What an amazing hand and nail treatment! But, that’s pretty much what you’d expect from Filorga! Every single product that I’ve used from Filorga, I’ve been really impressed with, and Hand Filler is no different. It comes from the same concept as their amazing Time Filler and Time Filler Eyes, but of course, this anti-ageing filler is targeted to your hands. Did you know that the skin on your hands is just as delicate as that of your neck and chest? Here’s a quick beauty byte on some of the amazing new makeup goodies I’ve been playing with recently. Tried, Tested and LOVED (as always)! Woolworths Makeup Wink, Wink, Blush, Blush! Woolies have launched an exciting new range of makeup that’s bang on trend and budget friendly! Some of the goodies I got to try: WINK Eyeshadow trio (R49.95) and BLUSH lip & cheek tint (R49.95). The eyeshadow I got to play with, Khol Maybe is absolutely stunning. I’m in love with the burgundy shade on the right and the khaki green on the left is also gorgeous. A great combo for winter! These WINK shadows are highly pigmented and great for adding metallic colour to your lids. In general I don’t like using the applicators that come with compacts, and prefer to use my MAC 217 blending brush to create a blended shade and my MAC 239 brush to pack on the colour.  You can even amp up the intensity of these shadows by dipping your 239 brush in a drop of water before packing on the colour. This will make your eyes pop! The BLUSH lip and cheek tint is a lovely cream blush that diffuses effortlessly on the cheeks and adds a perfect pop of colour to your lips.…

I’ve been Minxed

If you love painting your nails as much as I do, surely by now you’ve heard of @MinxNailsSA. If you haven’t then you’re really in for a treat! Minx is a professionally applied nail wrap that gives your natural (or artificial) nails a completely new look. You can dazzle and daze with a wide variety of prints, or go for the super popular metallic finishes. It lets you take fashion right to your very tips, fingertips that is! They are great for fingers and toes, although if you want it to last longer, I’d recommend having it done on your toes. The lovely Kim from the official Minx Nails SA distributor was in Durban recently and she minxed my toes. My only issue was which print to choose? There are literally hundreds. New on my Desk – Maybelline Superstay Lip Color

Maybelline has launched a brand new range of amazing colour lip colour. Nine fabulous shades to suit any mood with long lasting staying power. It’s called Super Stay 24 Colour and is a a double sided lipstick that wont crumble, crack, fade or transfer. Although the name suggests “24 Hours”, on me it didn’t last that long. Then again, I drink about 4 cups of coffee a day so I didn’t expect it to. It did however last longer than most lipsticks I’ve used and so, it still gets big praise in my book. The formula contains SuperStay Micro-Flex that stretches the limits of lip colour and gives it a longer than usual staying effect. I do love all the fabulous colours … Choose from Sparkling Fuchsia, Absolute Plum, Grape Juice, Cosmic Coral, Red Passion, Burgundy, Soft Taupe, Dark Amber and Timeless Brown. These colours are available from June 2011 and the suggested retail price for one is R129.95 and totally worth it.

Beauty Review – Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer & Foundation Stick

You might remember a while ago I did a feature post on Eduardo Ferreira, Bobbi Brown’s right hand man who recently visited South Africa and I got to watch him work some of his magic. One of the things that impressed me was how he used foundation. Now, you may know that Bobbi Brown is a huge believer in natural looking makeup. She focuses on enhancing natural beauty and working with what you’ve got, instead of trying to turn you into something you’re not. And so, when Eduardo showed me his little “trick” on applying natural looking foundation I was keen to try it out for myself. Instead of plastering the face with heavy foundation, instead he uses a tinted moisturizer such as Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Tinted Moisturizer – which gives the skin an even tone. While it moisturizers and feels great, this tinted moisturizer also makes the skin glow with health. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now as my day wear “foundation” and love how it makes my skin look almost perfect, but still shows my skin underneath – sort of like a see through layer or veil.
