Shop the cosiest winter knits

Before H&M rolled into the country, my favourite places to shop for the cosiest winter knits were at Zara and Country Road. But this season, I’m adding H&M (my fave place to shop) into my favourites selection, because their knitwear is just so friggin gorgeous!

I like to buy quality knitwear and usually look at the label to find ones that have at least some natural fibres in the mix, and I think H&M has hit the spot this season with some of their knits. And without letting go of my trusted favourites (ZARA and Country Road), today I’m showing you gals my fave pics from all three.

Winter Classics

My love for trenches continues! A trench is such a classic piece. It works all year round, no matter the season. I love the structured, almost military silhouette of this one I bought at ZARA recently. It always makes me feel polished and pulled together. My Perfect winter outfit! And what’s winter without a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Macchiato?! I swear, every time I’m at Mall of Africa, I just can’t resist my little Starbucks fix! I’m obsessed!

The Cashmere Sweater

After this weekend’s chilly blast, I thought today would be the perfect time to talk about one of my most coveted pieces – the cashmere sweater… The king of all knits! I popped into ZARA the other day and couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted the most perfect cashmere sweater ever! Spoiler alert… It is a heck of a pricey item and I am still weighing my options, so thought I’d share a few local finds if you too are looking to beat the cold in style with a little cashmere this season. I would probably never spend that kind of cash on a “department store” jersey. Shoes, yes – without blinking an eyelid – but clothes…. Let’s just say I’m not as blind when it comes to clothing prices as I am with shoes. I mean, give me any shoe, any price and I bet I could justify its worth! What can I say? It’s built into my DNA (thanks Dad). But cashmere is different. Branded or not, cashmere is a very special item and there are reasons for its hefty price tag. Excitement levels are on the rise as H&M opens it’s second store in South Africa this week! Cape Town may have been the first to experience H&M on South African soil, but Johannesburg fashionistas will be in for a treat, as the preview opening of the Sandton store (tonight), will release the much anticipated H&M X Balmaination Designer Collaboration. Swoon! Prices for this designer collection are not as bad as I had expected! Sure they ain’t cheap either, but I mean BALMAIN anything at those prices is a score! Hopefully I’ll fall in love with at least one of these beauts tonight and make it mine! But which one? I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now! H&M South Africa

Can I get a woo hoo and yeea-haa!? H&M is finally open in South Africa, and in case you live under a rock, the very first local store opened it’s doors last weekend in Cape Town at the V&A Waterfront. But don’t worry Jozi, H&M has already secured it’s spot at Sandon City (next to Accessorize on the upper level) and it will be open next month on the 7th November. Further stores are planned in the Autumn of 2016 at Alberton’s Mall of the South, Clearwater Mall and the Mall of Africa. I always used to get my H&M fix when I went to Greece to visit the familia, but sadly, I haven’t been to Greece in years (well two years actually) so I’ve really missed my little H&M annual splurge. But hey, good things come to those who wait, and now I can splurge all the friggin time as H&M will be right at my door – well almost, (it’s closer than Greece!) Price wise, I must say that I am impressed! I had a quick browse around the local South African website (YAY for that alone) and I am happy to say that H&M South Africa’s prices are spot on! You can pick up cute summer dresses…
