Vacation Summer Must Haves

Vacation Summer Must Haves

I have vacation on the brain! I just want to pack my bags and go on holiday, catch a tan and enjoy cocktails in the sun! So for today’s post, I wanted to show you guys some of my favourite Summer Vacation pieces… My favourite find is this pair of Crochet shorts from EXPRESS which is available at Edgars Rosebank. I went looking for them after I posted about them here and they are perfectoh! I’ve been on the hunt for shorts just like these for ages and after trying them on, I’ve hit the jackpot! I love the fit, the fabric, the cut and that they are high waisted without being super short! I was worried that because they are crochet they would add bulk (and who wants that!), but none of that. Just pretty, girly shorts! From River Island, I got this cute little summer cover-up/ jacket type thing! I went in looking for a kimono, but  fell in love with the print and style of this piece. I like that it’s super simple and can be worn day or night and could probably work as a beach coverup too? You guys know I am obsessed with Lucky Brand, especially their jeans and their…

What Katie did next

What Katie did next

All anyone can talk about right now is the Duchess of Cambridge’s Canada wardrobe. She can’t put a foot wrong. Her dress choices are garnering far more attention than that of the actual tour itself and why she and her husband are even there in the first place. I guess no one is as interested in the state of political relations as they are in what Kate wore next… Every outfit she is snapped in is being sold out within minutes. This cream “Vanessa” dress by UK label Joseph sold out online within eight minutes of Kate appearing at Quebec’s Fort-de-Levis. She’s always proper, always together and always dressed immaculately for every occasion. Which is a relief, because it will be horrid to see what the press does to her when she finally does put an always-appropriately-heeled foot wrong. Which she inevitably will do at some point, or will she? If she’s anything like her late mother-in-law then perhaps she won’t… We love Kate. While we find her style is starting to veer dangerously close to ‘perfect’, we appreciate her situation and applaud her for so far managing to remain above the critics and maintaining the appropriate decorum for a…

The Fearless Fashionista’s Fragrance Display

The Fearless Fashionista’s Closet Room Make over Part 3 Or

So here is part 3 and the last post on my closet room make over. – Jasna This is the other side of my the room where I have situated my desk and my clothing rail. I painted the desk white  and added a few personal touches to it. I love my green mouse pad and my pink mouse. I decided to move the clothing rail away from the window and put it behind the door. I hung some of my bags on the door along with my DFC cap.   I put my tripod next to the window so that I can take pics when my photographer is not around and hung more bags on the mirror stand. I put some of my shoes on top or along side my fashion books to add a quirky touch.     Some of my bags and shoes on the white shelves. There are 1 or 2 final items I must still find and then my closet room/studio/office room will be complete.

Messy bed, messy head!

Messy bed, messy head!

New Years Day, Ramadaan and Spring. These are just some of the events that mark the start of a new beginning. Sometimes work and life get’s the better of us and we find ourselves in need of a change mid-year. This is good, in fact I encourage it.

Your spring/summer 2009 trends shopping list

Your spring/summer 2009 trends shopping list

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz, I wonder where the end of the recession is? As spring unfolds in South Africa, I’m sure you are all eager to peel away the depressing layers of the financial recession, in the same way that you peel away the layers of jersey as you move into summer. However, although many have predicted that the recession will end, no-one has yet been willing to put their head on the chopping block and declare these frugal times at an end… and so there’s still a bit of belt-tightening in order. Which is good, ‘cos the “waisted” look is so hot right now! So, it’s spring, and a new season means only one thing… shopping! The SA fashion weeks are over and I’m sure you’re super-inspired to bulk up your closet with the hottest looks off the catwalk. A whole new wardrobe of fabulous colours, patterns and looks to keep our hearts going skippity skip… all purchased on a strict budget of course. Don’t forget all those frugal fashion rules we’ve learned gals! Most importantly, don’t let your wardrobe get out of balance… although is very tempting to go crazy and purchase a range of…

Wardrobe basics

Wardrobe basics

For the best investment items in your wardrobe, you have to start somewhere.  Here’s a little guide I put together to help you get the basics right – the first time round. Every wardrobe needs: A classic white collar shirt It is chic and simple, not to mention practical and classic. This never goes out of fashion and can be dressed up or down. (Buy 2 as white never stays white).  Pair it with jeans – think Jackie O or a gown like Sharon Stone, who paired with a dragon fly pin and a lavender Vera Wang skirt on the red carpet. Taking about jeans As mentioned in one of my previous columns, jeans are an absolute must for your wardrobe. They are practical, sexy, rebellious and a true investment. A pencil skirt This little number made a huge comeback and is very trendy and so stylish.  And it’s  not just for the corporate environment anymore.  A slight A-line will work just as well, make sure your hemline ends at the most flattering length. Don’t forget your heels! A classic Trench coat This can be worn over anything and in almost any weather and will completely style up an outfit.…

Out with the old, in with the new

Out with the old, in with the new

Did someone say NEW wardrobe…………..Yay! By throwing out the items you no longer use (excess baggage), you’ll have more cupboard space for new clothes. Unfortunately, we’re not all blessed with Carey Bradshaw’s dream walk in cupboard. Organising and storing your items in the correct way helps your clothes, shoes and accessories last and look better for longer. Organizers can double your wardrobe space. Invest in pull out shelves with dividers, plastic or wooden hangers, square wooden baskets with shelves and shoe boxes…. This will help you organise your wardrobe, making it easier to find items. In the meantime, here are some save and store wardrobe tips:
