Hi There

Make Your Eyeshadow Last All Day with Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer

Make Your Eyeshadow Last All Day with Smashbox 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer

Miracle product? Oh Yes! I’ve always had a problem keeping my eye shadow looking flawless, and I have just the thing if you suffer from the same annoying makeup snag. It’s the new Smashbox 24Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer and I promise you gals, it’s a genie in bottle – well, a tube actually. I use good quality shadow, all the right brushes and do everything right when it comes to applying eye shadow, but I skip one important step… Primer! I’ve used primers before and while they helped a little, nothing (that I’ve tried at least) has made such an impressive impact. My eyelids tend to get greasy – I don’t know if it’s the shape of my eye, the skin on my lids, or maybe I’m just an over-blinker! But, no matter what, no matter how much time I spent doing my makeup, my shadow would always look good to start with, but after a couple of hours, all my blending efforts would’ve been wasted. Now, my eye shadow remains exactly how I’ve applied it in the morning, and it stays put all day. And it’s all thanks to Smashbox 24Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer. I apply a…

The Best Eyeliner Pencil! Smashbox 3d Sharpliner is Awesome!

The Best Eyeliner Pencil! Smashbox 3d Sharpliner is Awesome!

Stay sharp and shimmer on! How amazing are these new eyeliner pencil crayons from Smashbox? The colour is gorg, sparkly and metallic! But, besides the striking colour and amazing colour payoff – these sharpliners are in a class of their own! Why? Well, the have sharpeners built into the lid! So, when you want to sharpen them up and create bold, perfectly straight graphic lines, you can, in an instant. It’s as simple as popping the lid back on, twisting and viola! Super sharp tips! Genius! Just genius! Even after they’ve been used, with completely flat tips, they can return to their former, sharp glory. I took this pic after applying liner (on my hand as a test). You can see that the tips are starting to get blunt. Then, I wanted to take the bluntness to the limit, and got them down to this. I must be honest, after this little test, I thought it might have been the end of my sharpliners and honestly didn’t think they could come back to “life” Well gals! I am impressed! The pic above was taken after I sharpened the completely blunt pencils. Impressive hey!? As for the colour of the liners,…

Smashbox BB Cream Eyes

Smashbox BB Cream Eyes

I’m pretty lazy when it comes to prepping and concealing my eyes properly! I know, I know…. I should, but it’s just one of those things… My skin tends to get kinda oily, especially in this heat, so piling on too much “product” (eye cream, concealer etc) often makes making-up a bit of a mission. So I usually just moisturize my whole face and then apply foundation. Lately, I’ve been using the new BB Cream Eyes from Smashbox. It’s pretty amazing… A BB Cream, but for your eyes. It gives you all the benefits of BB cream; fades dark circles, reduces puffiness, smoothes fine lines/  wrinkles and improves firmness, while at the same time priming, protecting, concealing, hydrating and illuminating the eyes. WHEW! It’s an all in one solution. Pretty cool. The other thing that I like is that it’s a great on-the-go product, so you can stick it in your handbag if you need a quick eye-awakening boost in an instant. It comes in four shades; Fair, Light/Medium, Medium and Dark. On my skin, which is a more medium dark than medium, the Light/ Medium shade is perfect. It helped to brighten up the area under my eye, and love…

Prime Suspects! 8 Tried, Tested and Loved Face Primers

Prime Suspects! 8 Tried, Tested and Loved Face Primers

Face primers are a great way to extend the longevity of your makeup and give you a more flawless face to work with. There are tons of Face primers on the market, some really expensive, but some really well priced ones too! I picked out eight of my current faves… here they are, tried, tested and loved! Stila Hydrating Primer I was hooked on this primer the moment it touched my skin! It’s soft and leaves my skin perfectly prepped for foundation application. Its got a lovely smell that isn’t overpowering, and great to use on pretty much all skin types! Although it’s a “hydrating” primer, it doesn’t add any greasy or oily residue on your skin because it’s oil free! It gives my skin a glowing complexion and its also got an SPF of 30 with broad spectrum UVA and UVB, so you don’t need to apply a third layer of sunscreen to your face. Price: R320/ 50ml Works out to R6.40 per ml Filorga Deep Fill This product is meant for concealing wrinkles and works as a “wrinkle plaster” to get into those nasty lines and fill them up. It does this by drawing moisture into the skin,…

Barely There! Foundation Cover That Looks Natural

Barely There! Foundation Cover That Looks Natural

Gone are the days of caking your face! Girls have smartened up to looking flawless with minimal foundation! And the brands are helping us perfect our face with lightweight, barely there foundation that looks natural! For the past couple of months I’ve been using lighter foundations than usual. Because of my pigmentation, I prefer full coverage, but have managed to get great finishes with these products. The BB creams have been rolling in, and I have reviewed a couple of them, but for today’s post, I’ll mention only the newer ones that I haven’t featured before. Okay, so here we go… Operation: Natural Foundation Stila Stay all Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm This beauty balm is awesome! Quite ironic to think that it only comes in one shade, and yet matches my skin perfectly! It preps and primes the skin, covers imperfections, hides minor wrinkle lines, all while it gives you flawless cover and additional skin protection! A lot of beauty balms give that you that “dewy” look, which is great if you have perfect skin! For me, I like a product that mattifies my skin. That way I can just fake my glow with highlighters! Sneaky Sneaky! This BB Balm from Stila offers the best of…

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

Beauty How To – GUESS Accessories Campaign

I am head-over-heels in love with the latest Guess Accessories campaign! The makeup is to-die-for and I can’t wait to try this look out, so I asked two of my favourite Durban based makeup artists, Candice Mac Nicol (@cands_mac) and Lisa Bailey (@LisaBaileyPout)  to give me their tips, tricks and product recommendations on how to get this glam old-Hollywood look! ON THE FACE Candice’s Tips Allow your natural skin and glow to shine through! The foundation is light and well-matched to the skin tone, allowing a natural glow. Using a wet cosmetic sponge, wet Beauty Blender or wet Stippling brush, apply a light to medium coverage liquid foundation on the face. Great products to use include MAC Face & Body or Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. Apply concealer only where needed (under eyes, around base of nose, any red areas). This type of look requires a natural skin tone and the final look shouldn’t be too heavy or matte. Great products to use include Bobbi Brown concealer, Clinique eye concealer or Smashbox HD concealer. If you’d like, apply a highlighting concealer under the eyes like YSL Touche Eclat. Use a flat, synthetic brush and your ring finger. Contour & Highlight using a matte…
