Louboutin Nails

Louboutin Nails

My obsession with Christian Louboutin doesn’t end at the feet! I love, and have always wanted to try out the infamous “Louboutin Mani” made famous, probably by Adele. This is by no means a “new” nail trend, however, I’ve put a little spin on my Louboutin Manicure. I have a pair of nude, Christian Louboutin patent leather pumps (the Bianca), so instead of going for black nails with red “bottoms”, I wanted to try match my Louboutin mani to my Louboutin pumps… I went to see my bestest Jo-D, who is an absolute nail genius, told her what I wanted and this was her interpretation. If you ask me, she nailed it and matched the colour to the T! When my friend Kelly saw my nails the other day, without even seeing the sneaky flash of red underneath, she instantly said “your nails look just like your shoes”.  When I flipped my hand over, she was really impressed. Of course, my natural nail is nowhere near this length and my “normal shape” is square. So, Jo-D hooked me up with Brisa Sculpt – another product I had been itching to try on all my nails, and created a more almond shape. To perfect the…

Rose Bud

Rose Bud

My nails are so happy to have Shellac back on – yay! Loving this soft, pretty and very girly pink from Shellac called Rose Bud. I do love my pinks, and while I normally opt for brighter colours, I decided to tone down the shade with something more muted, since I wanted a subtle nail art effect this time around. Check out the “bling” on my ring finger. I think works perfectly with this colour. What’s your fave colour right now?

Cake Pop

Cake Pop

Nude nails have always been a favourite of mine, but add a little pop of pink to nude nail polish and you’ve got me drawing hearts and feeling full of love! Since I had a little pre-summer summer, I already know what nail polish is going to be my favourite this season! I wore this colour, CAKE POP throughout my entire summer holiday in Greece, and it will probably remain my colour of choice as we head into summer here in South Africa! Two summers in a row for me – whose a lucky girl?? Anyhoo! Before we left for our holiday, the lovely Jo-D painted my nails in Shellac Cake Pop. The colour lasted me two weeks and a bit, before it drove me nuts and I had to remove it. Thankfully though, Jodes gave me a bottle of VINYLUX in the exact same colour and Weekly Top Coat to keep me going. For the first couple of days, after my Shellac had grown out, I touched up with VINYLUX, which is the exact same shade, and it worked well. But, I can’t stand my nails looking uneven, so into my third week of Shellac, I had it removed…

Nail Polish That Lasts For 7 Days?! VINYLUX Is Here!

Nail Polish That Lasts For 7 Days?! VINYLUX Is Here!

I’m so amped to share this news with you! I’ve been holding onto it until the product arrived in South Africa, and so excited that VINYLUX – The seven day, flawless colour nail polish, is finally here! VINYLUX is a brand new range of nail polish from one of my favourite nail brands, CND (you know the geniuses behind the awesome Shellac). But, what makes it different is that it claims to last for up to seven days! VINYLUX is unlike any other self-application nail polish you’ve ever used. It’s new innovative system, that includes a self-adhering colour coat requires absolutely no base coat! It dries faster, it’s more durable and claims to ensure no chipping or scratching for at least one week! You need two thin layers of VINYLUX Weekly Colour Coat and one layer of VINYLUX Top Coat for 7 Days of non-chip, non-fade nails!  The innovative, special formula Top Coat becomes more durable and powerful when exposed to natural light, which ensures that your nail colour stays as vibrant as the day you applied it! Ordinary nail polish takes between 15-20 minutes to dry! But who really has time for that? VINYLUX dries completely in eight and half minutes – flat! Now…

Nautical Nails

Nautical Nails

I love nautical stripes, they remind me so much of summer! After bearing dark, rock ‘n roll nails for about two weeks, I decided to go with something a little more “fresh” on my nails this time around! I really wanted to do something with stripes, and I found a beautiful design on Pinterest that I thought would be perfect to incorporate into my next Shellac! The fabulous and talented Jo-D did my nails (of course), and she did the entire design free hand! No stickers and no tape! Talk about talented! To achieve this look, Jo-D applied the white Shellac colour Cream Puff onto all my nails! She used the blue colour Midnight Swim to create the stripes and Wildfire to create the hearts! Isn’t this design just a cutie pie? The best thing about this nail art, is that because it’s Shellac, if I get tired of the white (which I haven’t yet), I could always paint over it with normal nail polish and remove it without removing the Shellac colour. I’m thinking perhaps all red or all navy? What do you guys think? Love it or hate it?

Welcome To The Dark Side

Welcome To The Dark Side

Black nails are just one of those things… you either love them or you hate them! I love them, but I hate it when they chip! They end up looking very goth, but not in a good way! And let’s face it, good ‘ol fashioned nail polish doesn’t last long, and who really has time to paint their nails daily? There was a time when I did, but not anymore. On Friday I went to change up my Shellac from my fun Polka Dotty Nails and decided to go over onto the dark side! Shellac Black Pool is the one colour of Shellac I had been dying to try! Black, glossy, chip-free nails for over two weeks! Now that’s what I’m talking about. As I’m going to the Converse #GETDIRTY event on Saturday, I wanted something a little rocker. Something a little bit edgy and I definitely knew I wanted to use one the skull nail art from my  Nails inc Leather Effect Bling it on Rebel selection. This is how the final look came out. On my right hand, we blinged up only the ring finger with some of the crystals from the Bling it on Rebel selection, and on my left, Jo-D added a…

Polka Dotty Shellac Nails

Polka Dotty Shellac Nails

I had a really tough time choosing a new colour for my Shellac nails yesterday. I’d been dying to try something from their Spring 2013 Sweet Dreams Collection which has some beautiful pastel colours. But, it was so hard to pick just one! Being indecisive and greedy at the same time, I decided to have a little fun with my nails. The end result (thanks to the amazing Jo-D), was this fun, polka dotty nail art design. I love it! This is such a fun nail art design, and I’m really digging it! It makes me feel like a kid again. Best of all, (like a kid) I got my way, by getting to wear three of the new colours, all at the same time! To achieve this nail art design, here are the colours that were used: Thumb – Cake Pop *new Index Finger – Gotcha (an old favourite) Middle Finger – Azure Wish *new Ring Finger – Cream Pop (white) with polka dots using Blackpool Pinky – Limeade *new with a thin layer of Romantique The lime green on my pinky finger is quite a metallic shade and, on it’s own, it didn’t really compliment the pastel-pretty design. So, to mattify…

We Review Brisa Lite – The New, Superior Gel System

We Review Brisa Lite – The New, Superior Gel System

I’ve been so excited to share this amazing new nail technology with you guys! I had it done on the 3rd May and only just removed it today! I’ve been so impressed with it, but wanted wait until I had it removed before I posted my review. You guys probably know how much I love my Shellac nails! I’m obsessed not only with the pretty colours, but the amazing durability, long lasting shine and of course, that I can keep my nails virtually chip-free for more than two weeks! When I was told that CND (the makers of Shellac) had a new Gel system for nails, I was keen to try it out. It’s called Brisa™ Lite and it is the result of the science behind two of CND’s products; Brisa™ (a permanent gel system) and the superior removablity of Shellac. Let me first start by saying, I hate having gel on my nails. While it looks good (in the beginning), it leaves my nails brittle and damaged. Every time I did it, I would regret it! The last time I ever used (and will probably ever use) traditional Gel on my nails, was on my wedding day, five years ago! Brisa™ Lite, unlike traditional…

Products That Rocked 2012! Shellac

Products That Rocked 2012! Shellac

Once you’ve been Shellac-ed, there is just no going back! This amazing nail colour system has got to be one of my most fabulous finds this entire year! I was hooked on it from the very first application, which was  grey shade called Asphalt. I have since enjoyed wearing a few different colour variations including; Gotcha, Rock Royalty and Cocoa as well as Tropix and Rubble that are not featured in the images below. My favourite shade has got to be Tropix for summer. I’m actually sporting it on my feet right now! Then, for an every day, every mood, every season kinda colour, Cocoa is my number one pick! This amazing nail colour system has not only ensured that my colour stays close to perfect for up to two weeks, but because it’s a pore-less system – meaning that oxygen can get through to your nail bed – the health of my nails has also been improved. I am quite hard on my poor nails and without Shellac, I could kiss growing them goodbye! To read my full review on how Shellac lasted, how it was applied and how it was removed, with before and after pictures check out this blog post. I can’t…

Rock Royalty

Rock Royalty

Loving this shade of Shellac I’m currently wearing. It’s from their new winter collection, a gorgeous deep purple shade called Rock Royalty… I’m totally addicted to Shellac! I have been wearing it on my nails almost non-stop since I had my first Shellac application in January.
