Having been to Mauritius twice before, I thought I knew the island pretty well. Turns out, I got to experience a whole new kind of Mauritius in the South. On previous trips with my hubby, we stayed on the North Coast – and I pretty much know Grand Baie like the back of my hand. But this time the Mauritius I experienced was wilder, more idyllic, peaceful, serene and very different from the “buzzing touristy” island I’ve always know.
The South Coast of Mauritius is wild. It’s even referred to as the “Wild South” and you can tell. It’s much greener, where palm trees don’t dominate, but rather blend in with the lush vegetation. I even saw pine trees growing on the beach.View Post
One of my favourite experiences on our Mauritius trip, and one that felt – truly Mauritian – was our little rum tasting tour and touring the Mauritius Wild South.
Since we did the Catamaran excursion ten years ago when we visited, we opted for an inland tour of Mauritius instead.View Post
It’s been over a month since our magical holiday to the island of Mauritius, and judging by my Instagram feed, you can tell I’m still not over this paradise island. We had such an incredible stay and today, I wanted to share some of my Mauritius Travel tips and a visual story that may help you if you’re planning a visit to this East African gem.
Mauritius truly is a slice of paradise! From the beautiful beaches to the crystal clear waters with incredible sea life. Then there’s the five-star service (throughout the island), the flowing cocktails and of course, the fantastic weather.
But the one true thing that makes Mauritius so incredibly special, is it’s warm and friendly people who welcome you into their little corner of paradise – if only for a few days!View Post
How amazing a little trip to the Med would be! I miss those blue waters so much and would give anything to go back this summer! Well, by “this summer” I mean in July, when it’s summer there and winter here. And what better way to travel around the Mediterranean, or anywhere really, than with my favourite travel companion TUMI luggage?View Post
I always wanted to go to London. So when I found out I’d be traveling to London with River Island, a hot British fashion brand new to SA, I was over the moon! There was a lot I wanted to see, but there just wasn’t enough time to see it all. However, I did manage to squeeze in a few sights, a traditionally Brit Fish & Chips din-din and some shopping! The highlight of my trip no doubt, was visiting the River Island headquarters (check out my post and video here) and also attending their “RIxmas14” – Christmas in July press preview – which I’ll show you guys more of next week. For today’s post, I wanted to share a small photo diary of my trip. Going through these pics makes me want to go back all over again! London is such a buzzing, beautiful place. Even walking the streets is an amazing sight seeing experience! I love the old buildings, the fact that people walk – I’ve never walked so much in my life! And just the atmosphere in general. One of the things I really wanted to see was the “Coco Chanel Lampposts”. I read about the legend of these, I think in Camilla Morton’s, “How to Walk…View Post
I’ve done my fair share of air travel this year, and one thing that has really made it so much better, has been travelling with my TUMI TEGRA-LITE Carry on bag. It is such a great bag that is very, very light and has a really cool design. Plus, because it is a hard case, all my stuff stays exactly how I had packed it before getting on the plane. I’ve taken my TUMI with me on local trips to Cape Town and Jo’burg, and of course, it came with me on my trip to Greece and Dubai in August this year. I love how this bag glides through the airport, and I can wheel it behind me, next to me, or in front of me – which is a real bonus when trying to get through those narrow aeroplane isles! The fact that it is so lightweight means I can pack in more “stuff” on my travels. My makeup and beauty products alone tend to weigh me down on most trips, and let’s not forget the shoes – a girls’ gotta have options you know! When you have a bag that allows you to use the weight on your items and not…View Post

Well, for me anyway :-). I’m off with the Hubz to enjoy some fun in the Sun in Europe today and I can’t hardly wait. We’re off to Greece via Dubai for a whole month, and on the way back we’re spending a few days in Dubai, sightseeing and definitely some shopping! I always tend to overpack and end up not wearing 80% of what I cart along, so this time around I’ve tried to pack a little smarter. Besides, the more space you have, the more you can shop! My biggest problem is shoes! I want all of them “just in case”, which I’m sure many of you can relate to! For this trip I’ve packed one pair of heels, one pair of wedges that double up as “smart shoes”, three pairs of sandals (in black, nude and bright yellow) and my Havianas. Today I’m traveling with my fave, nude ballet flats, so covered there too! I think I’m pretty stored. My Hubz was actually shocked and impressed that I didn’t pack my whole shoe collection. Little does he know I plan on growing the collection while I’m in Europe and Dubai! The other thing I would love to…View Post
If you do a lot of traveling you know the importance of having a good quality travel bag. A bag that will make your trip from A-B seamless, comfortable and if you’re a StyleScoop reader, stylish as well! That’s why I am in love with my new TUMI Tegra Lite International Carry On bag. Last year I travelled to launches, events and client meetings in my TUMI Arrive bag, which I loved. The problem however, was that the Arrive bag was a little too heavy and most of the time I travel for just one night, so I prefer to take a carry on as apposed to checking in my luggage. But this year, things are looking up and whole lot lighter, as I’ll be traveling in my stylish new TUMI Tegra Lite Bag. When I received my bag, I was grinning from ear to ear. Not only is it super light, but it looks so darn good and I love the fact that it has a 4-wheel system, which means I can wheel it behind me or next to or in front of me. Perfect for walking down those super narrow aircraft isles. The exterior of the bag is super strong, made from Tegris,…View Post
I absolutely love my TUMI. It’s my most fabulous travel companion. The only problem with it, sometimes on local flights, is it’s a bit heavy to take on board with me; so I’ve got to check it in and then wait in anticipation that it comes out without getting hurt by those sometimes nasty airport people! But now there’s a new Tumi in town, the TEGRA-LITE â„¢, a super lightweight travel collection of gorgeous travel bags, that stay true to TUMI’s heritage of design innovation and just plain amazing products. Besides being super lightweight, the TEGRA-LITE range is super durable and strong, made from Tegris, which is a revolutionary polypropylene thermoplastic composite material created by Milliken® for use in lifesaving armor, NASCAR race cars and protective gear for NFL players! Impressive indeed! The TUMI TEGRA-LITE collection debuts in March 2012 at the South African TUMI stores.View Post
Travelling for beauty launches and events sounds like a lot of fun, and it is, but the actual packing part can sometimes be a nightmare. I hate having my clothes messed up in suitcases and certain items can end up looking rather ratty. Take for instance, your crisp black jacket. Fold it up in a travel bag and you’re almost guaranteed to get if full of creases. So how do you stop this without carrying it in it’s own suit bag (so not a good look for girls)? Well, I recently travelled with my TUMI Arrivé travel bag for the first time and don’t think I’ll be travelling without it again. I’ve got the TUMI Arrivé carry-on in Sable, and I recently discovered what makes this bag so dang fabulous. Let’s start with how gorgeous it looks; loads of zips and pockets, a combination lock and a pop out handle that makes gliding this bag simple and easy. It’s even got a handle that allows you to clip a laptop bag or vanity case onto the bag, so you don’t end up lugging loads of bags. It’s even got it’s own raincoat! On a recent trip to Cape Town it…View Post
