Hi There

3 Steps to Gorgeous Hair

3 Steps to Gorgeous Hair

I’m not often wowed by hair products after the first use. But, when it comes to the new Kerastase Densifique range, I have been totally blown away! This new hair systems works at building the hair, giving it visible density, shine and an all-round healthy appearance. It’s a hair course that works in three stages to get the hair in tip top condition! Bathe the hair with a gorgeous, bodyfying shampoo that has been custom designed to lift impurities and cleanse hair that lacks density. It helps to awaken dormant bulbs, and give the hair substance and tone. Treat the hair with a luxurious mask that enables immediate hair transformation. It’s delicate and powerful, adding smoothness and lightness to the hair, regenerating it from root to tip. Regenerate hair instantly with a daily treatment that works immediately, and best of all, it doesn’t weigh your hair down one single bit. This 30-day treatment, when applied daily is said to show added body after 10 days, added density after 30 days and after 3 months of use, results show that it’s able to reveal up to 1700 new hairs. Impressive! Now that you have the low-down, let me tell you what I thought about this range… The Shampoo is amazing!…

XL Hair Can Be Yours Thanks To Fibrology from L’Oreal

XL Hair Can Be Yours Thanks To Fibrology from L’Oreal

Get excited gals, because thicker, fuller, Xtra-Large hair can now be yours thanks to L’Oreal Fibrology – A new hair range that promises big things for thin hair! At a recent L’Oreal press launch, this range was by far the most talked about! Beauty editors and #bbloggers couldn’t seem to contain their excitement when the announcement was made that Fibrology would be hitting the shelves this April! I was particularly excited, since I have fine hair and only wish that it could be fuller! Well gals, I am happy to say, that I have tried this range and it absolutely is my hair’s new BFF! Hello XL Hair! The amazing thing about this range, is that it thickens the hair from the root. It doesn’t “add bulk” on the surface, so your hair remains shiny and full of life! It’s a godsend for thin hair and who better to endorse this range than the amazing Blake Lively – in all her crowning glory! It took 17 years of research and 8 years of testing to develop this  range, with it’s “Magic” ingredient…. Filloxane Unlike other “thickening” ingredients, Filoxane doesn’t simply coat the root of your hair to make it appear thicker. It penetrates the hair fiber to expand it from the inside and amp up…

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick @RetailBox1

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick @RetailBox1

I’m currently testing out this moisture boosting collection of hair products by Schwarzkopf. If you have dry hair, course or unmanageable hair, then this my dear readers is for you! The Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick range has been designed to, do as the name says, and give your hair a kick of moisture. Although my hair is not course, it tends to get very dry and since it is straight and fine, finding products to keep it sleek without weighing it down are always top of my list. The formula for Bonacure contains an amino acid and Milk-Protein-Complex that helps to re-balance the moisture in the hair, working from the root to give you healthier, shinier hair! The result? Well I’ve been using it for just over a week now, every day (since I have to wash my hair daily in any case) and I’ve definitely noticed that my hair is a lot easier to manage – especially when it’s wet. Usually after I get out of the shower, after washing and conditioning my hair,  it still feels kinda dry. Since using the Schwarzkopf Bonacure Moisture Kick trio of products, combing my hair is far less of a hassle these days. When it dry it…

What I shopped at Retail Box

What I shopped at Retail Box

Shopping for your hair can now be done from the comfort of your couch thanks to the convenience of RETAIL BOX. It really sucks not being able to find professional hair products that you read about on blogs (like StyleScoop) or see in magazines. I know, when Moroccanoil first launched in South Africa, I got hundreds of queries on where to find it. Two years later, and I still get asked. Thankfully, we can now get our hair fix and shop professional hair care brands like; Moroccanoil, Kérastase, Paul Mitchell, Schwartzkopf, L’Oreal, Redken, Brazilian Blowout, Brasil Cacau, ghd and Nisim, online thanks to RETAIL BOX. I am really impressed with the wide variety of products available for all hair types! Besides that, RETAIL BOX have fab specials on ghd stylers and promos on “bundle purchases”, where you get a shampoo, conditioner and treatment at a discounted rate on specific ranges. So, instead of being bombarded by pushy hairdressers to buy the latest fad of hair care products, you can now go through the different hair products, specific to your hair type and make your own decision – in your own time! Everything is easily categorized so you can find what you’re looking for without getting sidetracked. RETAIL BOX gave me a…

Summer Festival

Summer Festival

Two outfit posts in one week! You can defs tell that I’m getting into the summer groove! And, I’m actually starting to make friends with my camera too (hehe). Okay, so Toni&GUY asked me to Dress from the Hair down and put together a look of the week for their Tumblr page. Since we’re pretty deep into festival season, outdoor parties and summer days spent outside, I based my look around “Rocktober” and came up with this festival-ready hair and outfit… I washed my hair and combed it out using a bit of Toni&GUY Smoothing Detangler To style my hair, I used TONI&GUY Sea Salt Texturizing spray which I sprayed into my damp hair before rough drying it. Then, I just pulled my hair to the side and braided it. I braided it quite tightly and left a little space where I tied it up, so that I had enough room to tug at the sides of my braid. I do this to give it a fuller and messier appearance. For the outfit, of course I picked something denim! My gorgeous denim gilet which I bought in Greece and a fun, floral (but not too girly) dress, aviator shades and although you can’t see them, I…

#TousledHairDontCare

#TousledHairDontCare

Almost time for parteeeee-season! What are you going to wear? More importantly, what are you going to do with your hair? Sleek and sexy is always good for party locks, but since here in South Africa, holiday season revolves around summer parties and beach-bound hair, casual, yet sexy hair is always a winner in my book! Since I am also a Durban gal, you guys know the humidity here can be pretty crazy at times, so instead of fighting messy hair, I’ve decided to work with it instead! One of my fave looks for sexy summer hair, is the tousled, effortless, “I just woke up with it” kind of hair. Think Miranda Kerr and Blake Lively (but without the curls). This look has more attitude than tousled hair with curls and is so much easier to do! I don’t know about you guys, but having to style my hair with heat in summer can get pretty uncomfortable, especially on those friggin’ hot mornings! There are tons of ways to get this look, but here’s how I did it… Shampoo and condition hair Rough dry using a hairdryer on medium heat until hair is damp but not completely dry While the hair…

How To Create 5 Easy Summer Braids

How To Create 5 Easy Summer Braids

Summer and braids go together like milk and honey! Braids offer the perfect way to keep your locks out of your face, while ensuring you look stylish and pulled together, despite the heat! Lately, I’ve been obsessed with trying to braid my hair! I am far from good at it, but the more I practice, the better I seem to be getting. Thankfully there is loads of help on Youtube to make life a little easier! Here are five of my favourite, easy braided hairstyles with video tutorials to help you along the way and possibly give you some hair-spiration! Which one is your fave? 1. French, Side Flat Twists I love this look because it reminds me so much of my Colgate “Cosmo” Shoot that I did with Optic White. I like that it’s pretty but still gives the hair a rocker edge! Mindy from Cute Girls Hairstyles shows you how to create this do and it looks pretty simple. 2. The Twisted Rope Lilith Moon is one of my fave hair fashionistas on Youtube! The thing I really like about her tutorials, is that she doesn’t have thick, full hair naturally, and that she uses clip in hair extensions to…

[Closed] A Second Chance to WIN With DOVE Intensive Hair Repair

[Closed] A Second Chance to WIN With DOVE Intensive Hair Repair

So, last month we ran a fabulous competition with DOVE, giving one lucky StyleScoop reader a six month’s supply of their Intensive Hair Repair range. We had loads of entries, and Vicky Sofilas from Durban was randomly selected as the winner! Well done Vicky! If you’re feeling all sad that it wasn’t your name that was drawn, DOVE has given us another hamper to give away to one other lucky StyleScoop reader! YAY! Another six month’s supply of the DOVE Intensive Hair Repair range could be yours! This includes the shampoo, conditioner, daily treatment conditioner as well as the mask! I’ve been using mine since mid July and kinda love this range! I honestly think that the DOVE hair products are affordable and offer great results! I also loved their Nourishing Oil Care range, which I reviewed last year and have used since. I do feel that I owe the DOVE Deep Repair Treatment Mask a shout out. I absolutely love this product! My hair looks super shiny and is so manageable, I almost can’t believe it! Having pin straight hair that gets greasy quickly, I don’t like using treatment products as I find them to create too much buildup. However, this product gives my…

Fix Dry & Damaged Hair With GLISS Ultimate Oil Elixir

Fix Dry & Damaged Hair With GLISS Ultimate Oil Elixir

Schwartzkopf have recently launched their Ultimate Oil Elixir range. A complete hair care system, designed to treat dry and damaged hair with the powers of liquid keratin. Besides looking uber luxe, this range smells heavenly. It’s not suitable for very fine hair, so reviewing it on my own hair (which is very fine) probably won’t give the product a great review. However, as I love the GLISS Marrakesh Oil & Coconut range, which is more suitable for my hair type – I have great confidence in this range, for those of you that have thicker, courser hair that is in need of a little TLC. GLISS Ultimate Oil Elixir works as a hair repair system to renew and reinforce the hair structures. According to the press release, it helps to reduce hair breakage by up to 95%. The nourishing formula Ultimate Oil Elixir range consists of a Shampoo, Conditioner, Mask, Express-Repair Conditioner and Serum (that has visible golden particles). Have any of you guys tried out this range? Let me know your thoughts on it.

Bang on! 5 Easy Steps To Keep Your Fringe in Place

Bang on! 5 Easy Steps To Keep Your Fringe in Place

Are you trying to grow a fringe? Frustrated that it never seems to sit where you want it to? My hairdresser BFF, Louise from Zephyr Hair in Gillits has these five easy steps to styling your fringe and keeping it in place! When you’re drying your hair, blow wave your fringe in different directions; left, right and straight down.  This will help to flatten it out and works for both a full fringe and side swept bangs.  Avoid loading your fringe with product before styling as this will make it go greasy and not keep its style. Although it’s tempting, avoid touching your fringe! This only leads to a limp fringe that becomes unmanageable. This is especially important if you’re trying to train your fringe. Remember that it will take some time for your fringe to “learn” where you want it to sit, so be patient and avoid pushing it back. If you still want a bit of volume in your fringe, only iron the ends. If you want your fringe to to sit flat you can run your flat iron through it lightly from the root all the way to the ends. Remember to use a heat protecting spray anytime…

5 Easy, Every Day Things You Should Know About Your Hair, But Probably Don’t

5 Easy, Every Day Things You Should Know About Your Hair, But Probably Don’t

We all make common mistakes with looking after our hair. So I asked my hair stylist, Louise from Zephyr Hair Design to give me five easy, everyday tips that would ensure fabulous, healthy hair. 1. Use the Correct Products For Your Hair If your hair tends to get oily, make sure you are using the correct shampoo for your hair type. Shampoos with too much silicone can make matters worse. If you are using a dandruff shampoo, make sure you seek professional advice, as many dandruff shampoos tend to fade your hair colour. 2. Shampoo Properly When shampooing your hair, instead of applying product directly onto your scalp, rather pour a bit of shampoo into the palms of your hands. Using light movements, work the product into your hair with your palms. Rubbing the product in vigorously activates your subcutaneous glands, which causes your glands to produce more oil. After you’ve shampooed and conditioned your hair, give your hair a quick rinse with cold water for added shine! 3. Combing! When combing wet hair, use a wide-tooth comb. Always comb your hair from the bottom up, starting at your ends and finishing off at the root. This will allow you to loosen any knots in between. Never…

I’ve recently gotten into teasing my hair and I can tell you that having the right tools to do the the tease makes it so much easier! Not to mention the wrong brushes, and the wrong technique can leave you almost hairless! Quite the opposite of what you’re trying to achieve in the first place isn’t it?
