I feel like it’s been ages since I spoke about shoes! I mean really, really spoke about shoes! A whole post dedicated to my favourite accessory on earth! I’ll admit my shoe-wearing days have become very casual of late, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still love a good pair! With winter fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about what goes on your feet. Rounding up 6 of the Best Winter Booties

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of tan, leather winter booties for some time, and I’m happy to say that that the hunt is finally over! I spotted some great winter boots, or rather booties at Edgars, Woolies, ZARA as well as Tread + Miller, before finally deciding on T-H-E a perfect pair from Dune London. If you’re on the lookout for some fab winter booties this season, I’ve rounded up all the booties that caught my eye and why.

New Season, New Boots | His & Hers

New Season, New Boots | His & Hers

Every year, as we approach winter, I always look at adding a new pair of quality boots to my collection. This season however, has been a tough one as there are three boots on my wishlist: (1) A great pair of comfy black ankle boots, (2) a beautiful pair of tan, slightly heeled ankle boots and (3) a pair of structured, high quality traditional riding boots.

Minnetonka’s Fringe Benefits! Bang on Trend!

Minnetonka’s Fringe Benefits! Bang on Trend!

The only trend you need to know about this Winter is Fringe! Fringe rocked the Autumn/ Winter 2015 runways! A trend that strongly favoured boho styling, where suede and fringe were the main influences. Luckily, the best ‘go to’ fringe resource, Minnetonka, is already on South African shores – with a beautiful selection of fringe detailed boots to satisfy every trend setter. If you don’t own a pair of Minnetonka’s, you have no idea what you’re missing! They are the comfiest boots in the history of the universe! I have two pairs. These (Hard Sole Knee Hi Boot: R1465.00) and the latest addition to my collection, the Double Fringe Tramper (R1199.00) which comes in dusty brown (like mine), brown and black. They have been my go-to shoe for the past week. Seriously, I have lived in them, and I just don’t want to take them off! In fact, I’m wearing them right now! All Minnetonka boots are made from the softest suede, that will keep your feet warm this winter. They come in a range of styles and colours, ensuring you have a pair of Minnetonka’s to match every outfit! Just take a look at some of the cool, cool…

Winter Boots – All The Trends, All The Brands at Edgars

Winter Boots – All The Trends, All The Brands at Edgars

Every winter I try to invest in at least one pair of boots! This year however, I’m having a bit of difficulty trying to decide, since there are many great options out there! Combat boots, Docs (yeah baby), Over-The-Knee, Ankle Boots… The styles are just endless! I might have to re-think my one-pair-a-year to at least two or three! I popped into Edgars the other day and was overwhelmed with the selection. No matter what your style or budget, if you’re looking for hot new boots this season, then make sure you check them out! The in house brands, Kelso and Free2BU have some great, inexpensive boots that are right on trend! I’m totally digging the Large Zip Combat Boots, and the trendy ox-blood options that are a hot trend for our winter season! Obsessed with these Jessica Simpson “Audrey” over-the-knee boots. There are a couple of colour options and I just can’t pick a favourite! Get them in brown, Tan, Black or Black with Faux Fur for R1999 each – All available exclusively at Edgars. Then there’s Vince! Love the suede and leather paneling on these Vince Camuto Kaliah” boots (R2499). The short wedge heel means I can trot around in these beauts all day long! They come in two colour…

3 Clever Ways to Store Your Boots This Winter

3 Clever Ways to Store Your Boots This Winter

Boots are one of the most annoying things to store in your closet. Some, especially soft leather ones (like my Tsonga Riding Boots), tend to flop, making them look really untidy and cluttered. But, don’t fear – I have found THREE really cool and easy ways to store boots and keep them looking neat and tidy. As you may know, I keep my boots stored like this (above), on the bottom shelf of my shoe shelf in my closet room. I like to have them displayed properly, without them flopping around. My Hunter Boots are the only pair that ‘stand on their own’. Every other pair has a little hidden trick to keep them upright… These tricks work wonderfully whether you keep your boots in your closet or displayed, and they are fairly inexpensive. In fact, two of the tricks you’d be able to accomplish without spending any “extra” money at all! Trick #1: Empty Wine Bottles This is such a cool trick and you’ve probably got empty bottles lying around. If not, well then this is a perfect excuse to celebrate finding a solution to your boot storage dilemma! Just make sure that the empty bottle is clean and that there aren’t any droplets of wine inside. I’ve used…

Ready For Combat! Military Boots You’ll Never Outgrow

Ready For Combat! Military Boots You’ll Never Outgrow

Military/ Combat boots; A trend I’ve been loving for some time now. It’s taken me a while to find the right pair, but all of a sudden, I have seen so, so many styles that I absolutely must have! Here are two styles that are currently on my radar, one of which I admit, I’ve already given myself as an early Birthday Present (shhhhh!) I spotted these beauts at Old Khaki and never thought I’d ever own a pair of “CATS”, but you should never say never I guess! I absolutely love them to bits. It’s not a style for everyone, but with the right outfit, they can look stylish and they do! They fit really well and are super comfy! Plus, I love the fabric pattern on the inside – makes them a little more girly. I plan on wearing them with dark blue skinny jeans and love them with denim cut off shorts! Mr Price has some really fabulous styles of shorts at the moment. The distressed look of these boots give them a very festival look and my favourite way of wearing them is loosely lased up. They are perfect as we head into winter. And if…

TREND REPORT: Riding Style

TREND REPORT: Riding Style

Next month, my hometown of Durban plays host to The Vodacom Durban July; one of Durban’s and SA Fashion’s hottest events! With all the hype leading to raceday, combined with a new found love for my riding boots (which I finally found after years of searching), this month’s Trend Report is all about being a stylish Equestrian. Now, as much as I love this style of dressing, I wouldn’t recommend wearing a riding-style outfit to The July – even though it would make more sense to trot around the grass laden race track in comfy flats and a jacket, instead of your sheer, backless couture designer gown and sky high heels – in winter! As for any other day, I definitely think this look rocks, even if you have no actual connection on the Mink and Manure belt. Here’s how to wear the trend… Riding Style Boots A true riding-style outfit requires a pair of fabulous flat riding boots! Riding boots are an investment and will almost always look stylish and on-trend, so it’s worth it to spend a little extra for a great quality pair that will last you a lifetime! Rocking my Crocs – The Crocband Winter Boot

Rocking my Crocs – The Crocband Winter Boot

I never thought I’d say this, ever, but I am seriously rocking my Crocs! Now I know what you’re thinking, Crocs? Seriously? Gone are the days of the plastic-not-so-fantastic Crocs clog! Crocs are actually starting to look pretty cool. They’ve introduced a whole wack of new styles, some of them in canvas and leather options! I have never owned a pair of Crocs before. For me, I didn’t care how comfortable the Croc Clogs were, there was no way I’d wear them. But now, since Crocs have introduced so many fab new styles (you can view them all here), I’m actually quite excited about Crocs. Besides them being totally cute, they are comfy, excellent quality and trendy too! Don’t believe me? Just check out these gorgeous Croc’s Winter Boots They come in black, brown (espresso) and white (oyster). While I’ve never been a fan of white shoe anything, a pair of plush booties like these in white actually look rather cute and oh so wintery! As I mentioned, these boots are super comfy and fabulous for a casual winter day. They cost R649.95 and are available online as well as at the following retailers nationwide: Crocs stores, selected Cape Union…

Somebody Call A Doctor…

Somebody Call A Doctor…

I think I’m getting a fever! Dr Martens… are back in! Doc’s are just one of those items that will keep coming back in fashion – kinda like bell bottoms, bad eighties hairstyles and plastic fantastic accessories. Makes me regret lending my pair of 10 ups (yes they were quite rare) to a “friend” who never returned them! Grrr! If you’re reading this, I want my friggin shoes back! I lived in my Doc’s – I seriously remember wearing them every single day for about two years solid, and they never came apart. I was so hooked on them that I bought another pair in oxblood – remember those? – despite them being two sizes too big. Needless to say I was young and stupid and I wore them. Those buggers I do still have, but I doub’t I’ll be rocking boat feet anytime soon! What do you think? Would you wear them? Take our poll below or add your comments at the end. For now, here are some cool styles of Doc’s and how fashion bloggers are rocking them… White Docs? Ruby Red anyone?   Classic Black? [poll id=”59″]

Fit Flop – Mukluk Boots

Fit Flop – Mukluk Boots

I’ve been living in these shoes all winter. They are so warm, so comfy and they don’t look like slippers when you have to run to the shop. By now you should have heard of FitFlop’s, the smart shoes with the Micro Wobble Board technology that tones your legs while you walk! I’ve featured and reviewed all three ranges from the very first Fit Flop sandal, to the cool, supertone Fit Flop kicks and today, I’m telling you about their Mukluk Boots. These boots are very cool for winter, and the chestnut colour matches pretty much everything. They look great with skinny jeans and a jumper. Or with leggings. Mukluk boots are traditionally made from reindeer or seal skin and are kinda like Eskimo shoes! Today’s “Mukluk” style boot is not necessarily the traditional one, but could mean any type of soft boot that has been designed to keep you warm and fluffy in winter. These Mukluk boots from FitFlop are made from Deluxe sheepskin (shearling) uppers. FitFlop Mukluk boots also come in black, chocolate and grey. For more information visit www.fitflop.com or call (021) 510 4428. Even celebs love their Mukluk Boots
