Piz Buin Summer

Piz Buin Summer

The past week has been an absolute scorcher and I’ve been spending many blissful hours outside by the pool, soaking up the sun and working on my tan! Thankfully I had a whole bunch of sun protection goodies from Piz Buin to review I’ve always loved Piz Buin products; they all have a distinct, yet pleasant smell and the brand has been around since I can remember, so I trust them completely to keep me sun-smart safe. Piz Buin Active Long Lasting Spray This has got to be my favourite! I love aerosol sunscreens because I find them the easiest to apply, especially while you’re sitting on the beach, in the blistering heat. It has a non-greasy formula and is water and sweat resistant with a long lasting effect. I also love the high pressure of the aerosol when spayed, because it comes out nice and cold! Great for cooling down in the heat and an incentivized way to keep applying more protection. Piz Buin Tan Intensifier Spray If you’re a sun worshiper, like me, then you’ll love this one. A protecting spray that has been made with tanning in mind. While it protects the skin with UVA and UVB,…

Have your fun in the sun

Have your fun in the sun

Tired of those white-as-a-ghost legs? Me too! I can’t wait to go out and enjoy some fun in the sun, just as soon as this dreaded rainy and cold Spring weather makes way for summer! With that, it’s time to consider protecting your body against the harmful rays of the sun! Tropitone has long been one of my favourite sun protection brands, simply because it does a great job and they have a complete range of products to suit your needs. Plus it’s a local brand and we love anything that’s made in SA. For days when I want to get my tan on, I love using Troptione’s Deep Tan Oil because it helps to build that beautiful, Caribbean-style tan. It’s only got an SP factor of 6, so it’s quite low, but since I am already blessed with Mediterranean olive skin, I can handle it. I also love the coco-nutty smell and how it makes my body look bronzed on the beach, while I’m tanning. For days when I want to have a little fun and hit the waves or enjoy a game of beach volleyball, I prefer to us Tropitone Acti-Sport. Acti-Sport comes in SPF’s of 15 or…

Spring into Summer

Spring into Summer

I recently got a little sneak peek into some of the fabulous goodies on offer at Woolworths this summer. I’m excited about all the pretty pastels and light, easy to wear items. My favourite item are these super hot RE: snake print skinny jeans. They are cropped at the ankle and look great with heels, sandals and especially wedges! Cute pastel pretty lemon lace vest. I love the faux pocket zip detail. Slouchy is so in this season and this RE: top is perfect for layering over your vest for chilly evenings, or for the transition from Spring into Summer. A trendy way to wear over sized tops is to wear them off one shoulder with a pretty top peeking out underneath. Love, love, love this crushed-look button up shirt. It looks like denim but it’s much lighter and perfect for spring. There are a zillion ways to wear this one… buttoned up, unbuttoned over a vest or even tied at the ends to turn it into a casual cool crop top. I’m especially fond of the the sleeve, which has these cute outer buttons and tie detail. Great for rolling it up to wear as a three-quarter sleeve. Look out for crop pants…

Shop of the Week Kangol Bikini 2 Pack

Shop of the Week Kangol Bikini 2 Pack

Last year, I bought the most awesome bikini set from Kangol. The set included a plain, bright blue bikini top and bottom as well as a second matching top and bottom in black. I had hoped that they would bring out something similar this year and they have! This gorgeous royal purple bikini that comes with a matching striped set too. What I love most about these bikinis, is that they fit really well and feel comfortable. Plus in both sets (this years and last years set) you could mix and match the tops and bottoms to have not two, but four bikini style options. This is a great buy if you’re on the hunt for a bikini this summer! They are sold in two-packs (tops and bottoms separately) and are reasonably priced. The two bikini tops cost R259.95 (for the set) and R219 .95 for the 2 bottoms, also sold as a set. The other great thing about buying tops and bottoms separately is that you can get different sizes if you’re smaller on top and bigger at the bottom, or visa versa (lucky you!). Have you started hunting for your perfect bikini yet?

Your Working Wardrobe at Woolworths

Your Working Wardrobe at Woolworths

Ahh, back to work! How’s your working wardrobe looking? Are you ready to take on 2012 with a business bang? Here’s StyleScoop’s guide to looking cool at the office. I love wide leg trousers, especially when it comes to looking professional and pulled together. When these trousers hit the floor at just the right spot, they can make your legs look miles long and slim your physique. Remember though, when wearing loads of fabric at the bottom, it’s best to keep it minimal on top. A pretty blouse in a soft fabric is ideal. Just tuck it in to reveal a small waist. Wide Leg Pants: studio.w (from R299), Floral Pussy Bow Swing Shirt: Classic Collection (from R225), Smudge Spot Swing Vest: studio.w (from R180). For a really striking, classic look go for wide leg pants with a plain white or cream shirt or blouse, Kim Kardashain Style. The RE: Plain Utility Shirt is a great option, while the cream studio.w Pussy Bow Blouse makes for an interesting alternative to a plain white shirt. A classic bag is a work essential. From left; Classic Structured Zip Organiser – R275 and Classic Eyelit Ring Slouch Bag in gold or khaki – R199. A…

Woolies Scoop – Ho Ho Holidays

Woolies Scoop – Ho Ho Holidays

It’s official! The holidays are upon us. Time for shopping, queuing, fighting over the last red bauble and thinking about what we’re going to wear and serve at our Christmas family dinners and luncheons. Don’t worry though, as Woolies has you covered for a fabulous holiday season. In August this year, I went to Woolworths’ Media Day, where they displayed all the lovely goodies that will be in store this Christmas. I had to restrain myself from tweeting and posting all these gorgeous pics I snapped up, as we were asked to keep everything hush hush. Today I get to reveal all! Fashion, food, fun! Fashion First on the to-do list, is to get your Christmas outfit (or outfits) sorted! There is such a beautiful selection of summer dresses at Woolworths this year, I’m sure you’ll find your perfect match. Although I already did a post on holiday dresses, I decided to pop into Woolies again to see what else they had in store, something a little more festive you know? This green dress from Twist (R399 top left) caught my eye immediately. In fact, I left with one in my shopping bag and if the weather warms up here…

Big City Brights

Big City Brights

I’m so excited for summer and all the gorgeous brights! I shopped a little at Gateway this weekend, actually a lot, but picked up some really nice bright sparks… Cute tee’s, bangles, flats and belts without breaking the bank! Take a look… First up, this gorgeous brightly coloured striped tee from Mr Price! Believe it! I am very impressed with the selection Mr Price has these days, and this gorgeous tee is just one of my many purchases from Mr Price. I love it because it’s over-sized so looks casual cool paired with skinny jeans and some cute flats. I also like how it can be pulled to one side, revealing a tanned shoulder. These flats, also from Mr P grabbed my eye. I love the mix of colours and the cute rope detail. My fave is the zip-up back which has a striking metallic gold finish. I’ve had my eye on these pink and orange skinny belts from Woolworths for a while now. I was so glad to see that they were’nt sold out, so I snapped them up straight away! Aren’t they funky? These stacking bangles are my fave purchase of the day! As you know, I’m obsessed…

Woolies Scoop – Holiday Summer Dressing

Woolies Scoop – Holiday Summer Dressing

In a few days, I’m off to beautiful Cape Town to enjoy some much-needed R&R with my hubby, and I’m sure many of you have summer holidays planned this festive season. But what do you wear? What do you pack? Where do you shop? Well, I’m happy to report that I was at Woolworths the other day, scouting for some essential summer holiday pieces for my trip, and I found just about everything I need to make it a summer of fun! You’ll find beautiful dresses, gorgeous fitting swimsuits and accessories that will add that je ne sais quoi to your holiday dressing. What I’m really loving is how most of these pieces work together, and by simply slipping on a pair of heels, adding a cinched belt and metallic bag, how easy it is to take your day dress to a bar-approved look, fit for a night of cocktails and dancing at St Yves in Cape Town. Take a look… Black & White Delight When in doubt wear black and white! This polka dot bikini (R150 top and R100 shorts) will have you looking hot on the beach. Just add a gorgeous white sun hat (R99.95) and you’re ready…

The Weekend Wrap

The Weekend Wrap

This weekend was very chilled, and spent mostly indoors. With the doom and gloom weather of Durban, there wasn’t much to do. On Saturday, I (of course) watched the big Currie Cup game, where sadly my Sharkies lost to the Gauteng Lions. Yes I was upset, but in a way I’m glad the Lions won as they were the better team on the day. To show my support, I painted my nails in a Sharks design using Chanel Black Satin Nail Polish and my awesome Inglot nail art pen in number 29. The design was very striking and the black and white looks so good together. Who said you can’t support your team in style? There is really only one way to watch a rugby game (in my opinion at least) and that’s with a huge bowl of popcorn, good ‘ol South African biltong and Coke Zero. I know that most people do the whole beer and biltong thing, but I just haven’t acquired the taste for beer, and quite honestly, I’d rather spend the calories on chocolate. Did you know that 1 gram of alcohol contains 7 calories per gram? Fat on the other hand contains 9 calories per…
