My summer shopping

After reading Manolo Mom’s column on Wednesday, I decided that I needed to get myself some beautiful summer dresses.  It’s quite sad really, the fact that I only own two day dresses! What kind of girl am I?

I must say, I was most impressed with the gorgeous dresses on offer, and the very different styles that you can choose from…

This one is from Truworths. It’s a really pretty dress and in such vibrant and exotic colours. I love it! It fits really well and makes me feel very girly. But I think what sold me was the gorgeous, studded detail on the shoulder. All I need now is to find that studded belt I have been hunting for and this would make an ideal floral-rock-chick dress, dont’ you think?

Next up, Edgars. I’ve always thought Edgars clothes were pretty average. I mean, I like them, but their stuff was never really very different. Nowadays, I find myself buying more and more from Edgars because they have really upped their game when it comes to fashion, and with a nice price tag too.

This dress, part of their Icons of fashion range, reminds me of a classic 1960’s a-line dress and even has the big fabric button detail.  It doesn’t look like much at first, but when you put it on, it’s a whole different ball game.  It flatters just about everything and makes you feel like slipping on a pair of classic, sexy heels like my Steve Madden’s, and finishing it off  with  a chic Chanel Chain purse (that I have yet to acquire).

My last stop was Mr Price where I was pleasantly surprised at the vibrant variety of dresses available and, for under 100 bucks – bonus!

This dress is so funky and reminds me of those 80’s neon stickers that were so trendy on cars.  Yes, the ones that make us cringe now, as we remember our aunties car covered in splat attack. But this dress is still quite cute and vibrant and also has a great fit. There is a wrap around tie at the back and the whole dress embraces the 80’s pop culture in a fun way. I even think cutting it a little shorter (actually a lot shorter) and wearing it as a long top over a pair of wet look leggings and my sexy Aldo boot/sandal cut outs would work.
