The Essie Fall Collection

Is it just me, or is Essie Polish friggin amazing? Their latest fall collection is absolutely beautiful! There’s a shade for every Autumn mood, and a nail colour to compliment the season and make you feel all warm and cozy, just by looking at your nails. I’ll admit, two of the shades didn’t “blow me away” at first, as in I didn’t find them very “wow” and different, but the more I’m wearing one of them, the more I’m really starting to like it.

If you watched my debut Youtube Video (and before you say it, I know, I need to record a second one, soon) I mentioned this collection, and that four of the six shades were show stoppers for me. Not that the two other shades were bad, not at all, it’s just they didn’t really blow me away ya know?!

Maybe it’s because I just have way too much nail polish. Who knows?

But four of the shades, I LOVE and although I do have quite an impressive collection of nail polish if I do say so myself (I blame it on one part hoarder, one part nail polish addict), these four are so very different to anything I own, and really great colours…

My favourite shade is In the Lobby, a gorgeous concoction of maroon, burgundy and purple! It reminds me a little bit of my fave Essie shade, “Wicked”, because it’s got that same deep dark blacky-red intensity going on. Wicked is more reddish brown, whereas In the Lobby is more marooney-purple. The first coat is ok, but once you apply the second coat the colour is gaah-orgeous!

Another gorgeous, very different shade that completely stole my heart was Frock ‘N Roll. It’s a beautiful metallic grey with a hint of purple that goes unnoticed on the nails, but adds a beautiful depth and intensity to the colour.

If you’re into dark colours but want to avoid black, then check this one out. I wore it on my nails during my video and you want to see it in action, check it out on my instagram feed.

It also looks pretty light in my picture above, but trust me, when this colour goes on your nails it’s as intense as can be! It reminds me of those dark, gun metal grey cars in terms of the colour – you know the ones that look almost black, but when you look closely you can see the sparkle? Beautiful!

Bell-Bottom Blues is a mesmerising, metallic navy with the slightest hint of teal shimmers. It’s a metallic shade, yet much like Frock ‘N Roll, it has beautiful shimmers that look dazzling when you’re up close. See it in action on this pic on my Instagram.

Leggy Legend is a unique and truly, show stopping bronze with gold and red shimmers that really is the perfect Autumn shade. If I could bottle Autumn, I think this is exactly the shade I’d choose. Look how perfectly it matches all the colours in the autumn leaves.

I don’t think this colour is for everyone though, so I would definitely try it on before you buy it. On my olive skin tone it looks amazing, but a fellow beauty gal, with pinky undertones told me she didn’t like how it looked on her skin tone. You can see a hint of how it looks on my skintone on this pic on instagram.

With the Band (left) and Coral Binge (right) are the last two shades from the collection, and while not exciting for me, they are still great colours if you don’t own something similar already.

With The Band has really kinda grown on me! The more I wear it, the more I like it and it’s a lovely deep and dirty red. It reminds me a lot of Chanel Dragon, just a little more rusty.

Coral Binge is a super bright coral, making it an unexpected colour for moody winter, but a nice colour none the less. It’s not super unique, but if you’re into really stand out nails that pop and look like gel, I reckon you’ll love this shade.

So what do you gals think? Any shades have you feeling excited about the cold?
