The Big Tease – All the Products and Tools you Need for Big,Va-Va-Voom Hair

Your mama always said, don’t be a tease! Well, we say go a head and be one! A hair tease that is! Teasing no longer scares us. Those eighties hairstyles may have been teased to death, but teasing your hair is a great way to give it volume and more oompf! I’ve recently gotten into teasing my hair and I can tell you that having the right tools to do the the tease makes it so much easier! Not to mention the wrong brushes, and the wrong technique can leave you almost hairless! Quite the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve in the first place isn’t it? Here are four fab brushes (or combs rather) that will help you tease those locks… Comair MARK II Blue Ribbon Five Tail Teaser Comair 3839 Blue Ribbon Large Teeth Teaser ghd Narrow Dressing brush (R196) ghd Tail Comb (R105) The Comair MARK II Blue Ribbon Five Tail Tease comb with a metal pik is a great comb to use for achieving seriously teased hair with ease. The teeth each have five little tails at the ends that grip your hair tightly, allowing you to tease the hair even if you’re nervous and pulling on your hair too tightly. The brush is also heat resistant…

Seriously Awesome Hair Products We Haven’t Featured Before

Seriously Awesome Hair Products We Haven’t Featured Before

On hectic days like yesterday’s Manic Monday, I often have to get ready super-fast, so that I can squeeze as much work into the morning, before the day runs away from me! Know the feeling? One of the things I often cut short is my hair styling time! I don’t know about you girls, but my hair needs to be washed (and dried with a dryer) every single day. If it’s not, then halfway through the afternoon it starts looking limp and so not fabulous! So, I’m always looking for new products to make my hair stay clean, shiny and full of life, but I’d also like to get a day off from having to wash it every day (even though I do prefer it squeaky clean daily).  Here are some new, exciting and never been featured before hair products that I’m enjoying right now. I have (most) of these sitting in my shower, and use them on different days depending on how my hair looks and feels at the time… To scroll through the selection, click the product thumbnails below or use the black arrow to the right to start the slideshow and read up on all of them…

First look at the new ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition

First look at the new ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition

This August, ghd introduces Pink Orchid, a gorgeous new styler that donates R100 from every styler sold to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). Taking its cue from Valentino, Ballenicaga and Christopher Kane, this limited edition styler set comes beautifully packaged in a trendy clutch bag that will no doubt complete, and add style to any outfit. I got to see the styler in the flesh at my meeting with ghd’s Marketing manager Janlyn and I’ve got to say it, the pictures do not do this styler justice! The clutch, which is to-die-for is finished in a vibrant shade of hot orchid pink with a peek-a-boo black lace overlay. The styler itself is the ghd Gold Classic styler with a twist, instead of having gold ceramic plates, this one is hot orchid pink! So what else do you get inside this fabulous limited edition gift set? The ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition styler set comes complete with: ghd Gold Classic styler with vibrant hot pink styling plates; a protective plate guard to safely cover hot plates when you need to use your styler on the go; Pink heat-resistant styler case which will not only protect your most precious possession…

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Short Hair

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Short Hair

If you’ve got shorter hair but want to add length, you can do it in a flash with Clip in Hair Extensions. To demonstrate this I used my buddy ol’ pal and regular beauty guinea pig for StyleScoop, Louise. Now Louise has very short hair that is also layered, so transforming her short hair into long strands was bound to be difficult. Difficult, but not impossible 🙂 Because Louise’s hair was so short we had to come up with another way to make it longer. So instead of applying the clips and letting it loose as I did with mine, we styled hers a bit, adding a cute flower brooch that helped to tuck in the bits of hair that were sticking out. She pulled it all to one side to keep it looking sleek. On the opposite side Louse plaited her hair, letting the hair fall to one side only. How cute and clever is this? So see, even if your hair is super short, you can make it super long with some hair tricks. Although Louise’s hair colour is quite different to mine, with all the highlighted bits, the colour at the bottom was very similar to the…

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Long Hair

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Long Hair

Although my hair is already pretty long, sometimes I wish it could just be fuller and more glamorous you know! So, when I discovered clip in hair extensions, it was to say the least, love at first clip. I must admit, I was sceptical about these at first, I did’nt think they would hold on my hair as its super straight and very soft, but I am very impressed. I love my clip in hair extensions. Take a look… As you can see my hair is a pretty decent length, but who can so no to more long locks? Check out the transformation from the picture above. The clip in hair extensions have blended beautifully with my own hair – you can’t even tell the difference! I put these in myself (without being able to see the back of my head) and it took me about 7 minutes to get them all in there. My hair is pretty layered at the back, so I do have odd strands sticking out, but when I pull all my hair to the side or keep it all back (with no pieces in front) you can’t even see where my own hair ends. My…

Say hello to the new range from ghd

Yesterday I got to meet the lovely Janlyn from ghd for a quick cup of coffee and to check out the new range of products from ghd. I was already quite a fan of their old Thermodynamics range, and while I’m saddened that it will soon be replaced, it makes it all better to know that the new contenders are even better than before. So far, I’ve only tried out the new Style Curl Hold Spray on my hair, and if this one is anything to go by, then I’m almost sure Ill be a devotee of the new range pretty soon! So what’s new? Well, pretty much everything! The new range has a whole new look; it’s sleek, sexy and very glamorous, it actually looks like a ghd product! The range comprises of 10 products aimed specifically at helping you style your hair. No more Shampoos, Condtioners and Treatments, ghd has invested all their energy into a high performance styling range. It’s ideal for use with the ghd hair straightener, or any other heat tool in fact. Every product in this new range has been re-devloped, and re-formulated to give you the very best. According to Janlyn, everything you loved about the old…
