Rain Africa – Handmade Bath & Body Products from SA!

I am hooked on Rain Africa products! They recently opened up a store at Gateway Shopping Centre, and every time I go there, I find myself spending hours ogling and indulging. Besides offering a unique and irresistible selection of bath, body, skin, hair and fragrance goodies, all Rain products are hand made right here in South Africa, using natural ingredients that have been sourced in Africa! Their products are available online (the perfect gift for the holidays!?), but if you get a chance to pop into one of their branded local stores or international stores, you absolutely have to allow yourself and your senses, the pleasure of experiencing this amazing brand first hand. While the online store is a great place to stock up on your faves, a visit to Rain Africa will allow you to experience the range like no other! Pour –  Bring in your own containers and fill them up from the large tubes of liquid soap or foam bath Mix – Customize your own body scrub by choosing from various bases, oils, actives and scents Slice – Cut a slice of your own soap from the large loaves on display Scoop – Scoop out your own bath salt, soak, fizz balls, steam…

Topshop Opens at Gateway Durban

Topshop Opens at Gateway Durban

We’re so excited to finally welcome one of London’s trend setting clothing brands, Topshop and Topman to South Africa! They’ve recently opened a store in Sandton and now, Durban’s Gateway Theater of Shopping plays home to the second TOPSHOP store in South Africa. Always first with the trends and shopping scoop, StyleScoop was there to bring you an inside look at this amazing new chain. It opened officially on Saturday, 14th December at 10am, but the media got to enjoy a sneak peek one hour before the official launch, complete with yummy muffins, coffee and early morning treats from another Gateway hotspot, Tasha’s! Take a look a some stylish pieces we scooped…   As you can see, lots and lots of trendy studs and leopard prints! I actually need to make a second trip to TopShop to see what else there is on offer. I was most impressed with the selection and found myself running around from section to section snapping up all the exciting pieces. The store itself is surprisingly quite large and also hosts TOPMAN, which (guys) I’m afraid, I didn’t get a chance to check out! When the store was still being renovated, judging by the entrance…

GUESS Denim Drive

GUESS Denim Drive

Last weekend Gateway was cooking! DJ Euphonik was there, heating up the GUESS store, spinning the decks as part of GUESS Denim Drive campaign. Such a fabulous campaign that runs until the 15th December, with loads of exciting competitions and in store events. I was at the Lady GAGA concert in Jozi (boo), but from what I am told, the GUESS Gateway event was a truly fun filled day! Euphonik drew massive crowds with his fresh and funky beats, giving shoppers a chance to check out the gorgeous GUESS merchandise on offer and of course, giving away GUESS shopping vouchers. Even though I couldn’t be there in the flesh, my “eyes” were there to bring you some behind the scenes pics of the event, as well as scoop up the latest, hottest, most amazing trends on offer at GUESS right now. PS! You still have one more chance to catch @poppyismyname and @euphonik mix it up live at GUESS and win a R1000 voucher on the day and a chance to shop with either of the DJ’s! This Saturday, 15 December Euphonik will be at GUESS Menlyn, while Poppy will be doing her thing at GUESS Fourways! Pop in between 12-1pm to check them out! And,…

Mango Opens in Durban, TONIGHT!

Mango Opens in Durban, TONIGHT!

I’m so excited that South Africa, and more specifically, my hometown of Durban, is welcoming more and more high fashion brands! MANGO, the Spanish-born brand who have collaborated with external designers and celebs such as Milla Jovovich, Elisabeth Hurley, as well as Penélope and Mónica Cruz, have been in South Africa for quite some time already. Cape Town and Jo’burg have surely enjoyed having this brand, and now the time has finally come for Durban! From today, Durbanites can also enjoy and indulge in a little bit of MANGO magic, with the opening of their very first Durban store at Gateway Theatre of Shopping! The store officially opens tonight (15 November 2012) at 6pm! So, if you’re in the area, pop in and check it out! MANGO will be welcoming the media to this event, as well as opening it up to the public. Loads of fun is planned, with an exclusive live set by Durban’s DJ Roxxi. The store is located downstairs, across from Woolies and if you do make it to the event and you’re part of the Twitterati , make sure to include the hashtag, #MangoSA in your tweets, to let everyone know that you were one of the very first…

GUESS Capsule Collection

GUESS Capsule Collection

At the Guess 30th Birthday breakfast, we were introduced to some of gorgeous items in the Guess Capsule collection, which is a limited edition collection of pieces that capture the brand’s industry changing creations. Drawing inspiration from iconic pieces that are stored in the GUESS archives, the Guess Capsule Collection combines original styling and vintage washes with modern influences. It follows the unique stone and acid washed, hand-treated denim designs which have always been a major part of the GUESS roots. Woven labels, buttons and rivets embrace the same aesthetic as original pieces which mirror the assortment of American and Italian fabrics used in the collections from the 1980s. The Capsule Collection features retro button front, gingham tops with tie-waists, colourful vintage tees with the original GUESS logo, a long-sleeve leopard print chiffon top and a feminine lace bustier, all initially worn by iconic GUESS models which Claudia Schiffer made famous in her first GUESS campaign. The exclusive capsule collection is already out and available at GUESS Sandton City, Menlyn, Gateway and V&A Waterfront. Get it before it’s gone!

GUESS – 30 Sexy Years and Event Photos Durban

Last week I attended GUESS‘ 30th Birthday Breakfast at their Gateway Store, where we got to celebrate with Mimosa’s and GUESS red-velvet cupcakes. Not only is GUESS the big three-oh, but they are celebrating in style with an ad campaign that features one of the original “GUESS girls”, Claudia Schiffer – who still looks smoking hot – together with the launch of a limited edition capsule collection. The GUESS Capsule Collection is beautiful and captures the brand’s industry changing creations over the past 30 years! Here are some images from the event together with some of the items in the GUESS Capsule Collection… Enjoy

ZARA Durban Launch & A Sneak At Winter

ZARA Durban Launch & A Sneak At Winter

Durban fashionista’s can do a hop, a skip and a jumpity jump! ZARA is finally open at Gateway – the second ZARA to open in South Africa! Sorry Cape Town! Trust me, we need it more than you do, although it’s your turn next! Last night, I was lucky enough to score an invite to the launch and be one of the first Durbanites to check out the store. The store opened officially this morning, so I’m sure there are plenty happy Durban shoppers trotting around Gateway with their ZARA bags like it’s the hot new accessory of the season. Well it is! The store is filled to the brim with gorgeous everything! The layout, ahh-mazing and the clothes, well we all know ZARA rocks! The space is welcoming and although there is plenty of stock to choose from, it’s not cluttered and messy! Everything is visible and I love how they’ve created mini looks, by hanging a gorgeous jacket to wear with the dress on display! I must admit, I had to walk around the store like five times before I could decide what I wanted – seeing as I wanted it all! It was hard work I tell…

Zara Durban – We Have a Date

Zara Durban – We Have a Date

I’ve been waiting for this email ever since they announced Zara was opening in South Africa. While the Johannesburg store is already open at Sandton City, Zara’s second South African store is set to open in my hometown of Durban! And I’ve got the date!!! Finally! No more waiting 🙂 The Durban ZARA will open at Gateway Shopping Centre on the 2nd March 2012! Just a few weeks before my birthday – YAY! I’ve seen the outside of the Zara store at Gateway – it’s on the same level as my other fave stores; Aldo, Sunglass Hut, Just Japs and Via Uno, so I know Im going to have fun on my shopping trips. The Gateway store will occupy more than 1 700 square meters of retail space on a single floor and filled with fabulous ZARA apparel for women, men and kids. The interior of the store willl feature display areas and furnishings designed to convey an image of elegance and simplicity – a perfect setting to let ZARA’s fashionable clothes take centre stage!  The local ZARA stores offer clothing selections that are tailored to our country’s climate conditions – featuring the latest in trends, garments and fabrics that…

The Weekend Wrap

The Weekend Wrap

This weekend was very chilled, and spent mostly indoors. With the doom and gloom weather of Durban, there wasn’t much to do. On Saturday, I (of course) watched the big Currie Cup game, where sadly my Sharkies lost to the Gauteng Lions. Yes I was upset, but in a way I’m glad the Lions won as they were the better team on the day. To show my support, I painted my nails in a Sharks design using Chanel Black Satin Nail Polish and my awesome Inglot nail art pen in number 29. The design was very striking and the black and white looks so good together. Who said you can’t support your team in style? There is really only one way to watch a rugby game (in my opinion at least) and that’s with a huge bowl of popcorn, good ‘ol South African biltong and Coke Zero. I know that most people do the whole beer and biltong thing, but I just haven’t acquired the taste for beer, and quite honestly, I’d rather spend the calories on chocolate. Did you know that 1 gram of alcohol contains 7 calories per gram? Fat on the other hand contains 9 calories per…
