’s baby (Harper) Beckham rocking her Cons, or street style bloggers, like two of my faves; This Chick’s Got Style and Sincerely Jules. I’m a fan of the Classic Cons like the All Star Low Top Sneakers in White and the All Star High Top Sneakers in Black, but I also love the All Star High Top Sneakers in Pink. Don’t they just look fantastic on Sincerely Jules? For more style options on how to wear Converse and look stylish, check out my Pinterest Board. Cons get dirty? Well, Converse are made for getting dirty, that’s why they developed a little saying that goes “shoes keep it clean, sneakers get dirty! Now tell me, which are your favourite Converse styles? Are you a low top or high top gal? [poll id=”32″]
