Glammed and Fabbed at the GHD StyleLounge – Durban

On Friday last week, I was invited to attend the Durban event of the GHD Style Lounge with my friend Rhona. The event was held at *Max* Institute of Fashion Art at Gateway.  The venue had been transformed into a GHD pop up salon, and with its full-on fashion ramp, could not have been more fitting.

Our “pamper session” started the minute we walked in. We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and let loose among the fabulous spread of mouth watering treats – my favourite was the chocolate fountain with strawberries and marshmallows, which I had to resist with force.

The venue buzzed with stylists and fashionista’s alike and former Miss South Africa, Megan Coleman was there too.  All the girls looked fabulous with their hair and makeup, trotting around with glasses of champagne, chatting at the bar or enjoying the treats.  We started with “Mane’s” – Our hair was fabbed and styled with GHD hot irons and GHD products, specific to our hair’s individual needs.  Tracy did a great job of giving me loose, sexy curls – In addition we were also treated to a goodie bag filled with GHD hair products, to keep up the styling up at home.

After Mane’s‘ we moved over to makeup.  Jacqui kept my make up minimal, but still very natural, while Rhona got her beautiful blue eyes enhanced by her makeup artist, Kendra.  She was so blown away by her transformation, and for a girl who doesn’t wear much make up – she looked hot. So hot in fact, that she got a flirty hint from a certain “someone” at the venue.

Glammed and fabbed, we moved over to the Newton Inspired photo booth, where a camera had been set up.  A strategically placed mirror allowed us to practice our poses, or in my case, my pout, before shooting our own pics with a remote control.

The idea of being in front, rather than behind the lens was a little scary at first.  But after a few takes in our faux-fur and leopard print accessories, the shoot was so much fun, we went back for a second helping of flash.

All good things must come to an end unfortunately, but both Rhona and I had a really great time, and would like to thank Lauren and Luanne from Atmosphere, Janlyn from GHD as well as our stylists Tracy, Jacqui, Kendra and Leslie (we think), for making us feel like rock stars!

Check out the gallery below and keep an eye on the official GHD website for more photos from the GHD Style Lounges from around the country.  Oh, and If you’re in Cape Town, 16 gals still stand a chance to get invited to this fabulous event with four of your friends.  Visit www.ghdstylelounge.co.za and register before the 5th December 2008.

Sounds like absolute blast! I agree with Eve, how did you resist the chocolate fountain? You must have iron willpower!

I know! I must say I was impressed with myself hehe – well when you’re surrounded by girls looking fab and perfect, the last thing you want to do is stuff your face with chocolate 🙂
