Be Bold! Lancome Artliner 24H

Be Bold! Lancome Artliner 24H

I love this time of year, such exciting makeup launches heading our way! One of these is Lancome Artliner 24H – a bold, intense, not to mention vibrant new liquid liner! Seriously shocking lids are all the rage on the runway and you can get these looks like a pro with the help of this little guy! Lancome Artliner 24H launches locally this month, and will be available in three of the seasons hottest shades; Turquoise, Sapphire and Jade. They offer vibrant colour with a metallic sparkle that catches the light beautifully. I got to sample the Turquoise one, such a hot colour, but I’m really digging the Sapphire! The colour payoff is pretty impressive and the soft “flocked” applicator makes it easy to define your lids, whether you’re trying to create thick, solid lines or super thin slicks of colour. Made in Germany, this liquid liner wears really well! It’s smudge and water proof, so a great summer liner indeed! SHOP! Get your’s right now! South Africa: Only available at Lancome counters International:  Turquoise, Sapphire, Jade [signature]

Inglot Coffee Collection

Inglot Coffee Collection

INGLOT have just launched their exciting Coffee Collection. Inspired by the decadence of coffee, this collection is purrrrfect for winter! Here’s the selection I got to play with.. Freedom Eye Shadow in shade 155 is a gorgeous, creamy golden colour that adds amazing depth to your lids. AMC Eyeliner Gel in 93 which has a rich, metallic effect. Looks great as an eye liner on plain lids or layered over the golden eyeshadow. You can also use this gel liner as an intense, metallic eyeshadow – perfect for a night out. Totally yummy, Inglot Nail Enamel in 365. This is a gorgeous beige that looks like latte! Love it, so Beckham indeed! What do you think of this collection? Yummy right?

Beauty Bytes – Fab New Makeup Goodies

Beauty Bytes – Fab New Makeup Goodies

Here’s a quick beauty byte on some of the amazing new makeup goodies I’ve been playing with recently. Tried, Tested and LOVED (as always)! Woolworths Makeup Wink, Wink, Blush, Blush! Woolies have launched an exciting new range of makeup that’s bang on trend and budget friendly! Some of the goodies I got to try: WINK Eyeshadow trio (R49.95) and BLUSH lip & cheek tint (R49.95). The eyeshadow I got to play with, Khol Maybe is absolutely stunning. I’m in love with the burgundy shade on the right and the khaki green on the left is also gorgeous. A great combo for winter! These WINK shadows are highly pigmented and great for adding metallic colour to your lids. In general I don’t like using the applicators that come with compacts, and prefer to use my MAC 217 blending brush to create a blended shade and my MAC 239 brush to pack on the colour.  You can even amp up the intensity of these shadows by dipping your 239 brush in a drop of water before packing on the colour. This will make your eyes pop! The BLUSH lip and cheek tint is a lovely cream blush that diffuses effortlessly on the cheeks and adds a perfect pop of colour to your lips.…

Shop of the Week Woolies Gel EyeLiner Pencils

Shop of the Week Woolies Gel EyeLiner Pencils

I heard about these pencils from one of the girls in my makeup class and am now totally hooked! I used to swear by MAC Graphblack retractable eyeliner because it was a solid, solid black. But, after mine broke without even being half used, I did’nt want to spend money on buying the same one again. I much prefer a pencil that you can sharpen as apposed to a retractable pencil, but hadn’t found any that offered such an intense black. I was so glad to hear about Woolworths’ Gel EyeLiner pencil and even more stoked to discover that it comes in different shades. I bought myself a black one and a golden one called blonde. The black is my absolute fave! It goes on really black and doesn’t smudge all day long.  The pencil tip is super soft, so you only need to press very gently to get maximum lines!  I’ve been using it just about every day, and it’s definitely one of those products that will go into my professional makeup kit (one of these days). The best part… each one costs R75.00, so it makes my Shop of the Week today.

Glam Rock beauty

Glam Rock beauty

Glam rock is a fun, sexy way to wear your makeup. Glam up the eyes and leave the lips nude for the day and then transform into a sexy siren by adding a pop of bright colour to your lips.  Lady Gaga has nailed glam-rock to perfection, with nude lips and diva eyes, but Christina Aguilera rocks it with clean, porcelin skin, dramatic eyes and intense lips. It’s easy to create the glam rock look when you have the right products.  I’ve been playing with a few brands this past week, testing them out, trying on new looks and really having fun with the whole glam-rock look, to bring you this week’s beauty feature… Rimmel London Glam Eyes Professional Liquid Liner in Aqua Glow is great for applying precision liner to your lids and the colour is simply stunning.  I really like doing the whole “carbon copy” eye with a black gel liner (see 7) and then adding a stoke of colour with this product to the outer corners.  The easy to use applicator makes it simple to use.  I also like applying just a bit of this color to the ends of my lashes lashes after applying mascara and…

Star Beauty – Be bold

Star Beauty – Be bold

“There is the rule book that says, if you are creating drama with the eyes, down-play the lips and vice versa so the two don’t compete for attention” says Jessica Lawther, Communications Manager at Estee Lauder. Winter has always been a season to smoulder, and you can play by the rules, by focusing on defining either the eyes or the lips.  Or you can break the rules and combine smokey eyes with sexy, provocative lips.  There is sexy and there is trashy when it comes to this look, but if you follow Penelope Cruz’ lead, you’ll break the rules with style and seduction. Personally, I like to play by the rules too, I don’t know if its just a safe zone or if I prefer to have one focal point, but I must admit, solid coloured lips with sexy, defined eyes really do look amazing together. So, here are some products I got to play with this week, and some I have yet to try but am just as intrigued.  These products will help you nail the winter smoulder look whether you’re playing it safe or living on the wild side. Eyes Instead of using eyeshadow for smokey eyes, check…

Fab Find Friday – Rimmel Eye Definers

Fab Find Friday – Rimmel Eye Definers

Imagine my excitement when these super shades of Rimmel’s new Exaggerate Automatic Eye Definers arrived at my desk.  I was, as you can imagine, like a  kid in a candy store.  Immediately, I started testing all four colours out on my hand and couldn’t pick a favourite.  If I was buying these from the store,  I’d probably end up with every shade, and at only R49.95 a pencil, you can afford to splurge and get yourself all four colours. Use them on their own or combine the shades – they work really well together.  You can even use them as a stay-on shadow, by smudging the colour and blending it into your lids.  Oh, did I mention every pencil comes with a smudge applicator on the back (5)? So, you don’t need to mess your freshly manicured paws. The price, the colour and the fact that these go on really easily and stay on too, earn them my Fab Find Friday for this week. 1) My favourite shade is Deep Ocean.  Its a gorgeous blue that’s thick and solid – perfect for an evening out. 2) Purple Shock is a fabulous colour, although I needed a few applications to get…
