Fragrances are one of my favourite gifts in the world, and with Valentines Day just around the corner, I’ve picked out nine sweet smelling, perfect-for-love fragrances that haven’t been featured on StyleScoop before. As a special Valentines Day treat, I’ve paired these scents with three new lipstick launches, because everyone knows that lipsticks and fragrances are the perfect companions.

White Musk & Nude Lips

For a soft, white musk scent that’s pretty and feminine, try the new L’Occitane Arlésienne fragrance or the exquisite LANVIN Eclat de Fleurs…

L’Occitane Arlésienne (R990 – 75ml EDT) is a musky floral fragrance which is soft and beautiful. It reminds me of a garden in the spring, and with each note, it reveals a new olfactory pleasure. The top notes include; Bergamot, Saffron, Galbanum and Hawthorn. In the middle lies May Rose and Violet Leaf, while the base notes are made up of White Musk, Amberette, Sandalwood and Ambrox.

LANVIN Eclat de Fleurs (R995 for 50ml or R1295 for R100ml EDP) is another lovely, white musk floral fragrance. It’s as delightful as smelling a bouquet of fresh flowers, while taking a bite of a juicy pear. Compared to Arlésienne, LANVIN Eclat de Fleurs is a richer scent, with a more intense dominance, making it a great choice if you like the idea of floral fragrances, but like a strong scent. It opens with top notes of Pear, middle notes of Jasmine, Rose and Freesia and settles on base notes of White Musk and Sandalwood.

Sweet Scents & Pink Pouts

For a sweet scent that’s young, fun and playful try the new Hugo Woman Extreme, Stella McCartney POP or Britney Spears Private Show…

HUGO Woman Extreme (R740.00 for 30ml, R1070 for 50ml or R1370 for 100ml EDP) is a sweet scent, bursting with freshness that speaks out to the confidant, young woman.

The top notes burst with Boysenberry (think of it as a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry) and Himalayan Red Grass. In the heart lies Jasmine and Black Tea, while the base is comprised of a single note; oriental Osmanthus. It’s a fresh scent that is vibrant and energetic!

Stella McCartney POP (R815.00 for 30ml, R1015 for 50ml or R1475 for 100ml EDP) is the latest fragrance from the British Powerhouse, made for the new generation; Young, sassy women who are the up and coming Stella McCartney Icons. 

Compared to HUGO Woman Extreme, Stella McCartney POP is more on the sweet side and opens with top notes of Violet Leaf, Green Mandarin and Tomato leaf. In the heart you’ll find Violet, Tuberose and Frangipani which add sweetness. Finally the base is comprised of Sandalwood, Cedar and Musk.

I love the film clip for this fragrance! It features Madonna’s gorgeous daughter, Lourdes Leon with 3 young and fun girls trail blazing a road of discovery in the Cali desert. Just take a look! It’s really beautiful.

Britney Spears Private Show (R465 for 30ml, R565 for 50ml or R665 for 100ml EDP) is the new fragrance from the pop diva. A scent inspired by Britney’s love for dulce de leche. It’s a sweet treat indeed with top notes of Coffee, Whipped Cream, Nectarine and Clementine. Jasmine Sambac, Orange Blossom and Dulce de Leche lie in the heart, while Amber and Musk make up the base notes.

Playfully Passionate Scents & Berry Lips

For a sensual fragrance that’s passionately playful try Kenzo Jeu D’Amour L’Elixir or Lacoste L.12.12 Magnetic Pour Elle…

Kenzo Jeu D’Amour L’Elixir (R1040 for 30ml, R1450 for 50ml or R1825 for 100ml EDP) is a seductive fragrance for the woman who dares. Dressed in a passionately purple bottle, the scent opens with top notes of Blackberry, Mandarin and Orange. The middle is laced with Tuberose and Jasmine, while the base notes include Rum, Vanilla, Patchouli, Caramel and Sandalwood.

It’s a combination of delightful and delicious with a whole lot of sexiness!

Lacoste L.12.12 Magnetic Pour Elle (R760 for 25ml, R1015 for 45ml or R1385 for 80ml EDP) is a vibrant and energetic fragrance that may not scream sex appeal, but certainly taps into the gracefulness and elegance of the classy, classic lady who remains true to her playfulness. Reminiscent of tropical fruits, it opens with top notes of Orange, Clementine and Mango, although I do get a sense of berries! In the heart lies Heliotrope, Jasmine Rose and Violet Leaf, while the base is comprised of Patchouli, Tonka Bean and Vanilla.

Fearless Scents & Red Hot Lips

For a beautiful red scent that oozes with love, try Elizabeth Arden Always Red Femme or Revlon Love is On…

Elizabeth Arden Always Red Femme (R545 for 30ml or R895 for 100ml EDT) is a feminine scent that’s a little more playful and trendy than the Elizabeth Arden Red Door fragrance lineup. Pear, Cassis and Lemon greet you with a refreshing wave. In the heart lies Peach Blossom, Artemisia, Lily-of-the-Valley and Jasmine, while the base notes are made up of Patchouli, Moss, Cedar and Vanilla.

Revlon Love is On (R399 for 50ml EDT) comes in the cutest little heart shaped/ lips shaped bottle making it a perfect Valentines Day scent! It’s subtly fragranced with the lightness of zesty lemon paired with a touch of red berries. A fuss free, yet very pretty scent for the woman who want’s to smell pretty without overdoing her fragrance.

Lip Lovin’ Three Ways…

I chose these lipsticks because they are quite new to the market and I found myself reaching for them all the time. Apart from the nudes, the colours last so well making them the perfect lipstick for kissable lips!

CHANEL Jumbo Longwear Lip Crayon (R610) is the latest lip love from CHANEL. Available in 9 beautiful shades, this fun new retractable crayon feels amazing on the lips. Soft and silky with a texture that glides on and saturates your lips in rich, bold colour.

The nude, No 1 is a perfect beige nude that’s a great everyday shade, but I’m obsessed with No 7 which is the brightest fuchsia that I can’t get enough of. I love how powerfully it goes on (sans lip liner) and lasts really well on me. Although it does eventually wear down, the wear down itself still leaves my lips with a lovely stain while keeping my lips hydrated and crack free.

LANCOME L’Absolu Rouge (R399) is the re-invention of Lancome lipsticks by their new creative Director, Lisa Eldridge. Available in 25 shades in a palette of matte and cream textures, these lipsticks offer bold colour in a variation of perfect nudes, intense reds, deep raspberries, punchy oranges and vibrant pinks.

Packaged in a gorgeous case that clicks out, you’ll want  them all. I fell head over heels in love with Le Rose Persan a bright pink matte and Rose Lancome a creamy, luscious pink berry toned shade which compliments my olive skin to the tee!

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Bold Liquid Lipstick (R295) is Elizabeth Arden’s take on liquid lips and they’ve nailed it by offering long lasting wear and a beautiful selection of colours. There are 7 shades in the collection and they come with a super cool click pen applicator.

The texture is luxurious and creamy with an intense, high gloss finish. I played with most of these at the press launch and every single shade, apart from Daring Beige saturated my lips in boldness that stayed put! Daring Beige is a nice shade, but it’s the only one I felt I had to re-apply. From the collection I love Luscious Raspberry and oh my gosh, Seductive Magenta and Extreme Pink are such beauts! Just a tip though, don’t drop your lippies if you can, I sadly broke my Extreme Pink and it no longer clicks up. Sad face!
