Beauty & Brains: The Fit Flop

Beauty & Brains: The Fit Flop

Everyone is back to their hectic schedules, and that usually means the same old excuse of no time to exercise. Going to gym is one thing, but you can’t be fabulous whilst working up a sweat now can you?  Well, that’s one of the excuses us girls say to make us feel better.  After all Carey Bradshaw never exercised in a gym – even though her real life character, definitely does. Never mind that, and fabulously aside, going to gym is not as easy as the hot boddied gym freaks make it look.  So what do you do if you just can’t make it? And no, Oreo aerobics doesn’t count. Well thankfully I was introduced to a fabulous pair of flops that claim to give you a workout while you walk.  So, I decided to test them out and see for myself just what these shoes are all about. Dimi: “As a fitness fanatic and personal trainer, I’m always game to test and try cool fitness gadgets.   And I am really impressed with the quality, comfort and technology of the FitFlop.  Although I must confess, I do sweat it out in the gym (how not fabulous!) I found (and…

The Lash Review – Beads and beyond

The Lash Review – Beads and beyond

This week I’ve upped the Glam factor a bit and tried out lashes that are a bit flashier than the rest.  Long and sexy, the 009 lashes have tiny pearls attached to the end.  Check out my review and stand the chance to win this week’s lashes.  As always, this lash review is brought to you by  Eyelash Central, who stock a full range of fabulous lashes for any occasion.   The Review: Dimi Says: These lashes kind of remind me of the lashes Cindy Nell is wearing in the South African version of Strictly Come Dancing.  The tiny beads on the ends really make your eyes sparkle.  The lashes themselves are long and pretty, getting longer toward the end of the lash line.  The thick black line that sits against your lash line means you don’t even need to apply eyeliner as it’s all built in.  However, I would suggest that you still blend a bit of liner onto your lash line to make the lashes look more authentic. In terms of application, these are so far the easiest to apply See for yourself:

The Lash Review – Purple passion

The Lash Review – Purple passion

This week I “lashed out” a bit and decided to go for a set of colourful, playful, purple lashes to review in the weekly feature.  The feature, by the way is brought to you by Eyelash Central, who stock a full range of fabulous lashes for any occasion.  Anyway, it seems as though I am getting better at applying the lashes – by my 8th week, I’ll probably be a pro! The Review: Dimi Says: I really liked wearing these ones.  The purple is very subtle, but very effective and are not much of an in-yer-face change.  When I asked a friend, who had seen me with the first pair of black lashes we reviewed, she said that the purple ones looked more natural.  So Either my application skills are getting better, or it could be the finer lashes (and less volume than the black ones), that made these appear to be more natural looking. See for yourself: Oh, another tip when using the glue – instead of dropping it onto the lash, rather slide the lash across the glue wand.  The glue that comes with these lashes has a wand applicator, which makes it really easy!
