Designer Spotlight – Suzaan Heyns

Designer Spotlight – Suzaan Heyns

[tps_header] I’ve been obsessed with South African designer Suzaan Heyns since I shared this pic on my Instagram. This mesmerizing creation walked the runway at the SA Style Awards and literally took my breath away! I guess, you could call it my love at first sight moment with Suzaan Heyns! I practically had dreams about this dress! For days. Not hard to imagine since it is so magical and truly the stuff that dreams are made of! I love how she mixes texture! I mean, who would imagine that cagey leather corsets could work so magnificently with soft, feminine fabrics – like chiffon and then further complimented with bold, angelic prints? An artist! An artist named Suzaan Heyns! One of her more recent creations, is this amazing dress that was showcased at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week earlier this month. I spotted it in her store at Melrose Arch and had to take a closer look. Layers of lust! This creation is part of her “The Wanton” – Autumn/Winter 2015 runway collection, that was inspired by Robert Graves’ poem Down, Wanton Down! It’s another masterpiece, where she has once again mixed up different textures to create a jaw dropping work of…

Lou Harvey Bags Are TOTES Amazing!

Lou Harvey Bags Are TOTES Amazing!

I must be living under a rock! I mean seriously, how long has it taken me to get my hands on Lou Harvey, the awesome brand of cute and eye catching bags?! Last week, I accidentally discovered the Lou Harvey factory shop in Hillcrest. I was as excited as waiting for the Tooth Fairy! I went to this kitchen supply store (I’m not even sure what it’s called), which I have been to many times before, looking for vases. I had some time to spare, so walked around. Then, BANG! Hello Lou Harvey! It was like being trapped in a candy store! Full of colourful candy in all shapes and sizes! YUM! And like candy, I wanted every flavour, every style, every colour, every shape… everything! I think I may have spent at least an hour, just deciding on what I wanted! It was all so predddddy! Now, as tough as the decision I was faced with was, they were having a sale, to make things harder for me. So there was no way I could walk out with just one item! Not that these bags are at all badly priced, but I’ve been trying very hard to save for our overseas trip next…

Summer Lust Lists – Robyn Cooke

Summer Lust Lists – Robyn Cooke

Today we take a look at Robyn Cooke, Madame Style Guide CT’s Summer Lust list. If you haven’t heard of Robyn Cooke, you haven’t heard of blogging – she’s one of SA’s best known fashion bloggers, with an eye for detail, an incredible sense of style, and oh, she’s also the Fashion Editor at O Magazine South Africa. 1. Lalesso Dress Top of my list for summer is a Lalesso dress from South African Designers at Woolworths. I love to support local fashion. I adore Alice from Lalesso. The Woolies prices are affordable. And the dresses are super-cute and perfect for a hot summer in Africa. Sold! 2. Cute Kitten Heels Also on my list for this season is (yet another) pair of cute, pointy kitten heels from Jimmy Choo. I try only to buy Jimmy Choo shoes by saving up for the best I can afford. It feels like luxury, lasts like luxury and makes my feet very, very happy. 3. 50’s Inspired Swimsuit The other thing that I lust after for the season is 50s style one-piece bathing costume – in modern lycra. This is an almost impossible task, one that I have set myself every year for…
