When Chanel does Holiday Makeup, CHANEL DOES HOLIDAY MAKEUP to the MAX! And the latest, Collection Libre 2018 Maximalisme de CHANEL for the 2018 holiday season is another show stopping collection that will steal your heart!
With every COLLECTION LIBRE Chanel links one of the Mademoiselle, Coco Chanel’s enduring visual signatures and codes into the collection.
For 2018 Lucia Pica adopts Gabrielle Chanel’s beloved lion icon as the star of the collection to capture the grandeur and emotional intensity of the holidays.
You can see the lion etched beautifully into the powders of this collection, making them so exquisite you almost don’t want to ruin the beautiful imprint. But trust me, once you get over the initial destruction of design you’ll fall in love a second time because the product pay off in the powders is just heavenly!
I got to sample some of the products from this collection, and am as always, in love! Even before dipping into the products to try them out, my heart was fluttering just looking at them!

The Face – CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE LE LION DE CHANEL
I had my heart set on the star of the show; The sparkly and oh-so elegant face shimmer, CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE LE LION DE CHANEL (R1090).
This is such a beautiful, soft and just perfect highlighter.
Truth be told, one of my most treasured face illuminating powders is from Chanel.If you’re a fan of the brand you may remember the star of their Spring 2013 Makeup Collection, Poudre Signee De Chanel Illuminating Powder.
To me, that was and is still one of THE BEST face highlighters for subtle sparkle without any chalkiness.
I loved it to bits and as soon as I hit pan, I put it right at the back of my collection – since I knew it could not be replaced. What really got me excited for the CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE LE LION DE CHANEL is that this new limited edition highlighter part of the 2018 Chanel Holiday Collection, is almost identical.
Everything from touch to the feel to how amazing it looks on the skin! The only difference is that it’s slightly more golden (while the 2013 Poudre Signee is more iridescent). LE LION DE CHANEL is gorgeous and a perfect makeup goodie to add a little sparkle to your festivities.
I love that it goes on so incredibly flawless and just adds that bit instant gratification that’s not fake or overpowering. In fact, I get more compliments wearing this as a highlighter than I do with any of my other highlighters I own. And I am all about the glow!
It’s like a sweep of magic! I like to apply it with my fingertips and then blend it out with the face brush included.
The Lips – CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE LA PALETTE CARACTÈRE
If ever there was a lip product to SWOON over, this would be it! I’m obsessed!
For this collection, Chanel decided to forgo the five quad eyeshadow palette and instead give the lips a little extra attention, by coming out with this insanely beautiful lip palette. It features five of Lucia Pica’s favourite lip colours (and textures), all neatly presented in an easy to use (and take around with you) palette.
The LA PALETTE CARACTÈRE (R1180) colour lineup includes; a bold orange, a strong red, a deep berry, a seductive reddish brown and a sultry chocolate brown.
This is the perfect take-on-holiday lip palette so that you have the option to come up with a multitude of lip looks. Included are two double-ended lip brushes so you even have your tools on hand and a decent size mirror.
The Eyes – CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE OMBRE PREMIÈRE POUDRE
Last, but not least, I also got to try out one of the four CRÉATION EXCLUSIVE OMBRE PREMIÈRE POUDRE mono eye shadows (R580).
Mine is in the shade CUIVRE LAMÉ – a luxurious bronzed delight which I absolutely adore! The packaging is gorgeous, and features the same Chanel Lion emblem as on the face powder.
Much like the face powder, it gives your lids an instant sparkle and can be layered for a more intense look.
