My Fave Summer Fragrances

My Fave Summer Fragrances

It’s been a smouldering hot summer, but before we head on into Autumn, I wanted to share some of my favourite summer scents that I’ve been rotating throughout this gorgeous season. When the heat rises, I tend to gravitate towards fresh, bright, softer and more delicate scents. I’m not a fan of sickly sweet-floral or candy scents, but I do love the smell of freshly cut flowers or scents that remind me of summer gardens. YSL Black Opium One of my most worn scents this summer, especially for night, has got to be YSL Black Opium. This scent is soooo gorgeous and addictive! I guess the coffee bean note gives me an instant mind boost. I also love how it develops into a mix of jasmine and light vanilla before settling into woody and patchouli notes. HUGO BOSS MA VIE For day, I like to wear HUGO BOSS MA VIE. This scent is beautifully packaged in a gorgeous pastel pink bottle and is all about playfulness with a powerful dash of sexy. It opens with an invograting fresh note of Cactus Blossom, combined with notes of Suave Pink Freesia, Jasmine Petals and Delicate Rose Bud. L’Occitane Fleurs de Cerisier A…

Hermès Christmas Court

Hermès Christmas Court

I just came from the gorgeous Hermès Christmas Court in Sandton City.  If you ever wanted to smell something exquisite, then I highly recommend that you try Hermès fragrances out, for ladies and for guys too! You can sniff and experience all the scents at the Christmas Court and I love Jour d’Hermès for a bright and sparking scent for the ladies, and Voyage d’Hermès (which a mens cologne), but the scent is pretty unisex. I am sure a lot of ladies will love it! I do! For the guys, I’d recommend you try Hermès Terre d’Hermès, a very striking scent with a distinct splash of citrus. It actually reminds me of orange peels with woody notes. MMMM! Go and play and see for yourself if you’re in the area. The Hermès Christmas Court will be up until the 1st December 2014. That’s next week Monday, so be sure to check it out! It’s situated just in front of Edgars in Sandton City.

Hermès Jardin sur le Toit

Hermès Jardin sur le Toit

This month, luxury French brand Hermès introduces a new scent, Jardin sur le Toit (Garden on the Roof). Inspired by the garden rooftop of the Hermès building at 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, Jardin sur le Toit is a unisex scent that forms part of the fourth fragrance edition in the brands’ garden series. One spritz of this stuff and the feeling of spring fills the air (although, here in SA we’re heading into Autumn). Regardless, if you want to be transported to another place, a place like Paris, sitting on the top 24 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore street and looking down on the magnificent fashion-street of Paris, then Jardin sur le Toit will take you there. The fragrance is crisp and fresh with a distinct Hermès richness. Perfurmer Jean-Claude Ellena said he found it one day, right under his nose – The Hermes roof top garden. “My footsteps had produced a burst of aromas, lush grass, damp soil, and I loved letting them work their way inside me.” That’s a great way to describe this fragrance, and after allowing the fragrance to settle, it becomes reminiscent of lush green gardens; a pleasurable scent that instantly lifts your mood…

Scents of the Season – Hermès Eau Claire Des Merveilles

Scents of the Season – Hermès Eau Claire Des Merveilles

For today’s Scent of the Season, I profiled the new fragrance from Hermès called Eau Claire des Merveilles – my first taste of the Hermès brand. Like the brand itself, Eau Claire des Merveilles is a sophisticated fragrance; it’s chic, elegant and simple, yet stylish and has a definite element of allure. Although this scent is brand new, it adds another chapter to the original Eau des Merveilles fragrance which was created in 2004 by Ralf Schwieger and Nathalie Feisthauer. Eau Claire Des Merveilles, the work of perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena, is a play of creamy, powdery vanilla notes, cool and sparkling with a clear, airy veil of floral notes.
