Smells Like Christmas

Oh la la, it’s December and ya know what that means… CHRISTMAS TIME is here! I love Christmas, especially the smell of Christmas…. Gingerbread cookies baking in the oven, the smell of pine trees and eggnog!

The only problem is well, we live in South Africa! So, Christmas smells for us usually lean toward braaied meat and HTH. Not very Christmassy if you ask me. HAHA!

But fear not. If you yearn for a true Christmas smell, I’ve rounded up a few goodies you can get to fake that Christmas smell and make your home smell amazing for the holidays…

Check out these favourite Festive smells

how to make your home smell like christmas

Diptique Pine Tree of Light Candle

Oh my gosh guys, this candle is everything! I sniffed it the other day at Edgars and was instantly transported to pine tree heaven!

It smells like Christmas; a green, gorgeous Christmas as if you’re walking among the fir trees and cedars.

I love the design of this one as much as I do the scent, and if you’ve got moolah to spend or your nose dominates your pocket, then you’ll love the Diptique Holiday Collection candles.

In the collection are three gorgeous festive scents, including; Pine Tree of Light, Exquisite Almond and Amber Balm.

I was totally smitten by the smell, I did’nt get chance to take down the prices of these candles at Edgars, but I remember the medium sized candle was just shy of R1000.

Crabtree & Evelyn Noël Room Spray

Another gorgeous, fresh and festive scent is Crabtree & Evelyn’s Noël home fragrance collection for the holidays.

Spritz your home with this gorgeous Room Spray and transport yourself to admiring the Christmas tree in front of a crackling fire place, while the scent of spices mulling wafts through the air.

This year Crabtree & Evelyn’s iconic Noël home fragrance collection gets a groovy limited edition look with the 2018 design channeling the infamous 70’s Carnaby Street Vibe.

The collection features the festive 200g Noël Poured Candle (R400 – R950), 100ml Noël Room Spray (R450) and the 200ml Noël Reed Diffuser (R1650). If you want it all, you can get the Psychedelic Scents Home Fragrance Set which includes a 200ml Diffuser, 100ml Room Spray and a 67g mini candle (R3300).

ZARA Home Gingerbread Diffuser

Yum, Yum, Yum! The Gingerbread holiday collection at Zara Home this year is amazing! No, actually the word I’m looking for is delicious! Good enough to eat (but please don’t eat it haha)!

This collection is beautifully packed in traditional holiday red with a candy cane effect and will add not only a festive scent to your home, but give your decor those festive feels too.

Included in this collection is the Gingerbread diffuser sticks (R369 –  R899), Gingerbread Home Spray (R289), Gingerbread Fabric Spray (R239), Gingerbread Aromatic Candle (R439), Gingerbread Scented Cards (R239) and the Gingerbread Incense (R8990)

Jo Malone White Moss & Snowdrop

One of my favourite luxury scented candles is of course, from Jo Malone! These candles last and last and last! I’ve still got mine from the 2011 David Hicks Collection. Every now and then, when I feel fancy I burn it and I’m always surprised that even seven years down the line, the scent is still strong and magnificent!

Every holiday season, Jo Malone launches their limited edition holiday scent, this year’s holiday fragrance collection being White Moss & Snowdrop.

Imagine snowdrop petals peeking through powdering snow. The warming smell of golden amber and luminous cardamom, the scent of winter wonderment, captured in a candle…

If you want not only your home, but yourself to smell like Christmas, the White Moss & Snowdrop Cologne is also available.

Greenleaf HOPE Home Fragrance Oil

One of my all time favourite scents for the holidays is from Greenleaf’s home fragrance oils, and more specifically the HOPE range.

It smells like freshly baked cinnamon cookies. Warm, indulgent and sweet but with a wonderful mix of spices that gives it that delicious aroma.

I burn this scent in my home quite a lot actually, but for Christmas time it makes the perfect scent for your oil burner.
