Star Beauty: Dewy Skin

Star Beauty: Dewy Skin

Dewy skin is all about gorgeous, glowing skin that is flawless and natural. It is great for daytime and is perfect for a fresh, fuss free look. You can achieve the Dewy look by combining good skin care (your number one beauty secret) with a handful of useful products.  Remember, when going for the dewy look to keep you makeup minimal – use foundation or tinted moisturiser to even out your skin tone, add a bit of blush, a natural gloss and a slick of brown (or black mascara) to finish it off. Here are some of my fresh-faced favourites: 1. The new range of Colour Riche celeb-signature lipsticks from Loreal Paris are Divine.  Look out for Eva Longoria’s Star Secret colour in Caramel.  It enhances your natural colour, looks beautiful and has the most delicious smell. 2. For natural lip colour that is simple yet effective, check out Giffarine Glamorous Lip Colour in LG08. 3.  For a perfect, dewy look, use foundation that blends in with you natural skin tone.  Check out Revlon Beyond Natural Skin Matching Makeup.  It starts out white and blends to your skin’s own colour – Genius! 4.  Minimise pores and get porcelain skin with…

Star Review: The best mascaras

Star Review: The best mascaras

The number of mascaras is overwhelming and it can be quite difficult when it comes to choosing your perfect one.  You get mascaras that condition, extend, thicken, darken, volumise, curl and more.  But the one you choose, depends ultimately, on what effect you’re after. I recently had the fabulous task of testing out 15 different mascaras, from various brands including Rimmel London, Clinique, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, Almay and Elizabeth Arden.  I tried them all out to bring you the ultimate mascara review.  I tested them based on their claim and my verdict after trying each one out… Here is what I found, be sure to scroll down to the end and click on my link for my top 5 choices from this review.

Star Beauty – Avoid the make up meltdown

Star Beauty – Avoid the make up meltdown

There’s nothing worse than a makeup meltdown.  When it happens at a club, its not too bad, because you can dash to the little girls room and fix it up, plus everyone around you is too busy having a good time to notice.  But, when it happens during the day, and with this heat it’s very possible, it can be very embarrassing.  Besides a girl always looks flawless, so a makeup meltdown is not an option. Primers, pre-makeup products and stay-on solutions have been around for some time, but are really earning their stars now.  The cleanse-tone-moisturise ritual has been replaced with cleanse-tone-moisturise-prime before foundation and makeup application. No more cake face Foundation that flakes or looks like it’s been caked-on stands out – and although you think people don’t notice it, they do!  First and foremost, follow  a good skincare regime and take care of your skin (with or without makeup).  Invest in good quality moisturizer from a trusted skincare range.  There are many out there, and I love using Clinique, Clarins, Bobbi Brown and for a less expensive option Nivea is also great.

Star Beauty – Brow-Vo

Star Beauty – Brow-Vo

Taking care of your eye brows is very important.  Not only because they are focal features on your face, but they really do make a difference to how you look.  If your eyebrows are faded, they can make your forehead appear bigger, and your eyes out of proportion.  However, shaped brows give you more contours and enhance your eyes.  Untidy or very bushy brows are also a huge no-no, keep them neat and tidy.  If you can’t do it yourself, go for a professional brow shape and see the difference.  For some advice on how to shape them properly, check out this page on StyleScoop. Here are some great products I found that deserve a standing ovation for eyebrow grooming, shaping and enhancing. 1.  Brow Zings from Benefit is a complete brow kit containing everything you need to perfect those brows.  Included in the kit: pigmented wax, natural-shaded powder, tweezers, hand angle brush, blending brush and mirror. 2.  Clinique Brow Shaper contains a fine pressed powder and application brush to fill in and perfect your brows. 3.  High Brow from Benefit is the ultimate brow lifting pencil.  The linen-pink shade allows you to create a highlight on your brow bone,…

Fab Find Friday – Justin Case

Fab Find Friday – Justin Case

Haven’t you ever wished you could size down all your must have cosmetics, so that you can keep them with you just in case? With party season just around the corner, I found the perfect handbag-must-have, from none other than one of the most innovative cosmetics companies – Benefit. Justin Case is a really cool, all-you-need compact, that holds miniature versions of the absolute necessities,  every girl needs to carry in her bag.  Inside you’ll find a miniature Calafornia Kissn – the gloss that brightens your smile and gives you minty-fresh breath.  You’ll also find Benefits infamous Benetint potion, which can be used as a rose-tinted lipstick or cheek stain.  The kit also contains a miniature version of Eyecon – a brightening eye cream to help your eyes stay fresh and vibrant and reduce dark circles. And last, but not least Justin Case contains Some Kind A-Gorgeous the “fake it don’t cake it” foundation faker, so that you can touch up after a night on the dance floor.  After all, no girl wants to leave the club looking like Frankenstein or Marilyn Manson, suffering with a makeup meltdown. In addition,
