Rose Bud

Rose Bud

My nails are so happy to have Shellac back on – yay! Loving this soft, pretty and very girly pink from Shellac called Rose Bud. I do love my pinks, and while I normally opt for brighter colours, I decided to tone down the shade with something more muted, since I wanted a subtle nail art effect this time around. Check out the “bling” on my ring finger. I think works perfectly with this colour. What’s your fave colour right now?

Cake Pop

Cake Pop

Nude nails have always been a favourite of mine, but add a little pop of pink to nude nail polish and you’ve got me drawing hearts and feeling full of love! Since I had a little pre-summer summer, I already know what nail polish is going to be my favourite this season! I wore this colour, CAKE POP throughout my entire summer holiday in Greece, and it will probably remain my colour of choice as we head into summer here in South Africa! Two summers in a row for me – whose a lucky girl?? Anyhoo! Before we left for our holiday, the lovely Jo-D painted my nails in Shellac Cake Pop. The colour lasted me two weeks and a bit, before it drove me nuts and I had to remove it. Thankfully though, Jodes gave me a bottle of VINYLUX in the exact same colour and Weekly Top Coat to keep me going. For the first couple of days, after my Shellac had grown out, I touched up with VINYLUX, which is the exact same shade, and it worked well. But, I can’t stand my nails looking uneven, so into my third week of Shellac, I had it removed…

Chanel Nail Personality: Party Girl

Chanel Nail Personality: Party Girl

Like most girls, I’m obsessed with nail polish. A quick mani or pedi with a fresh new colour on your fingers or toes can really transform your mood. If you don’t have a lot of money, or time to buy a new dress or pair of shoes, then painting your nails is the next best thing. Actually, I think it might be better in some instances – like for example, when you get to paint them with a luxurious, gorgeous coat of Chanel nail polish. For the next few days, I’ll be channeling a new personality by painting my nails in different colours from the lust worthy and totally yummy Chanel Le Vernis collection! Before I begin, I need to mention that I’m a Chanel virgin – or at least I was a few weeks ago. Now, I’m a fond follower and a believer (can you also hear the Shrek song in your head?). What makes Chanel nail polish so special, besides it being Chanel (hello!) is that the colour is, in one word, magnificent! A lot of nail polishes need two to three (sometimes even more) coats to make the colour as intense as the bottle. Well, not Chanel.…

Chanel Christmas makeup collection 2010

Chanel Christmas makeup collection 2010

I know, I know, we’re still in October, which may be too soon to be talking about Christmas, but it’s never too early to talk about makeup. Feast your eyes on Chanel’s Christmas 2010 collection – a gorgeous, heart-stoppingly beautiful limited edition range, that hits counters in the second week of November. Hot pink nails, glossy lips and fuchsia-infused cheeks with sprinkles of gold in a tweed design. A quad of four indulgent eye shadows (two dark and two light) is the shining star of this collection. For the lips its a choice of Patchouli – a light copper or Magnoilia a soft and feminine pink. I love the Pulsion Le Vernis Nail Colour from this collection. It’s the hottest pink without being too bright, so you can wear it feeling like a stylish, sophisticated woman and not a colour-crazed teen – although there is nothing wrong with that either! I think we might even make it StyleScoop’s official nail colour – What do you think? 🙂 Keep an eye out for this collection and get it before it’s too late! The limited edition collection is expected to sell out before the end of Jan next year so don’t say…

Glam Rock beauty

Glam Rock beauty

Glam rock is a fun, sexy way to wear your makeup. Glam up the eyes and leave the lips nude for the day and then transform into a sexy siren by adding a pop of bright colour to your lips.  Lady Gaga has nailed glam-rock to perfection, with nude lips and diva eyes, but Christina Aguilera rocks it with clean, porcelin skin, dramatic eyes and intense lips. It’s easy to create the glam rock look when you have the right products.  I’ve been playing with a few brands this past week, testing them out, trying on new looks and really having fun with the whole glam-rock look, to bring you this week’s beauty feature… Rimmel London Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner in Aqua Glow is great for applying precision liner to your lids and the colour is simply stunning.  I really like doing the whole “carbon copy” eye with a black gel liner (see 7) and then adding a stoke of colour with this product to the outer corners.  The easy to use applicator makes it simple to use.  I also like applying just a bit of this color to the ends of my lashes lashes after applying mascara and…

Pure Pink Make up trends

Pure Pink Make up trends

Ive always been a huge fan of the colour pink and I’m loving the million and one shades of pink this season.  From soft, pretty pastels to bright, defined pink lips and nails. On the runways of Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Valentino and Michael Kors, a softer shade of pale pink, almost natural lips were key elements – but with all the fabulous shades out there, there is no doubt that hot pinks will remain a season staple.  Nothing looks sexier than tanned legs, with perfectly manicured hot pink toes against the beach, bronzed sand. Do bright lips like Rihanna – Gorgeous against darker or tanned skins, just make sure you try out a variety of shades before picking one that you love.  Charlie by Revlon has an amazing range of funky colours including (1) Not Quite Pink, (2) Spring Heather and (3) Pink Kiss Make a sexy statement with these rich shades of pink and purple.  (1) Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Softsilver Rose, (2) Revlon Nail Enamel in Love Her Madly, (3) The Body Shop Sheer Lip Colour in Pink, (4) Revlon Nail Enamel in Iced Mauve Tell us what you think of hot pink shades?
