The Essie “Icon Shades”

Let’s talk for a moment, about iconic nail polish!

What springs to mind?… Essie!

If you were thinking more along the lines of colour, what shades came up?

Red, black, pastel pink, white?

Well, you’d be right!

I got to play around with some of these iconic colours from Essie and love, love, love!

Who doesn’t love a black nail?

My best is black nails, well kept, that are a just long enough to extend slightly past your nail bed.

Black long nails for me are a no-no, unless of course, you’re doing some crazy nail art design. In 1982, Essie became a big hit in Japan.

The colour, “Licorice” was created for the Asian market, where highly embellished nail styles were already in fashion.

This red, “Really Red” is a really, really, really red.

It’s solid and bright and if you’re into reds, you have to have this one in your collection.

Pink polish is every girl’s BFF and looks good with just about anything.

The pastel pink shade “Ballet Slippers” is a colour that was developed in 1989 for, wait for it… her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth.

Apparently her hairdresser sent Essie a letter requesting this shade for the queen and it is the only colour she will wear!

As with pastel pink, white nails can look oh so chic!

I mean white as in pretty white, not tipex white!

This shade from Essie, “Marshmallow” is pretty and another must have shade.

Which is your fave? Do you remember your first Essie nail polish? Mine was Fiji!
