We All Scream For Sun Screen

When the sun comes out to play, make sure you’re protected!

Every year, loads of new sunscreens are launched, so there is no excuse to go bare and damage your skin.

I got to try out a few new products from three fabulous brands of sun-care.

So if you’re in the market for a new sunscreen for your beach holiday or pool time this summer season, be sure to check these out.

Vichy make great skin care! They are one of my all time fave sun protection brands (even though they do a whole skincare range too – their sun-care is always tops in my book).

For 2015, they’ve re-branded the Capital Soleil range, which is now called Vichy Ideal Soleil Bronze and I got to sample the Ideal Soleil SPF 50 Body Spray (R295 for 200ml). It contains highly effective UVA and UVB as well as Long-Wave UVA filters that protect your skin while keeping it beautiful!

With a combination of Tyrosine and Caffeine, these two active ingredients act as pro-pigmenting agents in two different ways. Tyrosine boosts the production of melanin so you tan beautifully, while caffeine inhibits phosphodiesterase, which stops melanogenesis from occurring properly.

Also, with the SPF body spray comes a major packing innovation that not only looks super slick and cool, and but you’ll never risk your lid coming off. The on-off system ensures that not a single drop is wasted – which means no leaky sunscreens in your beach bag! YAY!

Also in 2015, VICHY introduces their beautiful Ideal Soleil Oil SPF 20 (R260 for 200ml).

If you’re looking for some protection, while glistening like a Greek Goddess, you will love this product. It smells incredibly indulgent and has the most beautiful texture, that melts into the skin ensuring a non greasy application.

This product is intended for short periods in the sun only, so use it wisely! If you’re planning more time out in the sun, remember to re-apply (as it is not water-resistant) and apply again before and after splashing around.

Eau Thermale Avène SPF 50 Spray

If you’re planning on spending a few hours in the sun, always opt for a high protection sunscreen. The Avène Very High SPF 50 Protection Spray (R295.95 for 200ml) is easy to apply and ideal for sensitive skin.

It contains zero parabens, its fragrance free, hypoallergenic and water resistant, plus it promises “no white streaks” and it delivers!

It comes in a spray bottle making it super easy to apply and the new texture melts into your skin for protection that lasts!

Eau Thermale Avène Emulsion SPF 50 For Face

For the face, if you have normal to combination or sensitive skin you may want to give Avène SPF 50 Emulsion a try (R229.95 for 50ml).

Free from parabens and fragrance, this streak-less face sun screen is water resistant, hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic. It’s also dry to the touch, making it a perfect sunscreen whether you’re splashing around or looking for something to wear every day under your makeup that wont add more noticeable layers.

It comes in a pump applicator and is ideal for light and fair skins that are prone to sunburn, or normal skin that’s exposed to intense sunlight conditions.

Lipidol Suntan Oil SPF 20

From the makers of Bio-Oil comes a whole range of new oils, including this, Lipidol Suntan Oil SPF 20 (R79.95 for 125ml).

This beautiful oil absorbs quickly into the skin, soaking in protection from the sun, while leaving your skin healthy and naturally glowing!

The whole concept of this oil is to re-boost the skin’s natural oily layer, which is stripped away by the sun, wind and water.

It’s got UVA/UVB filters, but remember to apply it often as it’s not water resistant and since it has a fairly low SPF factor, it’s best to apply it every couple of hours you spend in the sun.

I love how my skin just soaks it up leaving no greasy residue, and the fresh, natural scent makes it suitable for guys too!
