Hi There

Foundation Friday – Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder

Foundation Friday – Estee Lauder Double Wear Powder

Just when I thought nothing would beat last weeks’ foundation – (Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation) their Double Wear Powder has stolen my heart. I’ve never been a “powder” girl. I guess, I’ve had too many bad experiences with plastered, flakey powder foundation, that I avoid powders altogether. I’ve tried various brands and various “kinds” and always ended up with the same, fake look. That was until, I got to try out Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Powder Foundation.

Foundation Friday – Estee Lauder Double Wear

Foundation Friday – Estee Lauder Double Wear

Today we kick off our first Foundation Friday, in association with Estee Lauder and I thought I’d start with Estee Lauder Double Wear. Before I got the opportunity to try this fabulous foundation, I had heard many great things about it’s staying power, and so, like many of you out there, I was curious to see if it really is all that great.

Best Beauty Buys – Foundations and face makeup

Best Beauty Buys – Foundations and face makeup

In this week’s Best Beauty Buys feature, I introduce you to my favourite foundations, concealers, bronzers and blushers. Foundation is the most important part of your makeup, because cakey, plastered skin, no matter how gorgeous your eyes and lips, will stick out like a sore thumb.

Star Beauty: Dewy Skin

Star Beauty: Dewy Skin

Dewy skin is all about gorgeous, glowing skin that is flawless and natural. It is great for daytime and is perfect for a fresh, fuss free look. You can achieve the Dewy look by combining good skin care (your number one beauty secret) with a handful of useful products.  Remember, when going for the dewy look to keep you makeup minimal – use foundation or tinted moisturiser to even out your skin tone, add a bit of blush, a natural gloss and a slick of brown (or black mascara) to finish it off. Here are some of my fresh-faced favourites: 1. The new range of Colour Riche celeb-signature lipsticks from Loreal Paris are Divine.  Look out for Eva Longoria’s Star Secret colour in Caramel.  It enhances your natural colour, looks beautiful and has the most delicious smell. 2. For natural lip colour that is simple yet effective, check out Giffarine Glamorous Lip Colour in LG08. 3.  For a perfect, dewy look, use foundation that blends in with you natural skin tone.  Check out Revlon Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup.  It starts out white and blends to your skin’s own colour – Genius! 4.  Minimise pores and get porcelain skin with…

Fab Find Friday: MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

Fab Find Friday: MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation

If you’re looking for a foundation that will stay put come rain or shine, then you will love the foundation that’s part of the new range from M.A.C called Well-Defined.  I got to try out the foundation and am most impressed. It blends really well and stays on for a long time, keeping my skin looking even and polished.  To apply, I use my foundation brush (not the one from this range, but my normal MAC one),  and the product goes on so perfectly with only a few strokes.  It covers really well and you definitely don’t get that “cake-face” affect.  In fact you don’t even feel like you are wearing any make up all, which is perfect! You should be able to find this range at your M.A.C counter now as it was launched in February/ March, but hurry because the stock is limited. Full range details: Studio Sculpt Foundation which is packed with SPF 15 and comes in 23 different shades, so you’ll be sure to find your perfect match.  Retailing at R230.00 Studio Sculpt Concealer to hide any imperfections.  Retailing at R155.00 Prep + Prime Skin to lock your make up in place.  Retailing at R205.00 The…

Star Beauty – Avoid the make up meltdown

Star Beauty – Avoid the make up meltdown

There’s nothing worse than a makeup meltdown.  When it happens at a club, its not too bad, because you can dash to the little girls room and fix it up, plus everyone around you is too busy having a good time to notice.  But, when it happens during the day, and with this heat it’s very possible, it can be very embarrassing.  Besides a girl always looks flawless, so a makeup meltdown is not an option. Primers, pre-makeup products and stay-on solutions have been around for some time, but are really earning their stars now.  The cleanse-tone-moisturise ritual has been replaced with cleanse-tone-moisturise-prime before foundation and makeup application. No more cake face Foundation that flakes or looks like it’s been caked-on stands out – and although you think people don’t notice it, they do!  First and foremost, follow  a good skincare regime and take care of your skin (with or without makeup).  Invest in good quality moisturizer from a trusted skincare range.  There are many out there, and I love using Clinique, Clarins, Bobbi Brown and for a less expensive option Nivea is also great.
