Hi There

Review: Filorga Nutri-Filler Lips

Review: Filorga Nutri-Filler Lips

I’ve become increasingly aware of how badly I treat my lips. All the trying and testing I’ve been doing, along with the long wearing lip products I’ve been into lately, plus the fact that the season is changing, has left them feeling a little neglected. No more thanks to the new Nutri-Filler Lips from one of my favourite skincare brands, Filorga.

ROUGE COCO – Gabrielle Chanel’s Lipstick Friends…

ROUGE COCO – Gabrielle Chanel’s Lipstick Friends…

If you were lucky enough to be friends with Coco Chanel and part of her inner circle, you may just have had a lipstick shade named after you! On the 20th March (which also happens to be my birthday), Chanel ROUGE COCO lipstick launches with 24 new shades (29 total). These will be available in six colour palettes, each one named after Mademoiselle Chanel’s closest companions, her friends, her loves and her muses… ROUGE COCO is multifaceted lipstick that embodies sensuality, joy and radiance. And let’s be honest, when you whip out a Chanel lipstick with its chic black metal case,  you instantly look more glamorous. The texture of these lippies, that can be worn day or night, is gentle, creamy and melts on the lips, giving them a satiny finish. It also gives the lips a boost of hydration. The shade selection of ROUGE COCO includes mischievous reds, delicate pinks, nude beige’s, intense plums and fresh oranges, so you can have your pick or take them all! I got to sample two of my favourite shades from this collection.  ROUSSY (426); a tender and vibrant pink and INA (450); a soft yet striking plum. Roussy Ina They are both…

Love is on! Revlon Ultra HD Lips

Love is on! Revlon Ultra HD Lips

Revlon has just launched what they’re calling a new generation of Ultra HD Lip Lacquers and Lipsticks, and I must say, I am in LOVE! Both the lipsticks and lip lacquers offer high definition shine, they are super pigmented and they come in the most amazing shade selection. Revlon Ultra HD Lip Lacquer offers bright, bouncy, lightweight colour that feels fabulous on the lips, while still giving you lush, shiny lips that look amaze! The formula is great and doesn’t feel sticky or gooey, and the colour pops like nobody’s business! They are beautifully packaged and come with a great little brush applicator that makes them go on really precisely. These are available in 15 high definition shades; 8 of them being basic shades, and 7 are limited editions. I got to sample Petalite a beautiful rosy pink, Strawberry Topaz a gorgeous, glowing coraly pink and Carnelian a bold burgundy. I’ve been carrying Petalite in my bag, because this shade just goes with everything. In winter, I’ll probably switch over to Carnelian as it’s the perfect bright winter lip. Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick is a wax-free, high-def gel lipstick that will make your lips stand out. The colour is 100%…

Berry Beautiful

Berry Beautiful

A little while ago, I met up with Charli from INGLOT, so that he could tell me about all the amazing new (makeup) things coming our way, from one of my favourite makeup brands. He gave me a few samples from the latest INGLOT Berry Collection to try them out. The nail colours, come in six fabulous shades and are all O2M Breathable Nail Enamels. Which is Inglot’s signature line that allows moisture and oxygen to pass through the nail colour, keeping your nails in tip top condition. I got to sample two colours. Shade 689 is a pretty gorgeous deep burgundy red, which I didn’t love at first. But once I put it on my nails, I was sold. I’m actually still wearing it on my toes, and it’s a really lovely plum red colour. The second shade, 691 is a royal purple that looks very much like black, but with rich purple tones. It’s a great colour for dark moods, and if you want to wear black, but not black if you know what I mean! Both of these are really nice, rich colours that will keep your nails happy for the last few weeks of winter! They lasted on my nails for three days without chipping, and my nails still looked healthy after…

MWAH! GOSH Kiss Me!

MWAH! GOSH Kiss Me!

It’s February, which means Valentines Day is only a few sleeps away! Pucker Up! Just in time for V-day, GOSH will be introducing their limited edition GOSH Kiss Me Moisturising Lip Balm Sticks, available in a six flirty shades, all named for the season of love; Innocent Kiss (natural/nude) First Kiss (light pink) Flirty Kiss (orange) Sweet Kiss (bright pink) Irresistible Kiss (deep red) Hot Kiss (hot red) I got to sample two of the six shades and I really like them. I also think that these Kiss Me sticks make the perfect handbag companion. They look so much cuter than traditional lip balm, and they pack a pretty punch of colour that’s not “too much”. I’m always weary of red lips on me (although I love red on others), so when I saw that the colour Hot Kiss was in my press pack I was a little nervous. While the colour looks intense on the packaging, the colour is a lot less “red” and just packs a pretty punch of colour. More like a berry stain rather than a slick of red lipstick. More my colour, I love Innocent Kiss, because it looks almost natural with a boost of prettiness. These…

Love Your Lips This Winter! My Top 6 Lip Balms & Treats

Love Your Lips This Winter! My Top 6 Lip Balms & Treats

Let’s talk about lips for a moment… Most girls I know are always on the look out for the perfect shade of lipstick. Yet, very few actually give their lips the proper love and care that they deserve. So today, I thought I’d give you a quick insight into some of my favourite lip balms and treatments for winter. Some of these products have been long time faves, with some new ones getting my nod of approval. Either way, these are my go to lip protecting products of the moment. Zam-Buk Original Let’s start with my favourite of the lot! The Real Makoya! Zam-buk (the green one, not featured in the image above)! I’ve been using Zam-Buk original for years and it has never failed me. Not only is it an amazing lip product, but a great little goodie to carry in your handbag for emergency stings and burns. It’s such a miracle worker, that when my dad got stung by something on the beach in Greece, some old lady came running up to him, with her tin of Zam-Buk that she got from a cousin of a cousin’s cousin in “Afriki” (Africa). I use a teeny tiny bit, as too much leaves a film on my…

Beauty Bytes – Fab New Makeup Goodies

Beauty Bytes – Fab New Makeup Goodies

Here’s a quick beauty byte on some of the amazing new makeup goodies I’ve been playing with recently. Tried, Tested and LOVED (as always)! Woolworths Makeup Wink, Wink, Blush, Blush! Woolies have launched an exciting new range of makeup that’s bang on trend and budget friendly! Some of the goodies I got to try: WINK Eyeshadow trio (R49.95) and BLUSH lip & cheek tint (R49.95). The eyeshadow I got to play with, Khol Maybe is absolutely stunning. I’m in love with the burgundy shade on the right and the khaki green on the left is also gorgeous. A great combo for winter! These WINK shadows are highly pigmented and great for adding metallic colour to your lids. In general I don’t like using the applicators that come with compacts, and prefer to use my MAC 217 blending brush to create a blended shade and my MAC 239 brush to pack on the colour.  You can even amp up the intensity of these shadows by dipping your 239 brush in a drop of water before packing on the colour. This will make your eyes pop! The BLUSH lip and cheek tint is a lovely cream blush that diffuses effortlessly on the cheeks and adds a perfect pop of colour to your lips.…

Butter Up – Lip Butters You Will Love

Butter Up – Lip Butters You Will Love

Lip butters are the latest makeup goodies on everyone’s lips. Our UK columnist, Bronwyn mentioned the arrival of these lip butters in her blog post back in May, and now I’ve had the chance to try them out for myself. I can definitely see what all the fuss it about! They are awesome! Perfect for summer, these lip butters moisturize your lips and give you a nice sheen of fabulous colour. They are not quite like lip gloss, in that they don’t make your lips shine and aren’t as “heavy” as lipsticks either. Lip Butters are the perfect in betweners and make your lips feel butter soft! The two ranges I got to play with came from Revlon and L’Oreal. Take a look… Revlon Lip Butters Revlon calls their lip butters Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter and I got to try out three of the shades; Berry Smoothie, Creamsicle and Tutti Frutti. Of the three, I absolutely love Berry Smoothie. It’s about the same shade as my own lips, so really gives them a nice punch! I do love Cremsicle which is a more nude colour, but sadly it doesn’t go to well with my skin tone. If you love nude, creamy shades, then definitely try…

Review: Filorga Lip-Structure

Review: Filorga Lip-Structure

Filorga recently launched their new rock-star product, LIP-STRUCTURE and we got to test it out. Filogra, which is a French brand renowned for it’s medical and injectable expertise has created the first, complete anti-aging treatment for both the lips and the perioral (mouth) area. LIP-STRUCTURE is a dual serum that targets the various aging aspects of the lip and mouth. The white end of the product is a Lip Densifyer that contains a blend of emollients, combined with palm and rapeseed oil and sorbitol. It stimulates the collagen in the cells of the lips to enable healing and restorative action. The black end of the product is for use on the Peri-Oral-Zone (the mouth area) and contains Matrixyl Synthe 6, which is a powerful peptide that boosts the synthesis of six structural components of the skin that surrounds the lips, that restructures the skin and smoothes out fine lines and wrinkles. To use this product, first make sure your lips and mouth area are clean and makeup free. Start on the black end and using the applicator, apply the product around the mouth avoiding the lips. Then use the white end of the product on your lips, like you would lip gloss. You can apply the black zone over your day cream.…
