Insta-Scoop! Skincare, Favourite Foundations, South African Style and more… My Week in Instagrams

I caught a glimpse of this beautiful beaded tree by the Hillcrest Aids Centre Trust! Such a great project to raise awareness for HIV and Aids, and it adds a bit of prettiness to the pavement. I love graphic tee’s and Mr Price has some amazing ones on offer right now, in collaboration with Henry Holland. Love the typo on this one “No one’s gonna get hurt, it’s only a t-shirt!” Find out more about the Mr Price Henry Holland collection and see more tee’s on this post. Love this coffee table book by South African Photographer, Ed Suter! Spotted at Mr Price Home, SHARP SHARP South Africa Street Style is a gorgeous illustrated collection of what makes South African Street Style unique and distinctive. A great coffee table must have! SUMMERTIME! Beautiful summer time treat box from Woolworths, filled with loads of fun, trendy items for summer! Read about what I got inside the box in today’s scoop! Best Beauty Blogs

Best Beauty Blogs

I’m honoured to be featured in the November issue of Fairlady Magazine, as one of SA’s Best Beauty Blogs, together with fellow beauty bloggers, Victoria Tatham from Kiss Blush and Tell and Emmy Schofield from Rouge Beauty. Every year, Fairlady magazine runs their Best of Beauty Awards, giving praise to the best beauty products on the market. This year was the first time they included Beauty Blogs as one of their categories. A big well done to Victoria who took home the first ever award in this category, while Emmy and myself were named finalists. I have had the pleasure of meeting both these fabulous ladies at beauty events and am really glad to share a page with them in Fairlady. The judges for this year’s Best of Beauty included the FAIRLADY beauty team (Candice-Lee Kannemeyer, Kelli Clifton, Catherine Zachariou), TV personality Jeannie D, Idols judge Randall Abrahams, as well as FAIRLADY editor Suzy Brokensha, Dermatologist Dr. Dagmar Whitaker, Makeup Artist Linda O’Connell and David Gillson, director of Carlton Hair. Be sure to get the latest copy of Fairlady Magazine to read what the three of us had to say about our blogs. You can also see all the product winners and finalists for the 2012…

These sunglasses have been around since 1937 and seen on the faces of millions around the world. They symbolize a unique, inimitable lifestyle, and come in a wide range of models, each with distinctive design and attention to detail. Of course, I’m talking about Ray-Ban’s, the world’s most iconic sunglass brand. While there are many, many, many styles of Ray-ban sunglasses available, these eight styles are the “icons”. Ombre! Before and After

Ombre! Before and After

Ombre Hair is the biggest trend this season! A few weeks ago I posted about trying this style out on my hair, so here you go…. Hair by the fabulous and talented Louise at Zephyr Hair in Gillits – KZN. My hair colour before was a pretty light shade after multiple applications of highlights! As much as I loved the golden glow, with winter approaching I wanted to go darker but not too dark, so Ombre hair was the perfect fit for me. Louise working her magic! I do love the Ombre hair trend, but for my hair I didn’t want an in-your-face contrast between dark and light, so asked Louise to give it a more blended effect. She applied a darker shade over my roots into the middle of my lengths using Loreal 4.3 and leaving out the already lighter ends of my hair. After letting the colour set for 35 minutes, she ran a comb through my ends to blend the darker colour into the highlights, and then it was onto the basin for washing and rinsing. The finished look, Olé Ombre hair! I’m really loving this look and might get a bit braver next time and make it more in-your-face Ombre! If you’re a Durban girl give…

The Girl in the Red Skirt

The Girl in the Red Skirt

Right now I’m obsessed with Maxi Skirts – as if you didn’t already know! I’ve been hunting high and low to find one ever since I saw Serena (AKA Blake Lively) wearing her gorgeous red, Rag and Bone skirt in the latest season of Gossip Girl. After months of searching, I eventually found one; a gorgeous red, flowy full maxi skirt from local brand Junkyard Angel. For those of you that aren’t familiar with the name, Junkyard Angel’s clothes are beyond amazing! Designed and manufactured locally in SA and sold at certain YDE outlets. This piece is called The Blake Skirt – wonder if they named it after Ms Van Der Woodsen – and retails at R499. It is made from a beautiful flowing sheer fabric and red lining and has front pockets that make it even more amazing. The fit is great and really gives the same “flow” as Serena’s skirt. I wore mine the other day with a plain white fitted tank top and my my nude, super high wooden stack Luella heels, and got compliments all round. I love clothes that are well made, fit well and make you feel like a million bucks! I think I might…

I never thought I’d say this, ever, but I am seriously rocking my Crocs! Now I know what you’re thinking, Crocs? Seriously? Gone are the days of the plastic-not-so-fantastic Crocs clog! Crocs are actually starting to look pretty cool. They’ve introduced a whole wack of new styles, some of them in canvas and leather options! I have never owned a pair of Crocs before. For me, I didn’t care how comfortable the Croc Clogs were, there was no way I’d wear them. But now, since Crocs have introduced so many fab new styles (you can view them all here), I’m actually quite excited about Crocs. Besides them being totally cute, they are comfy, excellent quality and trendy too! Don’t believe me? Just check out these gorgeous Croc’s Winter Boots They come in black, brown (espresso) and white (oyster). While I’ve never been a fan of white shoe anything, a pair of plush booties like these in white actually look rather cute and oh so wintery! As I mentioned, these boots are super comfy and fabulous for a casual winter day. They cost R649.95 and are available online as well as at the following retailers nationwide: Crocs stores, selected Cape Union…
