Star Beauty – Bright eyed things

Your eyes are the windows to your soul and also the most prominent (and most noticed) feature.  Having dull, tired eyes shows up instantly on your face.  Thankfully though, there are a few makeup tricks you can follow, and I’ve got the perfect products to help you get bolder, brighter eyes that look el’ natural.

Light up those eyes with these fab finds….

Learn how to use these products for the boldest, brightest eyes in 5 simple steps …

1.  Prime your lids, ready for shadow and hide dark areas and imperfections with Almay BrightEyes Eye Base and Concealer.  This new formula, using a unique blend of marine extracts, white tea and peptides, instantly brightens the eyes, while giving them a fresher look.

How to apply: This is step one in Almay’s three steps to bright eyes.  Dot concealer under the eyes, as well as on the lids and blend in by patting with your finger tips.

Recommended Retail Price: R120.00

2.  Give your eyes an instant lift and reduce the appearance of dark circles with Bobbi Brown Tinted Eye Brightener.  This magic formula, containing Hops Extract, Licorice Extract and Vitamin C, is your secret to brighter, more glowing eyes, that give your face a flawless finish.

How to apply: Smooth a small amount under the eye using a concealer brush and blend by patting gently with your middle finger. Use on it its own or together with your concealer, for a more polished look.

Recommended Retail Price: R290.00

3.  Brighten and accentuate eyes with Almay BrightEyes Eye Shadow which comes in two complimenting shades.  The cream-to-powder formula provides a light weight, natural looking shade for instant, natural beauty.

How to apply: Use your finger to apply the darker shade on the lid, starting with the lash-line all the way to the crease.  Apply the lighter shade from the crease to the brow.

Recommended Retail Price: R120.00

4. Add sparkle and highlight your eyes with Benefit Miss Popularity, a soft white, shimmering highlighter. This is a great product for all over face highlighting and can also be used to perk up your smile, “slimify” your nose and enhance your cleavage.

How to apply: Apply a “triangle” over the eyes by dotting on the outer corners of the eye and centre point of your brow bone and blend, starting with the inner corner and going outwards.

Recommended Retail Price: R250.00

5.  Finish off your bright eyed look with Benefit High Brow.  This product highlights and lifts your brow using a stroke of “pink genius”.

How to use: Apply pencil under your brow following the arch. Lightly blend. For more arched brow, put two dots above the arch & blend.

Recommended Retail Price: R215.00

Ed Says: This five step routine will leave your eyes looking brighter and beautiful and creates the perfect “fuss free” look.  To complete the “no makeup look”, I use these products:

1) Get your skin moisturised, while at the same time giving you an evened out tone with Dior HydraAction Skin Tint.

2) I like to use Benefit That Gal after I’ve put on my moisturiser to give my skin a nice, “fresh” glow.

3) Finish your eyes with two coats of Estee Lauder‘s fabulous new mascara, Sumptous in Brown.

4) Add some colour to your lips with Revlon Beyond Natural protective Lip Tint in Nude
