Opulent Florals for Winter – Shop the Look

Opulent Florals for Winter – Shop the Look

Remember that scene in The Devil Wears Prada, where boss lady Miranda pipes up and says, “Florals? For spring? Ground breaking!” I wonder if she thought about Florals for winter? The 70’s vibe is a huge hit for winter 2017, as is wearing pattern overload, texture and florals! So to give you some inspo into wearing the trend, I rounded up a few of my favourite, very 70’s, very textured and very floral winter must haves…

How To Shop Smarter, Spend Less & Love Your Wardrobe

How To Shop Smarter, Spend Less & Love Your Wardrobe

Buying new clothes can be exciting. It can also be a taunting experience, never mind stressful; especially with the big fat dent that’s left in your wallet. New season means new clothes right? Wrong! Over the years, I’ve learnt to shop smarter. I was just tired of having a cupboard full of clothes, and still faced with the common dilemma that is I have nothing to wear!

A Shoulder to Try On

A Shoulder to Try On

How cute is the off shoulder trend for summer? My favourite way to wear this trend is opting for a flowy, oversized off the shoulder top worn with cute denim cut offs or skinny jeans. It’s such a great, easy breezy look for warmer weather. Wear it two ways… Check out some of my fave in store picks, right now on how to nail this trend, whether you want to expose bare shoulders, or just show some skin…

Winter 2015 Trends at Edgars & My Must Have Winter Essentials!

If you’re not looking forward to winter, trust me when I say that the new range at Edgars, will have you feeling ready for a winter wonderland, in style! One of the key pieces and hottest trends to rock this winter is the Cape, and this one from Mango stole my heart! Isn’t she a beaut?! Denim will always have a place in my heart; winter, summer, autumn or spring and for this winter, I’m loving the whole western feel of these looks. Suede jackets, denim shirts and my favourite-favourite, hats! You can never have too many hats! The monochrome look for winter ain’t going anywhere anytime soon and just look at how many pieces you can mix and match to create a textured, winter monochrome ensemble. Black and white is hot for the guys as well. Create your sport-luxe styles with baseball jackets, a tie and don’t forget the cap for that extra cool factor! Also for the guys… rock those layers with lightweight knits, button up shirts and matchy-matchy scarves. Winter would not be complete without a few wild animal prints… Dress up bold print dresses with luxe faux fur jackets and if you’re not into the whole…

Skirts in Full Swing

Skirts in Full Swing

I’m trying to step out of my style comfort zone. For a girl who wears jeans-jeans-and-more-jeans, it’s a hard thing to do. Trust me! Lately, full swing midi skirts have really caught my eye. They look so glam, effortless and stylish. So, when I spotted this beaut at Forever New, hesitant at first, I tried it on and fell in love with it! Everything about it is perfecto! The cut is very flattering on my frame. The high waist doesn’t make me look short and frumpy (which happens to me with midi skirts) and I love that it’s not solid black. The horizontal “burnout” stripes give it a nice vintage feel, and keep it looking stylish! Here’s a few virtual looks I’ve put together on how I’d style this fabulous skirt… Ladylike Lace Crop Top: Forever New. Snakeskin Laceup Heels: ZARA. My favourite way to style a full midi skirt like this one, would be with lace up heels! I love the effect the laces give to this skirt and transform it from 50’s style to modern glam. Then, to keep it ladylike, I’d pair it with a pretty lace crop top, tucked in to reveal the beautiful waistband of the skirt. Monochrome Plain White…

TREND ALERT: The Biker Jacket

TREND ALERT: The Biker Jacket

The biker jacket, whether you opt for genuine leather or pleather (faux leather), can help you to create a multitude of stylish looks this winter. It’s also a great staple item for your autumn-into-winter wardrobe, that can be worn with just about anything! Give your look the EDGE by combining a chic biker jacket with trendy pieces such as textured leggings and ankle booties, or work the biker jacket into SWEET outfit as your inspiration. One thing I really love is the edginess and toughness of leather or pleather jacket worn with something girly, like florals. That combo goes really well together. Try it out! Fab or Drab: Would you wear Jail Stripes? [Poll]

Fab or Drab: Would you wear Jail Stripes? [Poll]

It’s been a while since we’ve had a poll here on StyleScoop, and I thought today’s scoop was perfect for our first poll of 2013! Jail Stripes! What do you think of solid-striped black and white print on clothing? I’m kinda feeling the skirt from Mr Price, but not so sure about the jailhouse jeans from Cotton On, they look a little bit too ‘convict’ for my liking. When we spotted them at the new Cotton On Store at The Pav, I was like “hmmm, I don’t think so”, while my sister in law said she’d definitely wear them. I’d love to know what you think and dont’ forget to take our quick poll too… [poll id=”26″]

Shop of the Week Kangol Bikini 2 Pack

Shop of the Week Kangol Bikini 2 Pack

Last year, I bought the most awesome bikini set from Kangol. The set included a plain, bright blue bikini top and bottom as well as a second matching top and bottom in black. I had hoped that they would bring out something similar this year and they have! This gorgeous royal purple bikini that comes with a matching striped set too. What I love most about these bikinis, is that they fit really well and feel comfortable. Plus in both sets (this years and last years set) you could mix and match the tops and bottoms to have not two, but four bikini style options. This is a great buy if you’re on the hunt for a bikini this summer! They are sold in two-packs (tops and bottoms separately) and are reasonably priced. The two bikini tops cost R259.95 (for the set) and R219 .95 for the 2 bottoms, also sold as a set. The other great thing about buying tops and bottoms separately is that you can get different sizes if you’re smaller on top and bigger at the bottom, or visa versa (lucky you!). Have you started hunting for your perfect bikini yet?
