Product Review – Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger

Product Review – Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger

I’m loving this new range of haircare products by well known brand Paul Mitchell. It’s called awapuhi Wild Ginger and it’s the hair care range for modern women! Eight beautifully packaged, sleek products all of which feature a natural extract called “Awapuhi”, as well as a KeraTriplex™ complex that helps to strengthen and protect your hair leaving you with lovely, silky smooth locks. Hawaiian natives have used the fragrant juice of the Awapuhi Ginger plant to moisturize skin and hair. As I’m sure you’ve heard Keratin is all the rage – think Brazilian Keratin treatments. Well ladies, this range is perfect, not only because it injects keratin into your hair, but the shampoo in this range is safe to use if you’ve had a Brazilian straightening treatment as it is sulfate-free. I got to try out three products from this range, including; awapuhi Moisturizing Lather Shampoo, awapuhi Keratin Cream Rinse and awapuhi Keratin Intensive Treatment. Take a look… The awapuhi Moisturizing Lather Shampoo is lovely and smells gorgeous, fresh and fabulous! A small amount really goes a long way. Unlike traditional gel-texture shampoos, this one is more like a foam and feels creamy without weighing down the hair. It leaves…

We Review the new ghd Brushes

We Review the new ghd Brushes

Taking care of your hair goes beyond using the right hair care products and a good diet. Using the wrong brushes can really damage your hair, despite your attempts to look after your locks in every other way. That’s why I was super stoked when ghd launched their very own range of professional hair brushes, that glam girls can use at home. There are ten brushes in the ghd brush collection, including two hair combs. I got to test drive two of their brushes, and the ones I think a lot of girls would need on their dressing table. Take a look… The ghd Paddle Brush While I did find this brush a little heavier than my Philip Kingsley Paddle Brush, it’s still better than most brushes I’ve used. The bristles are super soft and don’t pull your hair at all. You can use it as a normal brush, or to blow dry your hair straight down, no ironing needed, well in my case at least. Another fab feature is you can brush your hair without it getting all static, a plus for girls with long, straight hair like mine. Like all the ghd brushes, it has a sleek, non…

Lee Stafford – Big Fat Healthy Hair Shampoo & Conditioner

Lee Stafford – Big Fat Healthy Hair Shampoo & Conditioner

Who doesn’t want Big, Fat Healthy Hair? As someone with fairly flat hair, this product appealed to me straight away. The Lee Stafford shampoo and conditioner, My Big Fat Healthy Hair gives hair great volume without weighing it down. It contains the Pro‐Volume™ complex of conditioning agents, that banishes dulling deposits that make hair go lank and limp. To top it off, Panthenol has been added to the mix, to keep hair healthy. I’ve been using this range every day since attending the Lee Stafford launch about two weeks ago. The results have been great, and my hair is shiny with loads of bounce. In between the two, I’ve been using the amazing treatment, Lee Stafford Treatment For Hair That Doesn’t Grow Past a Certain Length. (Read my review on this product here) It looks healthy and sleek, but what I love most about this and all Lee Stafford products in fact, is the gorgeous smell. It’s probably one of the best smelling hair ranges I’ve used. Its not quite perfumey, and it’s not quite herbal. It’s a completely different kind of scent that is present in all Lee Stafford products. Get it Lee Stafford, My Big Fat Healthy Hair…

ghd Heat Protect Spray

ghd Heat Protect Spray

I have a confession to make! I’ve never been a huge fan of ghd‘s Thermal Protector spray, so I was really glad when they got rid of it and re-invented it into the all new Heat Protect Spray with the new Heat Protection System technology. No more choosing the right heat protector for your hair type, the new ghd Style Heat Protect Spray is a one-size-fits-all-hair-types heat protector and so, so much better than the Thermal Protector spray. First up, it smells divine – like all the new ghd Style products do – and it isn’t sticky like the Thermal Protector spray. I sprayed it on my hand without rinsing it off and there was zero sticky residue. I love that! On the hair, it feels great, lightweight and keeps your locks protected when styling with heat. I have straight, quite fine hair – although lots of it – so I find that too much product can weigh it down. This one doesn’t. When I’m only blowdrying my hair, I usually spray ghd Style Heat Protect on my hair when it’s damp before blowdrying. If I’m straightening my hair after it’s air dried, I spray the product onto a comb…

Enjoy long lasting colour thanks to Scott Cornwal

Enjoy long lasting colour thanks to Scott Cornwal

The colour magician that allows you to bring the salon home, @ScottCornwall not only has the ultimate product to help you remove unwanted colour, but he’s also got two fabulous products that are ideal for using before you colour and afterwards, to keep your colour locked-in and looking radiant. Last week I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to change my red hair with copper highlights to more of a lighter brown than my natural colour, mixed with golden honey highlights. Before applying the colour, and for about two days before my Louise coloured my hair, I started using Scott Cornwal B4 U Colour. This product works as a clarifying shampoo, removing colour build up and silicones, to ensure that your hair colour gets absorbed easier and more effectively. It’s a great product and I’ve got it in my shower at the moment, so that I can use it when I feel my hair is very heavy. It deep cleanses the hair, removing all residues and silicone deposits and is pH buffered to ensure the best possible condition of your hair prior to colour treatment. After my colour application, I used Scot Cornwal Colour Stop instead of…

First look at the new ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition

First look at the new ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition

This August, ghd introduces Pink Orchid, a gorgeous new styler that donates R100 from every styler sold to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA). Taking its cue from Valentino, Ballenicaga and Christopher Kane, this limited edition styler set comes beautifully packaged in a trendy clutch bag that will no doubt complete, and add style to any outfit. I got to see the styler in the flesh at my meeting with ghd’s Marketing manager Janlyn and I’ve got to say it, the pictures do not do this styler justice! The clutch, which is to-die-for is finished in a vibrant shade of hot orchid pink with a peek-a-boo black lace overlay. The styler itself is the ghd Gold Classic styler with a twist, instead of having gold ceramic plates, this one is hot orchid pink! So what else do you get inside this fabulous limited edition gift set? The ghd Pink Orchid Limited Edition styler set comes complete with: ghd Gold Classic styler with vibrant hot pink styling plates; a protective plate guard to safely cover hot plates when you need to use your styler on the go; Pink heat-resistant styler case which will not only protect your most precious possession…

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Short Hair

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Short Hair

If you’ve got shorter hair but want to add length, you can do it in a flash with Clip in Hair Extensions. To demonstrate this I used my buddy ol’ pal and regular beauty guinea pig for StyleScoop, Louise. Now Louise has very short hair that is also layered, so transforming her short hair into long strands was bound to be difficult. Difficult, but not impossible 🙂 Because Louise’s hair was so short we had to come up with another way to make it longer. So instead of applying the clips and letting it loose as I did with mine, we styled hers a bit, adding a cute flower brooch that helped to tuck in the bits of hair that were sticking out. She pulled it all to one side to keep it looking sleek. On the opposite side Louse plaited her hair, letting the hair fall to one side only. How cute and clever is this? So see, even if your hair is super short, you can make it super long with some hair tricks. Although Louise’s hair colour is quite different to mine, with all the highlighted bits, the colour at the bottom was very similar to the…

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Long Hair

Clip in hair extensions – Review on Long Hair

Although my hair is already pretty long, sometimes I wish it could just be fuller and more glamorous you know! So, when I discovered clip in hair extensions, it was to say the least, love at first clip. I must admit, I was sceptical about these at first, I did’nt think they would hold on my hair as its super straight and very soft, but I am very impressed. I love my clip in hair extensions. Take a look… As you can see my hair is a pretty decent length, but who can so no to more long locks? Check out the transformation from the picture above. The clip in hair extensions have blended beautifully with my own hair – you can’t even tell the difference! I put these in myself (without being able to see the back of my head) and it took me about 7 minutes to get them all in there. My hair is pretty layered at the back, so I do have odd strands sticking out, but when I pull all my hair to the side or keep it all back (with no pieces in front) you can’t even see where my own hair ends. My…

Say hello to the new range from ghd

Say hello to the new range from ghd

Yesterday I got to meet the lovely Janlyn from ghd for a quick cup of coffee and to check out the new range of products from ghd. I was already quite a fan of their old Thermodynamics range, and while I’m saddened that it will soon be replaced, it makes it all better to know that the new contenders are even better than before. So far, I’ve only tried out the new Style Curl Hold Spray on my hair, and if this one is anything to go by, then I’m almost sure Ill be a devotee of the new range pretty soon! So what’s new? Well, pretty much everything! The new range has a whole new look; it’s sleek, sexy and very glamorous, it actually looks like a ghd product! The range comprises of 10 products aimed specifically at helping you style your hair. No more Shampoos, Condtioners and Treatments, ghd has invested all their energy into a high performance styling range. It’s ideal for use with the ghd hair straightener, or any other heat tool in fact. Every product in this new range has been re-devloped, and re-formulated to give you the very best. According to Janlyn, everything you loved about the old…

Scott Cornwall gives you Freedom to Play with Colour

Scott Cornwall gives you Freedom to Play with Colour

We’ve all been in those situations when your new hair colour looks more like a colour disaster than a fabulous new do. Imagine being able to reverse the “oops” with an application at home that doesn’t involve stripping or damaging your luscious locks. Well, it is possible and hair expert Scott Cornwall, who is currently in South Africa showed us how. On Tuesday I was flown to Cape Town’s Fire & Ice Hotel, where Scott Cornwall demonstrated his brilliant Colour B4 product. You might remember that Louise tried this product out for us and she loved it. So I already knew it worked, it was just really great to meet the man behind the brand and hear his expertise on hair colour. At the demonstration, Scott used Tammy to show us how the product worked. A beautiful blonde turned red head that beared a striking resemblance to Ashlee Simpson. She bravely had her blonde locks dyed red that morning to show us how easily it could be reversed.   We were all very keen to see how Scott restored her colour … While we waited to see Tammy’s after, we were treated to the most delicious pink sparkly cupcakes and…
