Love Your Lips This Winter! My Top 6 Lip Balms & Treats

Love Your Lips This Winter! My Top 6 Lip Balms & Treats

Let’s talk about lips for a moment… Most girls I know are always on the look out for the perfect shade of lipstick. Yet, very few actually give their lips the proper love and care that they deserve. So today, I thought I’d give you a quick insight into some of my favourite lip balms and treatments for winter. Some of these products have been long time faves, with some new ones getting my nod of approval. Either way, these are my go to lip protecting products of the moment. Zam-Buk Original Let’s start with my favourite of the lot! The Real Makoya! Zam-buk (the green one, not featured in the image above)! I’ve been using Zam-Buk original for years and it has never failed me. Not only is it an amazing lip product, but a great little goodie to carry in your handbag for emergency stings and burns. It’s such a miracle worker, that when my dad got stung by something on the beach in Greece, some old lady came running up to him, with her tin of Zam-Buk that she got from a cousin of a cousin’s cousin in “Afriki” (Africa). I use a teeny tiny bit, as too much leaves a film on my…

Travel Light with Palmers This Holiday Season

Travel Light with Palmers This Holiday Season

This holiday season, Palmer’s have made it easier for you to travel light, by introducing their amazing products in travel-sized options. The travel-sized products look almost identical to the full sized product, only a miniature, more compact version. I absolutely love this, and the fact that you can pop it into your travel makeup bag and take up virtually no extra space, only makes it that much better. Travel sized Palmer’s are available at Dis-Chem stores nationwide and you can enjoy a smaller, sweeter tub of Palmer’s Coco Butter Formula (30g – R15.50), or one of their 50ml cream options in either Olive Butter Formula, the Original Coco Butter Formula or Coco Butter Formula for men, for only R10 each.

Paraben Free Palmer’s

Paraben Free Palmer’s

I’m so happy, one of my fave moisturiser brands, Palmer’s with their famous Cocoa Butter Formula, have recently announced that their range is now proudly Paraben and Phthalate Free! Without going into too much detail and boring you with a Biology lesson, Parabens are chemicals that are used as preservatives in millions of beauty products; from shampoos to toothpastes, body lotions to makeup. While there have been many arguments surrounding parabens and their link to cancer – some studies say they are dangerous, others say they are not – I’d rather play it safe and avoid these wherever I can. Wouldn’t you? If you love Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula, you’ll also love their Stretch Mark Range, formulated with Bio C-Elaste, a safe and unique complex that helps to improve the skin’s elasticity , adding moisture back into the skin which could help reduce the possibility of developing stretch marks. Palmer’s Coco Butter Formula Stretch Mark range includes: Palmer’s Stretch Mark Lotion (250ml) for R47.50 Palmers Stretch Mark Cream (125g) for R47.50 Palmer’s Tummy Butter (125g) for R47.50 Palmer’s is available from Dis-Chem and Clicks stores nationwide.

The Lazy Girls Guide to a Fit Body

The Lazy Girls Guide to a Fit Body

Staying in shape is hard, especially in winter when all you want to do is stay indoors and drink hot chocolate. And while we highly recommend at least 30 minutes of daily activity, we know some days you just want to be lazy. We get it, we all have those moments. So, to help you enjoy the odd lazy day, we’ve put together this handy little guide to help your body stay fit and looking fab with only three products. Lets begin… Use Nivea Good-Bye Cellulite gel-cream after you shower or bath on your thighs, buttocks and stomach. It will help to tone your skin and help minimise the appearance of cellulite. The formula combines Lotus Extract and L-Carnitine which are both cellulite busing ingredients. The formula is non greasy, smells pretty awesome and absorbs instantly. Mix a drop of Clarins Body Shaping Supplement to your daily moisturizer. It will help to block the formation of new adipocytes (fat cells) and tone the skin, slow down fat storage and increase blood circulation. Use Palmer’s Massage Lotion For Stretch Marks. It helps to improve the appearance of stretch marks while lubricating the skin, allowing it to retain it’s natural elasticity and…

Autumn Skin 101 – Exfoliators & Scrubs

Autumn Skin 101 – Exfoliators & Scrubs

New Kids on the Block It’s amazing how far skincare has come in recent years. Remember those Golden Oldie exfoliators that had all sorts of scrubs, beads and granules  to help with the exfoliating process and to remove dead skin cells? Well there is a whole new breed of exfoliators out there. Some of the new types of exfoliators, or as I like to call them “New kids on the block” are so smooth you wouldn’t even consider them as exfoliators. But they do a great job at getting rid of dead skin cells.     Clarins Gentle Peeling Smooth Away Cream is a granule free exfoliator that works wonders to give your skin a fresh, smooth and “new skin” look. Apply a thin layer, leave on for one minute and remove it with light sweeping movements. I love how this product gives the feeling that you’re “pulling off” your old skin to reveal a fresh, new complexion. There is a technique to removing it, so don’t worry about damaging your skin. Nimue Exfoliating Enzyme. Every time I use Nimue, I can’t believe its a local product! It’s amazing (and looks super chic too). The Exfoliating Enzyme combines Papaya and…

Flirty, Fabulous Lippies for Glossy Lips

Flirty, Fabulous Lippies for Glossy Lips

If you’re not into lipstick but still want to get glossy lips this Valentines day then check out our top lippies – perfect for any occasion… Labello Glamorous Gloss in Red Ruby gives your lips and irresistible shine with a soft feeling. I’m not big on red, but this gloss gives the lips just enough red without making them too bold. Give it a try, you’ll love it. For extreme shine, I absolutely heart Rimmel Vinyl Gloss in Keep A Secret. It’s pretty and pouty. Now I know this is technically a lip stick but Yardley Longwear Lips in Strawberry Daiquiri is the prefect primer for your bold lips. On it’s own the colour is rich and intense – just like a delicious daiquiri cocktail – for a slightly less bold effect, pat a little on and cover with a slick gloss like Nutriwomen Lip Lustre (4) and you’ll get those oh-so-sexy perky lips. Nutriwomen Lip Lustre gives your lips a clear sheen of gloss while it protects and nourishes them. The plumping formula glosses and conditions the lips, reducing wrinkle lines around the lip. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Liquid Lipstick in Grand Garnet gives your lips long lasting colour with…

Beauty Scoop – Get Lippy

Spring has sprung! The “sun is shinning, weather is sweet – make you wanna move your dancing feet” but how about your lips? If you’re like me, you probably have more than one favourite lip gloss to help perk up your lips. In today’s Beauty Scoop, I’ll give you my four faves for the handbag, the gym bag, the clutch purse and the office desk drawer… The handbag essential One of my new found favourite, easy to apply glosses is Clarins Eclat Minute Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. It lives in my handbag 24/7 and I use it every time I need a ‘lil lip service to instantly freshen up my lips. The formula is long lasting without being too glossy, so perfect for day wear. The clutch purse essential This little gloss is perfect for your teeny-tiny clutch purse and in fact, it’s the only thing you need to keep in your clutch purse. Labello Glamourous Gloss in Pink Sugar makes lips feel silky smooth and glossy. It’s got it’s own colour so you don’t even need to apply lipstick first. The gym bag essential Going to gym doesn’t give you a reason to look drab and dull –…
