Hey August

Hey August

This month, I’m lusting all over the place. On one hand we’re nearing the end of winter (although I really can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel just yet) and while I don’t really want to spend more money on winter things, I think it’s OK if you buy something that’s more of an investment. Something I could likely get some wear out of in the early stages of spring, and still keep it for next winter…

Sparkle, Celebrate, Scintilla

Sparkle, Celebrate, Scintilla

I’m counting down the days to celebration season! And, what better way to bid au revoir to 2013 and bonjour to 2014, than with a glass make that a bottle of 2003 Scintilla, J.C Le Roux’s award winning bubbly, created in the signature Cap Classique style (Méthode Cap Classique). So, although Scintilla is not technically “champagne” – since anything that isn’t made in Champagne France can’t really be called champagne – the production process of J.C Le Roux’s Méthode Cap Classique’s follows the same style that the French folk use when the make Champagne. In other words Scintilla, it’s not simply carbonated wine. It sparkling personality is earned, through years and years of perfection in a bottle! It’s amazing! Totally delicious, classy and ultra-sophisticated! Scintilla is made with a blend of 75%Chardonnay and 35% Pinot Noir. The two wines have spent seven years on the lees, which is the result of Scintilla’s smooth character, complex flavour and superior taste. Class my dears, class! My preference in bubbly is usually on the sweeter side! But, when it comes to the real deal (Champagne or  Méthode Cap Classique for example), then I prefer it a little more crisp with a dry palette that is well balanced. I will defs be celebrating the…

Louboutin Nails

Louboutin Nails

My obsession with Christian Louboutin doesn’t end at the feet! I love, and have always wanted to try out the infamous “Louboutin Mani” made famous, probably by Adele. This is by no means a “new” nail trend, however, I’ve put a little spin on my Louboutin Manicure. I have a pair of nude, Christian Louboutin patent leather pumps (the Bianca), so instead of going for black nails with red “bottoms”, I wanted to try match my Louboutin mani to my Louboutin pumps… I went to see my bestest Jo-D, who is an absolute nail genius, told her what I wanted and this was her interpretation. If you ask me, she nailed it and matched the colour to the T! When my friend Kelly saw my nails the other day, without even seeing the sneaky flash of red underneath, she instantly said “your nails look just like your shoes”.  When I flipped my hand over, she was really impressed. Of course, my natural nail is nowhere near this length and my “normal shape” is square. So, Jo-D hooked me up with Brisa Sculpt – another product I had been itching to try on all my nails, and created a more almond shape. To perfect the…

Living Le Good Life in Louboutins

Living Le Good Life in Louboutins

I have wanted a pair of Louboutins for the longest time! I’ve had an abnormal fixation with them since the first time I saw them – the little red sole just speaks to my soul! It always has and it always will. Sadly for me, Louboutins on a bloggers budget… exactly not likely to happen! But oh, it did! Thanks to J.C Le Roux! To launch their pink La Fleurette Non-Alcoholic bubbly, J.C Le Roux sent me as well as ten other bloggers, a press pack that came with a challenge… to create a post that would express how we’d live #LeGoodLife. The prize… a pair of Louboutins that we’d get to pick out (within a certain price range). I knew I had to win! I had to! I had to! I had to! And, luckily for me I did! When I submitted my entry I was holding thumbs and praying to the red-sole-shoe-gods every night, because all the blogs that were created were amazing! When I got the message to say that I had won, I literally screamed like a wile animal! We were out in the bush on a little African getaway – with no cellphone reception for three days! The same week that J.C Le…

Louboutin to Launch a Make-Up Line

Louboutin to Launch a Make-Up Line

How happy are we?! Christian Louboutin wanted to make our soles red and now he wants to make our lips red too. If your budget does not allow you to own a pair of Christian Louboutin’s trademark red-bottomed heels, you can still get your hands on Louboutin’s make-up line which will be out sometime next year. The luxury cosmetic line will be available at much more affordable prices than the hefty price tag attached to a pair of those gorgeous shoes, which deserve to live in a well-lit cabinet, on display for all the world to appreciate their beauty…but I digress. This beauty line is in the works and although details are hard to come by at this stage, we are very excited! Louboutin promises that the line will “mirror the quality of the shoes, of the bags, of all the DNA of the brand.” Okay, now we are even more excited! I’m sure of one thing; I expect that we’ll see a lot of his signature red popping up all over the show, along with jewels, some spikes (perhaps?) and all-round fabulosity. Watch this space for details! Would you try Louboutin’s make-up line? *Images via ocnnreport.com, www.facebook.com/christianlouboutin and upscalehype.com

Once Upon A Time…

Once Upon A Time…

We all remember our first shoe moments. Whether it was our first pair of dress-up shoes when we were little to the sparkly numbers at our matric dances, to the first pair of designer heels we purchased with our own money, to the pair that makes us think we can take on the world. We all have those moments. If we were to think about the first shoe moment ever, we may think about Cinderella. For that princess, the right pair of shoes really made a difference. And now those shoes are getting a modern day look. Christian Louboutin has unveiled his version of the glass slipper. The shoe was commissioned by the Disney company to celebrate the release of Cinderella Diamond Edition on DVD and Blu-ray. The 5 inch pump is a sparkly lace number with Swarovski crystals adorning the heels. And for that added touch of fairytale magic, the shoes are embellished with shimmering butterflies. Of course, the red sole Louboutin signature is there too. The shoes went on display in Paris earlier this month. Along with the shoes, the designer also took part in a short promotional film in which he plays a shoe cobbler who has…

The Doll House

The Doll House

If you’ve always wanted to carry a Marc Jacobs now is your chance. The designer has been immortalized into a doll and it’s a whole lot cheaper than one of his handbags. The character Muscle Man Marc first made his appearance in an episode of South Park in 2011 and is now available to purchase from the designer’s stores as well as online. The doll retails for just over R1000. It already has a famous fan… Victoria Beckham. The style star tweeted a picture of herself and the doll earlier this week. Marc Jacobs isn’t the only fashion star to make the foray into the toy world. Mattel has released several versions of Barbie designed by some of the fashion world’s most fabulous minds including Christian Dior, DKNY, Christian Louboutin and Vera Wang, who designed special bridal Barbies. Jason Wu has his own line of dolls called Fashion Royalty for toymaker Integrity Toys. This collection is a range of dolls with their own characters, scandalous life stories and couture wardrobes. Christian Louboutin to make Cinderella slipper

Christian Louboutin to make Cinderella slipper

Christian Louboutin is to create his own version of Cinderella’s glass slipper. The legendary shoe designer will celebrate Walt Disney’s re-release of the iconic fairy tale on Blu-ray and DVD later this year by making his own interpretation of the princess’ famous shoe. He said: “I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world.” Cinderella wore the glass slippers to the ball, where she met Prince Charming. However, when she had to run home at midnight, she lost one and the prince found it and went searching for the owner. When he found out the glass slipper belonged to her, he proposed straight away. As well as making a shoe fit for a princess, Christian recently revealed he wants to create footwear for Britain’s Queen Elizabeth. Christina – who is famed for his trademark red soles – said the 85-year-old monarch is his dream client and he would love to make something for her. He said: “If I could do shoes for anyone it would be a special project for the queen of England. She is the ultimate client.” Content & Image…
