Scott Cornwall gives you Freedom to Play with Colour

We’ve all been in those situations when your new hair colour looks more like a colour disaster than a fabulous new do. Imagine being able to reverse the “oops” with an application at home that doesn’t involve stripping or damaging your luscious locks. Well, it is possible and hair expert Scott Cornwall, who is currently in South Africa showed us how.

On Tuesday I was flown to Cape Town’s Fire & Ice Hotel, where Scott Cornwall demonstrated his brilliant Colour B4 product. You might remember that Louise tried this product out for us and she loved it. So I already knew it worked, it was just really great to meet the man behind the brand and hear his expertise on hair colour.

At the demonstration, Scott used Tammy to show us how the product worked. A beautiful blonde turned red head that beared a striking resemblance to Ashlee Simpson. She bravely had her blonde locks dyed red that morning to show us how easily it could be reversed.

We were all very keen to see how Scott restored her colour …

While we waited to see Tammy’s after, we were treated to the most delicious pink sparkly cupcakes and pink virgin cocktails, as well as a lovely selection of food. The cupcakes were made by Tammy’s mom who does these for all sorts of occasions. You have to check out her Facebook page to see all the lovely treats she can create.

Now, before I show you Tammy’s after pic, Scott shared some interesting information on Colour B4. It can be used on pretty much all hair types and it’s function is to restore your colour back to it’s natural state after colouring. Taking you back to your roots, literally. It effortlessly removes colour without affecting the natural pigment of your hair. It works by “shrinking the colourant molecules” in the hair, which can then be washed away.

The product comes with three products, easily marked in steps on how to use them

You can also die your hair straight afterwards, although Scott suggests giving your hair a bit of rest, and instead of using permanent colour, rather opt for what he calls “Level 1 Colours” or colour shampoos that don’t contain any peroxide. He also advises that the longer you take to do your hair, the better the result. So, although it’s quick and easy to transform back to your roots with Colour B4, it’s important that you follow the instructions on the box if you want it to give you the desired end result.

Did it transform Tammy back to blonde?

It sure did and her hair looked gorgeous and vibrant. Not a trace of red on her locks. All the other beauty editors and bloggers waited in line to feel her hair and were all pleasantly surprised that it was soft and just as beautiful as before. Not that I didn’t like her red, she has a complexion that would suit all colours, but it was interesting to see her transformed so effortlessly and so quickly. A true genius product indeed!

And what about highlighted hair? Would it remove the bleached bits too?

      Hi Debs
We asked Scott to answer this one for you – he’s response below 🙂

“Colour B4 can’t undo lightening. Colour B4 will take you back to the lightest colour you have dyed your hair. If she wants to remove bleach or highlights she can simply buy a colourant that is two shades lighter than her natural colour and apply this to damp hair.  This will mute down the bleaches areas and create a natural result which should blend with her own colour.  It’s also just as quick and easy to do this as using Colour B4.”

      Hope that answers your question?

I have been colouring my dark hair for quite a long time and have been having highlights as I want my hair blond but I still have a lot of the dark colour left. So its like a low light. If I use the color b4 to ligten my dark pieces will it damage my highlights I have?
