One of the things I’ve been putting off, but really feel I need to focus on again, is sorting out my desk. It’s still filled with beauty products from last years’ features and old press releases. I love this desk by blogger Peep My Style… Here are some items I have my eye on… I friggin love this print by Don Oehl via 20×200. I think it would make an absolutely great feature on my wall! This little bunny from Loads of Living is super cute! I love the colour. I actually popped in to see if they had it at the Gateway store, but sadly nothing. I’ll keep my eye out for something similar though. I definitely need a new office chair. I’m thinking something white with a high back similar to this one from Sevens. Cute storage drawers from @home An iPig. Oink Oink Kikkerland mini grass charging station from Big Blue. I hate cables and this is a perfect way to keep my phone and other gadgets charged without the messy cables. What do you keep on your desk? How do you organise it?

I’m obsessed with vintage hat boxes. They are so girly so very cute, why don’t women use these anymore? They make great decor pieces for closets, bedrooms, bathrooms and even living spaces. I want to start getting some really old ones (with loads of character) to start displaying in my closet room. They are too pretty and make great storage spaces too! I’I bought this one from Lulu Shop, an online thrift blog based in Durban that I want to use it to store and display my clutch purses. – Oh, speaking of closet room, stay tuned for my updated blog on it soon. This week I painted my cupboards, got a white fluffy rug and a new ottoman… I’ll also show you how I plan to use my hat box! PS – If you find any cool vintage hat boxes for sale online or in thrift stores, please comment below and let me know xo Dimi

That bug has bitten again! The decor bug that is! Lately, I’ve been inspired by French Bistro Menu boards. You know, those old fashioned chalk board menus that give a restaurant that old-school feel and so much character? My kitchen at home has a bit of a Bistro look to it. The cupboards are a mix of dark Meranti wood with a few white washed cottage styled contrasting cupboard doors. When we bought our house, the kitchen was the selling point for me. Immediately, I felt like I was in a cooking kitchen; big, comfortable with loads of work space and a really nice, bistro feel. The only thing that kills my kitchen is the ugly-ass electricity DV board. Unfortunately you can’t take it away, so I’ve been looking at ways to cover it up and thought a nice Bistro Styled menu board would do the trick. Here’s some bistro inspiration… now to get arty!

While at the 15 on Orange Hotel for the Moroccanoil launch, I fell in love with these beautiful feathered lamps! They are so different and girly! I love them! They also give the room great ambiance and texture. After looking for them online, I discovered that these gorgeous lamps came from Haldane Martin in Cape Town. The Fiela Feather Arc Light was inspired by the lightness of dandelions and finished with soft white ostrich feathers from Oudshoorn. How beautiful! The price of the arc lamp was a little scary! R14 473! Eeek! But if you’ve got the money to spend on it, then I envy you! Look how beautiful the two lamps look in the hotel atrium. The couch, is also a Haldane Martin design and would make an interesting and unique waiting area don’t you agree?

Just got my hands on Jonathan Alder’s book, Happy Chic Accessorizing and feeling very inspired by some of his design ideas. Like most of you that read this blog, I’m no interior decorator, but I do like everything to look like it’s been expertly chosen and placed, whether its makeup, clothes, furniture or the odd vase in the corner. This book gives lovely ideas on how to place items on your coffee tables, how to decorate your bed and just general stuff on how to make everything look more, well, happy chic! Conformity is a bore, Jonathan’s mantra is classic foundation, playful punctuation and you’ll find a lot of this in his book. I’m off to make myself a big ol cup of coffee, put my feet up and and start reading. Oh, and speaking of coffee… Jonathan Adler designs and sells a wide range  of cute accessories (among other things via his site), but I do love this stylish, eco coffee cup he designed for Starbucks Buy this book online from Kalahari

I’m having so much fun on my iPad, it really is the most awesome thing ever! One of the apps I recently bought was the MoodBoard Pro app. I had the lite (in other words, free) version for a while and found it to be a little boring as you could only do one mood board at a time, and the number of images you could place was limited. The pro version however, is awesome! Awesomeness for under $10 and under R100! It’s prefect for organizing and saving all your favourite things and finding inspiration. You could use it for fashion mood boards (or how I have below), to create mood boards of home decor ideas. Heck, you could use it for anything! The best thing about it besides beeing fun to use, with little drawing pins and tape effects, but I love how you can clip images off websites and it saves the link within the image, so that you can refer to it later. You can create colour pallets by importing images from the web or your iPad photogallery and you can share your board with friends on email, Facebook or Twitter – how cool. Check out my…

Im so excited! Eeeeek, I can barely contain myself – calm down, calm down, calm down. Ok, whew, I’m back… Last week my hubby and I put in an offer for our very first, free standing home – no more complex living for us – happy dance-. Well, without jumping the gun, everything seems to be signed, sealed and (almost) delivered and if all goes as plan, we’ll be making the big move soon. It’s an old home, but a homey one and one that we’ll have so much fun fixing up. He’s planning what he’s going to break down and I’m planning what I’m going to fix up, but not walls, more like buy new furniture and revamp the space! Men are from Mars, women from Venus. I’ve given myself three places to start… The Entrance Hall as it’s a focal point and needs to look inviting My “Carrie Closet” – Ill explain later, and My Office My current home office is very bright and while I do love it, I’ve had it this way for a while now and need something new. So, for my new space I’m thinking something more minimalistic, something all white with splashes of…

It’s amazing how much a cluttered desk can stress you out. I’m one of those types of people who somehow (don’t ask me how) manages to live in a heap of organized chaos. Generally there is makeup, press releases, cd’s, notes, pens and empty coffee cups all over my desk. Surprisingly enough, I always seem to know exactly where everything is among the clutter, but then sometimes I get a bee in my bonnet where I have to go from extreme mess to extreme neatness.
