Hi There

What to Wear to The Polo

What to Wear to The Polo

It’s that time of year again, when SA’s fashion forward crowd come together to celebrate fashion, style and of course, the horses. So what do you wear to the Polo? Cute prom dress – check, wide brim hat – check,  stylish accessories – check. And as much as we love our sky high heels, ladies, it’s best to don your wedges to the Polo to ensure that you stay stylish all day, because, lets  face it, sinking into the grass whilst sipping on champers and having your picture taken with Ryk Neethling is so not a good look! If you need a little style motivation, check out these three looks we created that we think would make perfect Polo outfits… PRETTY LADY: Nude accessories give this coral prom dress an elegant finish, while the ladylike stud earrings and delicate flower necklace add that extra feminine touch. GET THE LOOK: Wide brim straw hat from Accessorize, cascading flower necklace from Accessorize, pretty prom dress from Forever New, nude wedges by Raphaella Booz for Lilikoi Design, nude clutch from Bloss&Co, studded earrings from Accessorize.  PINK BLUSH: We love this super cute, versatile nude dress with its low back and tie detail. A dress like this…

Your Winter to Spring Wardrobe Sorted

Your Winter to Spring Wardrobe Sorted

I’m so over winter and while it’s still pretty chilly outside, I don’t want to spend any more money on boots and winter fashion! In a few weeks we’ll be welcoming spring and I’d rather stock up on cheerful spring outfits instead. So, I popped into Woolies to see what’s in store. I’m looking for fashionable items that I can wear today, but that will carry me into the next season, so I don’t have to spend more money come springtime. Well, I was pleasantly surprised at all the items Woolies has on offer right now… Pretty button up blouses, lightweight fashionable scarves, trendy trousers and cute cardigans, all perfect for your Winter into Spring Wardrobe The Viscose Shirt  Viscose is one of my favourite fabrics! It’s light, comfy, easy to wear and because it falls beautifully on the body, it looks like it’s been made just for you! I absolutely love this slightly sheer viscose shirt (R299) from Woolworths, available in purple or teal. It’s got a longer length back, which means you can wear it with leggings – great for winter. To make it shorter, just tie a knot in the front or tuck it into your jeans – remember the fabric is…

TREND REPORT: Riding Style

TREND REPORT: Riding Style

Next month, my hometown of Durban plays host to The Vodacom Durban July; one of Durban’s and SA Fashion’s hottest events! With all the hype leading to raceday, combined with a new found love for my riding boots (which I finally found after years of searching), this month’s Trend Report is all about being a stylish Equestrian. Now, as much as I love this style of dressing, I wouldn’t recommend wearing a riding-style outfit to The July – even though it would make more sense to trot around the grass laden race track in comfy flats and a jacket, instead of your sheer, backless couture designer gown and sky high heels – in winter! As for any other day, I definitely think this look rocks, even if you have no actual connection on the Mink and Manure belt. Here’s how to wear the trend… Riding Style Boots A true riding-style outfit requires a pair of fabulous flat riding boots! Riding boots are an investment and will almost always look stylish and on-trend, so it’s worth it to spend a little extra for a great quality pair that will last you a lifetime! Daniella Michelle brown boots with buckle detail – R1599 from Zoom Footwear Leather “Shobola”…

Woolies Scoop! Technicolour Jeans

Woolies Scoop! Technicolour Jeans

Coloured jeans are a huge trend for our upcoming summer, and we’re really glad these styles are back in fashion. The latest trend in coloured jeans is bright, technicolour skinny jeans in bright blues and fire-engine reds. Bright Blues Kim Kardashian and Hillary Duff are both fans of bright blue jeans, and as you can see from their ensembles, bright blue jeans work both for a casual cool effect a la Hillary or dressed up with a rocker edge like Kim. Bright blue jeans are best paired with simple white tees and stunner, stand out shoes! Racy Reds For a more stand out take on the technicolor jeans trend, look to stylista’s Hayden Panettiere, Khloe Kardashian and Mischa Barton for a little style inspiration. I love Hayden’s slick black and red ensemble and Kourtney pulls this trend off with leopard print details and a sexy denim shirt. Mischa’s look is more tomboy and while I love the combination, I’m not too sure about those oversized goggle glasses. Mischa, what were you thinking? Trying to stand out? Get the look Always on trend, go grab yourself a pair from the newly re-launched RE: jeanswear collection at Woolworths. These jeans have a really great…

TREND REPORT: Stylish Denim Accessorizing

TREND REPORT: Stylish Denim Accessorizing

Denim is just one of those items that will never go out of fashion. Every season it gets re-invented; whether it’s the wash, the style or the cut. This season, it’s all about the lightweight denim shirt – a staple item no woman should be without. In today’s Trend Report, we show you how to accessorize your denim shirt and turn it into a style statement with inspiration from D&G. For their Spring/ Summer 2010 ready to wear collection (which happens to be our 2011 summer here in sunny SA), D&G featured denim as their key piece. Styling it up with shiny, long and loose hair, leopard print accents, tan boots and aviator sunnies. This look is simple and achievable, and if you haven’t already got a denim shirt hanging in your cupboard, go out and get one! Or, steal one from your man. The over sized boyfriend shirt cinched in with a tan belt and rolled up sleeves, makes a huge style statement. Get the look! [post-slideshow] I’ve been obsessed with this look since I saw the first images from the D&G show. Check out how I matched up this look with local items.
