In a couple of days we’ll be welcoming Spring back and I’m sure with open arms. What we may want to avoid are those “shock-horror” white bodies that have been deprived of sunlight, unless of course you were vacationing in Mauritius. Thankfully though, you don’t need the sun to get a gorgeous summer glow and today I have the inside scoop from MODELco’s Roan Pinnoy on getting the perfect tan.
MODELco has a full range of tanning products; from self tanners to tan extenders and even tan removers! I was lucky enough to try some of these products myself and can honestly say that they are my absolute favourite sunless tanning products. They are easy to apply, I love the bronzed, natural colouring they produce and the shimmer, but best of all they don’t leave that horrible “self-tanner” smell.
Roan sent us his top tanning tips to help you get the perfect summer tan. His favourite two products are Tan in a Can and SunSponge because “both give fantastic natural results, so there is no sign that the tan is faux”.
As for me, my personal favourite is the Body Meringue Glow Mousse. Unlike other self tanners, this one is instant and then builds into a gradual tan after few hours. I applied it with my hands and it washed off easily, so I didnt have “self tan paws”.
Roan says the sucess to an even tan lies in the application of the product because “practice makes the perfect tan”.
Here’s Roans tips on how you can get the prefect tan with ModelCo:
For best results, with any “tan” product exfoliate your skin prior to use. Apply ModelCo TAN within ½ hour after showering as the skin has a PH level of between 4 & 5 and the TAN will last even longer.
If you are using Tan in a Can cover the floor area where you intend to spray. Hold can approximately 40 cm away from body and spray fine mist evenly over desired areas. Do not overspray as this may cause TAN to run. Allow at least 10 minutes to dry before dressing and wait four hours before washing. Reapply as required for deeper colour.
For best results with SunSponge: Use Modelco REMOVER EXFOLIATING SCRUB prior to use for a smooth, even application. Do not moisturize before applying SunSponge. Apply within 1 hour of showering to clean skin. Tanning should always be done in front of a mirror to ensure an even application. Use long even strokes with the upper part of the sponge to blend. Use the built in bronzer as a guide to ensure a streak-free application. As you work the self-tan solution into your skin, the sponge will begin to dry, therefore doubling as a buffing cloth. To avoid an uneven tan, apply to one area at a time.
Once liquid is perfectly blended into one area of the body, move onto the next area, gently pressing the lower part of the sponge once to release more liquid and repeating the above process. Formula can be layered to reach desired intensity. Remember, practice makes perfect and use sparingly on knees, ankles and elbows, only lightly feathering when the sponge applicator is near dry.
