An Explosion of Stars

An Explosion of Stars

Ladies prepare to feast your eyes on the beautiful, new YSL Beauté Holiday Collection. It’s called “Sparkle Clash” and it’s a true celebration in a palette – an explosion of stars and such an insanely beautiful makeup collection that will make the perfect holiday gift! “The idea behind this exclusive holiday look is to totally re-think that old-fashioned way of painstakingly applying layers of cosmetics, just because it’s that time of the year again. I wanted to put the fun back into glamour, and make everything easy to apply, so that even the makeup feels like a party. Isn’t that what the season is all about?” ~ Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL Beauté When I saw the Sparkle Clash Edition Complete Make-Up Palette, I was literally starstruck! It’s probably the most beautiful packaging I have ever seen. When I opened the inside to reveal the beauty of this palette I squealed a little more as every colour in the palette is all me! There’s a quad of beautiful, buttery and very wearable eyeshadows, including; a metallic rose, a beautiful bronze, a champagne gold and my favourite, a punchy plum.

Shop & Score this Festive Season with #PayPalSA

Shop & Score this Festive Season with #PayPalSA

So you want to shop and enjoy all the festive holiday deals splashed all over the internet? Why should it be only the American’s having all the fun? I’ve got great news for you! PayPal not only makes online shopping safe, secure and seamless, but they’ve also put together a fabulous partnership, enabling customers in the majority of sub-Saharan Africa countries, including South Africa, to benefit from holiday sales in the USA. If you don’t use PayPal already, then I suggest you start! I’ve been using PayPal for years and have purchased tangible and digital goods from around the world and I have never had any issues. PayPal is a brilliant concept that detaches fear from online shopping, mainly because you never have to dish out your credit card details when purchasing something online. You literally store your bank details on your safe and secure PayPal account, and when you make an online purchase (with a retailer that offers PayPal checkout), all you need is your PayPal username and password to pay. The seller will never know your financial details. Pretty cool hey? Everyone can sign up for a Free PayPal account, and because it’s linked to your bank account, you never have to worry about “topping up” your PayPal limit. If international online shopping still scares…

Packing and The Last Day of Winter

Packing and The Last Day of Winter

Well, for me anyway :-). I’m off with the Hubz to enjoy some fun in the Sun in Europe today and I can’t hardly wait. We’re off to Greece via Dubai for a whole month, and on the way back we’re spending a few days in Dubai, sightseeing and definitely some shopping! I always tend to overpack and end up not wearing 80% of what I cart along, so this time around I’ve tried to pack a little smarter. Besides, the more space you have, the more you can shop! My biggest problem is shoes! I want all of them “just in case”, which I’m sure many of you can relate to! For this trip I’ve packed one pair of heels, one pair of wedges that double up as “smart shoes”, three pairs of sandals (in black, nude and bright yellow) and my Havianas. Today I’m traveling with my fave, nude ballet flats, so covered there too! I think I’m pretty stored. My Hubz was actually shocked and impressed that I didn’t pack my whole shoe collection. Little does he know I plan on growing the collection while I’m in Europe and Dubai! The other thing I would love to…

The Magic of the Holidays

The Magic of the Holidays

Trapeze artists, elephants, hula-hoops and walking the tight rope. These are some of the characters you´ll encounter in the Louis Vuitton window displays this holiday season… Like windows open onto a poetic otherworld, the Louis Vuitton window displays are summoning the splendour of the circus to celebrate the holiday season. Tightrope walkers and trapeze artists, tamers and clowns: the parade of all of these heroes of our childhood leads us into a fabulous world where elephants dance on stools and big cats tenderly purr. Louis Vuitton is very familiar with this magical universe. The inventiveness of the Maison’s founders and the skill of its craftsmen were so well known in the circus world that it would appear that Houdini, the famous conjurer who defied every security mechanism in the late 19thcentury, even decided against confronting the – said to be impregnable – locks on Louis Vuitton trunks. Documents of the time show that the mime artist Kita always had his customised trunk to hand, even on stage. And because legend and magic go hand in hand, destiny doubtless conspired so that the Rancy family, who owned an eponymous circus, took up residence on the land next to the Asnières home.…

Road trip

Road trip

December is a wonderful time of year. Most of us take leave and spend some time with family and friends. A fair amount of us Jo’burg bunnies head off for the sand and sea, away from the city’s hustle and bustle. The reality is that most of Jo’burg is at the coast and you end up seeing more people you know while you’re away from home than when you’re both there! For those of you braving a drive down to your holiday destinations there are some very important checks to do on your car before driving down. First thing is to ensure your car’s servicing is up to date and that you will not be due for one while you’re away. Rather ensure that it is serviced ahead of time. There is nothing glamorous about sitting on the side of the road with the entire contents of the car unpacked on the highway! Check your driver’s license and car license are all valid. Then you need to check the normal things: 1. Oil, water, battery, brake fluid 2. Check your windscreen wipers are not cracked or damaged 3. Check your all lights and indicators are in good working order 4.…
