Do this Weekend at Mustang Sally’s

If you’re looking for something super cool to try this weekend, I’ve got you covered! Just put on your cowboy boots (ok, you don’t really need cowboy boots) and head North to Mustang Sally’s, the coolest, retro, pub and diner Gauteng has ever seen!

It’s off the charts! With milkshakes that will blow your mind, and food that’s so yummy and loaded, you probably won’t have room for dessert!

Jacarandas in Cullinan

Jacarandas in Cullinan

Going to see the Jacarandas in full bloom in Cullinan has been something I’ve wanted to do for ages. Last year, we attempted to go and see them, but I think we might have been a bit too late as they had already finished blooming in November. This year though, I wasn’t about to let them get away from me.

Romantic Weekend Getaway

Romantic Weekend Getaway

Last weekend was one of the best we’ve had in ages. In March, we celebrated our 8-year wedding anniversary and I really wanted to do something special, so we headed out to “the country” for a romantic weekend getaway at the beautiful Kievits Kroon Country Estate in Pretoria. This 16-hectare estate is a true gem! It’s like being in the beautiful Cape Winelands, without venturing too far from home. Well, if your home is in jozi that is! Lush and tranquil, Kievits Kroon is a country escape that has everything you need to relax, unwind and enjoy life’s little pleasures. From the moment you enter the estate, Manor Lane greets you a with a breathtaking pathway lined with the most beautiful setting of trees. As you drive through the estate, you cant help but appreciate all the picture perfect scenery that awaits. We took advantage of the surroundings and snapped some pics of my new trench coat which I love, but for today, I want to tell you all about our stay, and I’ll share the style post with you tomorrow. We checked into our VIP Suite on Friday afternoon and spent some time exploring and admiring the grounds before our dinner reservation at the Granita Restaurant. What I absolutely love about Kievits Kroon’s accommodation,…

3 Burger Joints to Try This Weekend

3 Burger Joints to Try This Weekend

If you don’t have anything planned this weekend, then check out my three favourite burger joints to give you something yummy and fun to do….  Rocomammas – Rivonia Go there for hip vibes, craft beer and a “not so normal burger” Rocomamas have the BEST BURGERS in town! Even more than that, the option to customise your burger (exactly how you want it), and the hip and vibey staff make this a great place to hang while you fill up on good food. The menu concept is pretty cool! You get a form with a whole bunch of options on it, and you basically check the box to customise your creation to your heart’s content! So let’s say you start with a 150g Smashed Beef Burger, then you want to add Blue Cheese Dressing, Pickles, Caramalized Red Onions and lets say Bacon, just check all the options, choose whether you want fries or not and then give it to your waiter. This customization allows you to go a little crazy (if you’re into that), but they also have the option to choose their standard burgers like the Classic Cheese, Old Skool, Bacon Cheese & Guac or the Rock Star. I thought I was…

Grand White Dinner – Pretoria 2015

Grand White Dinner – Pretoria 2015

The #GrandWhiteDinner, was held for the first time in Pretoria this year, and what an amazing event to be part of! The secret location, which ended up being the beautiful Pretoria Botanical Gardens, was only revealed a few hours before the event. Thousands of guests gathered, dressed in all white with a touch of green to eat delicious food, listen to live music, drink champers and just have a good time! And a good time was surely had! I swear, I felt like like I was an extra in some surreal movie scene. Life-size porcelain dolls, jugglers, ribbon dancers, stilt walkers and more walked about, while amazing acts including French DJ -Didier Moesus, Jody & Callen from Acoustic Element, songstress Lisa Goldin and singer Ricky Botsis swooned us with their sound. The MC for the night was none other than funny man, Marc Lottering, who was such a pleasant guy that had no problem with hoards of fans approaching him to get their picture taken. Speaking of pictures, I snapped away all day and night, to give you guys a little taste of this fabulous event.   This event is definitely going down on my list of things to do every year! If you’ve never been before, trust me when I…

The Grand White Dinner

This year, The Grand White Dinner, an international all-white affair comes to Pretoria. And it’s all happening tomorrow (28 March 2015). I’m super excited to be on the guest list and I’ve got my “all white with a touch of green” outfit ready to wear! The location is still a secret, and will only be revealed on the day, but it sounds exciting! Tickets for the Pretoria event sold out pretty fast, but they released 30 more seated tickets today, so, If you’re in the mood for doing something fun and interesting on your Saturday, then be sure to nab those tickets, here!   There will still be Grand White Dinner events in Johannesburg (18th April 2015), followed by Durban (25th April 2015) this year, as the Mother City already got a taste of all things white and it looked amazing! For more information on The Grand White Dinner and to see pictures from past events, visit their Facebook Page.

Park Acoustics with GAP

Park Acoustics with GAP

The thing I love about Jozi, is there’s always something to do! About two weeks ago, the hubz and I headed to Park Acoustics courtesy of GAP. It’s such a fun vibey event, and definitely a fabulous way to spend your Sunday! Park Acoustics happens every last Sunday of every month at the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria. August’s event took place inside the Fort, and it was a really great way to watch some cool local acts including; Boo!, New Academics, Momentss & Manny Walters and Pretoria locals George Town. It was great fun, but we were kinda silly and didn’t come prepared for the sun, so sadly didn’t get to see all the bands. But seriously, 27 degrees in Jozi in September! I didn’t expect that! I packed my trusty “on-the-go” picnic basket (Salticrax, Smoked Oysters and Tabasco Sauce) and we watched the show from what seemed to be the “kings seats”, on the edge of the fort walls, looking down at the acts 🙂 Next month it’s going to be even better, and I will at least take sunscreen and a hat! I can’t wait for the 28th! I’ve added the flyer to the end of the post, but stick around because I’ll be hosting a…
