An Explosion of Stars

Ladies prepare to feast your eyes on the beautiful, new YSL Beauté Holiday Collection. It’s called “Sparkle Clash” and it’s a true celebration in a palette – an explosion of stars and such an insanely beautiful makeup collection that will make the perfect holiday gift!

“The idea behind this exclusive holiday look is to totally re-think that old-fashioned way of painstakingly applying layers of cosmetics, just because it’s that time of the year again. I wanted to put the fun back into glamour, and make everything easy to apply, so that even the makeup feels like a party. Isn’t that what the season is all about?” ~ Lloyd Simmonds, Creative Director Makeup YSL Beauté

When I saw the Sparkle Clash Edition Complete Make-Up Palette, I was literally starstruck! It’s probably the most beautiful packaging I have ever seen. When I opened the inside to reveal the beauty of this palette I squealed a little more as every colour in the palette is all me!

There’s a quad of beautiful, buttery and very wearable eyeshadows, including; a metallic rose, a beautiful bronze, a champagne gold and my favourite, a punchy plum.

All the shadows are metallic without being glittery and they are so wearable, that you could create a bunch of gorgeous, eye catching looks for day or night.

On the left is a sensational highlighter with subtle pink and gold undertones. At first I thought this shade wouldn’t show up on my olive skin, but man oh man is it beautiful! Although I didn’t notice the colour too much, when the light hit my face, it was like I had been touched by angels!

I’m also really glad that this highlighter is more of a sheen finish than powdery one. It doesn’t look like you have a streak of powder, but rather a choir of subtle sparkles that light up when the light hits just right.

A little goes a long way in terms of getting your glow on, but if you really wanted to take it to a whole new level of glam for a night out, just apply more layers. I found even when I loaded up with three layers, the texture remained skin-like without a trace of cake face!

Above, I’ve got one layer of the highlighter on my face, and you can see how natural it looks.

Then to finish off this amazing palette, you get two lip colours. The one on the left is perfect nude that just gives your lips a gorgeous softness with light reflecting pigments. It feels like butter on your lips and smells amazing!

The one on the right is more dramatic, and perfect for a night out. It’s a red, but with more of a wine undertone. Again it feels beautiful on the lips and smells like heaven.

The finish for both of the lippies is like a nice glossy butter texture that makes lips feel soft and supple.

Then, I also had to tell you gals about these nail polishes, which are not part of the holiday exclusive, but such perfect party colours!

I’ve started a new love affair with YSL nail polish and it all began with these two shades! LA LAQUE COUTURE  in 74 Rouge Over Noir and 75 Fuchsia Over Noir.

I photographed the pic above in direct light so that you can see the undertones coming through, but both of these polishes have a deep, dark, sultry and sexy persona – making them perfect for a night on the town!

Rouge Over Noir is a deep, burgundy red. One coat really shows up the red tones, but when you apply the second coat, it brings on a more dramatic blackish red that looks elegant and chic.

If you’re a lover Chanel Rouge Noir, then you WILL LOVE YSL Rouge over Noir.

I’m wearing three coats of YSL Rouge Over Noir with no top coat and I’m amazed at how glossy it looks sans top coat. The texture of the polish isn’t too thick and it applies like a dream. No streaks, no bubble effect and you really get your money’s worth with these polishes.

Because the texture is lightweight (yet still very pigmented), you can easily get away with three coats without it looking like you’ve got paint on your nails.

YSL Rouge Over Noir is a more purpley-black shade. It’s deep, dark and mysterious and definitely I colour that I’ll be rocking this party season.

Get your hands on a little sparkle!

Good news gals! The YSL Sparkle Clash Holiday Look will only be available in the YSL Beauté Online Pop-up Boutique which means, no matter where you are in South Africa, the beautiful holiday collection can be yours!

The Palette is an absolute must and at R935 it’s so worth it since you practically have your entire makeup collection on hand. You may also want to grab the gorgeous holiday nail polishes (the ones I featured are not from the sparkle collection), but feast your eyes on this one and this one.
