Must Have Winter Accessory – The Snood

Must Have Winter Accessory – The Snood

One accessory I’m loving at the moment is the Snood. Somewhat of a combination between a hoodie and a scarf, this little accessory makes any outfit look stylishly put together! Check out some of these hot snoods… I’d love to get my hands on more of these. They are perfect for Autumn-into-winter and also for our Durban winters, for those days when you need a little warmth but not too much! What do you think of the snood trend?

Front Row with Amber Jones

Front Row with Amber Jones

Living in Durban and married to the love of her life, with a bulldog named Dennis and a Boston Terrier named Frank, Amber Jones is a fashion icon, designer and the quirky, retro-cool chick behind the blog, Thunder in Our Hearts. Amber lives and breathes fashion with an insanely obsessive addiction to magazines. If she was’nt in fashion, Amber reckons she’d probably have been a florist in another life. In this week’s Front Row With series we chat with Amber on her second line (launched recently in Mr Price), find out what defines style and what you need if you want to break into fashion… Your blog, thunderinourhearts.com is filled with cool content that inspires and excites you, tell us a bit about how you came up with the name Thunder In Our Hearts? I heard the lyrics of a Kate Bush song and then found an insane tote bag on Fieldguided with the words printed onto it. Most often for me seeing something my eye finds really pleasing has a physical feeling attached to it – think it feels a bit like Thunder… How did you get started in fashion? I studied a BA Hons in fashion at Linea Academy…

Front Row with: Superficial Girls

Front Row with: Superficial Girls

Lately, I’ve been hooked Carlinn’s blog Superficial Girls. She’s a local (Cape Town Girl) blogger who posts outfit blogs, almost every day. If she’s not posting her outfit photo’s she showing her fave beauty products, DIY fashion accessorizing projects and well, just about everything in between! Her blog is vibrant, crisp and clean and her photos are amazeballs! Her style is fun, sophisticated and girly, plus she’s pretty to boot! I just knew that I had to feature Carlinn in my first Front Row with… series, which will be a weekly series here on StyleScoop, going behind the scenes of people living and working in the fashion, beauty and style world. Enjoy the first installment… How did you get started in fashion blogging? When we moved overseas three and a half years ago, I felt like I needed to do something other than just go to the beach (we lived on an island), so I started a lifestyle blog that turned into a beauty blog then evolved into more fashion with a sprinkle of beauty decor and food. You have such beautiful photographs on your blog. Do you have a professional who takes them or do you take them yourself?…

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

A Dress So Pretty, It Makes you Want to Sing

Ever bought a dress you loved so much it made you want to burst out into song? Well I did, and I love it so much, I won’t sing, but I thought I’d blog it. It’s from a brand called Mink Pink which is available at Stuttafords, and I scored this lil’ number on sale for R349! Original Price R699. Gotta love half price sales. The fit of this dress is incredible, it’s really flattering and while it’s ladylike and conservative, it has a certain element on youth and playfulness. I also like the elastic band high up on the waist, give it a really nice flow without looking too bulky. I love the bright red and blue flower detail and the sheer sleeves. It would look really great with my Levis’ biker jacket – giving it that bit of a “rocker” edge. I’ve always wanted to pair this jacket with something floral, but nothing to frou-frou-frilly if you know what I mean. These are my Steve Madden Trinitie court shoes in electric blue. I love them! I’ve never worn them with a dress before, I always felt I looked a bit Minnie Mouse, but they seem to be the…

When in doubt, wear Levi’s Skinny Boot – Outfit Post

When in doubt, wear Levi’s Skinny Boot – Outfit Post

As you already know I live in my Levi’s Demi Curve ID jeans! Recently I’ve been living in a new pair, other than my skinny jeans. The Levi’s Curve ID Skinny Boot is the next best thing, and if you don’t know which style to get in your Curve ID, this is the one! The leg is tailored and fits perfectly, then flairs out just enough to cover your foot. These jeans look fantastic with a pair of heels and even flats. If you’ve got boots, you can even tuck them around the leg and you’re good to go, because they don’t add that much bulk. The whole Curve ID range has been designed to fit your shape, not your size and they have cuts for all booty types; Slight Curve, Demi Curve, Bold Curve and Supreme Curve. The Demi Curve ID frames perfect proportions, flatters your waist and smooths your shape. Take a look… I’m wearing my Levi’s Demi Curve Modern Rise Skinny Boot jeans. Im not sure of the exact name of the colour, but they are the classic indigo blue colour. The top is an old jersey I had in my cupboard (I don’t even remember where…
