Trend Alert: Scarf Prints and A Tribute to Madiba

Today is Nelson Mandela’s Birthday… Visionary, leader and fashion icon! Yes you heard me, fashion Icon! Scarf printed dresses, tops, trousers and tunics are hot fashion items right now. Many say this trend was inspired by Versace, which may be somewhat true, but I think the visionary behind this trend has got to be Nelson Mandela with his iconic, multi coloured Madiba Shirts… In celebration of Madiba’s birthday (he was born 94 years ago today on the 18th July 1918), we scoured the web to find scarf print pieces that we’re loving right now. Take a look… River Island Scarf Print dress, available here Lipsy Scarf Print Dress, available here Blue Scarf Print Dress, available here  Scarf Print Blouse from ZARA Eliza Floral A-Line Skirt (R599) from Forever New Loin Cloth & Ashes Afro top from 36 Boutiques PS! Wear the Trends Six Ways with Fashion Blogger Sydne Summer

Wear the Trends Six Ways with Fashion Blogger Sydne Summer

A few days ago, fashion blogger @sydnesummer tweeted  “How I celebrated the last day of summer“. In South Africa, we’re heading into the glorious season of sun and sand, and so I was immediately intrigued by the title. I clicked only to find myself hooked on her website, ThinkThruFashion.com and her super cool ttF Fashion Staples Series for hours. Sydne blogs every day, showcasing stylish ways to wear six key items she picks out every month. Last month her focus was on an August Safari.  Her six key items included a tribal necklace, a military jacket, a canvas belt, an olive dress, a taupe bag and gorgeous snakeskin wedges. The aim of her ttF Fashion Staples Series is to show you how to make the most of what you’ve got in your wardrobe. Every day Sydne wears one of her monthly staples and blogs her outfit. At the end of the month, she posts a recap and shows you how to wear each of the six items at least six different ways. This is a great way to get inspired with different ways to wear your outfits and the six items staple is the perfect blueprint to make sure you wear the seasons key trends. Think…

Sushi, Cupcakes and Macaroons

Sushi, Cupcakes and Macaroons

Every blogger I know loves Macaroons. Throw a party, invite some bloggers and ensure you’ve got Macaroons freely on display, and you’ll have a room filled with very happy-snappy bloggers. Last night, a bunch of us Durban gal bloggers (and a guy), were invited to mix and mingle at Con Amore, a gorgeous store in La Lucia Mall. Sipping champers and munching on glorious cupcakes, sushi and macaroons (in that order), we finally got to meet each other and put a face to the blogger. It’s strange how we almost “knew” each other, yet we were complete strangers (outside Twitterville and the blogsphere that is). Well, not anymore and it’s all thanks to Candice from Con Amore. It’s kind of strange! Some people, you just recognize from their blogs like Lauren from Glossary Zine for instance. She’s totally adorable and the past couple of days I’ve been watching her blog obsessing over her photos. My hubz bought me a Cannon 500D a while ago and I swear it’s still brand new! I always complain that my pics suck, but I never practice. Well last night I decided to haul the big camera along and so glad I did. Lauren showed…
